Hi there is there a way to create and delete the sub areas after you split them. For example I am using a STP file for a plant and I need to split the plant into sub-areas is there a way to do this and separate whole parts of the plant, without creating a new part for each split off part? Basically I want to split the model but keep all the parts in the same assembly.

Same thing here. Did they move this feature to a higher tier solidworks because I cant use it either

@cutty02 if it's greyed out it means solidoworks is not connected . That's what happened to me. It turns out the firewall was blocking sw so not all the features were working.

@@mecheng84 that's weird but I just signed in and I'm connected to 3d experience. I can't even use solid works if I'm not connected to the internet

@cutty02 if you are not connected the basic features work but other like split command don't . Let me know if your firewall was the issue .

@@h.aerospace right click in the feature tree what part you want and then CLICK "Insert into new part" - CLICK "the 3 little dots after the title bar" and then type in what you want it to be called hit enter and then the green check mark. It will open a new part screen for that saved half.
