I guess we didn't get many answers because the protagonist had common sense: "things are getting super weird, so I am getting out of here". Interesting little game! I'd like to see it grow into a full, well polished game.
yes. there is an alternative universe somewhere where a protagonist from most other horror games stays there and explores further, finds out Exactly what happened on that ship - but it costs them their life xD. guess thats the price of full closure in most horror games.
I thought this exactly! We didn't get full answers because our protag was smart enough to bail while he still could. It's nice to have a smart one, even if it does leave many questions. For all we know, that purple crap could have been something reanimating that would have really ruined our protag's day. But maybe if we went exploring a little more before entering that room we could have learned more? (if that's not possible, maybe it should have been)
This was pretty good and yeah the voice acting was great. The electrics remind me of half life alyx. This was interesting but I agree that it feels that there has to be something more. It kinda feels like a prelogue.
Lesson of this game --- when you see the place abandoned in a rush and a door welded shut, kill your curiosity and just leave. The latter was meant to keep something in, not out. Overall, I felt that the game has potential but the execution was really flat. The moment the character went in "out of curiosity", it can already be predicted that there's something bad going on in that ship. Hence, I was hoping for a tension buildup. Instead, it gave that feeling as if we're being taken around as a tour group. The game mechanic of hacking through the wirings was interesting, at least..... but since this became overly used, I found myself eventually staring blankly at the screen, waiting for something good to happen. Just the same, thank you for playing this game for us.
Well except for the few spelling errors here and there, I have nothing bad to say about this game, I really liked it. I truly hope the dev continues making games, and maybe even expands on this one, because this was very promising!
This is super similar to "Opacity, Genesis", this is one better really, but the premise and exploration and the details of the crew are very alike. Strange 🤔
I like this. Good context, voice acting and organic exploration. Things actually fit together and make sense. Space is always such fertile ground for suspense and horror. Ending is a bit anticlimactic I agree. Maybe there’s more to come.
I definitely agree with the lack of usage of the cool concepts that had potential in the game, but still glad to see that you enjoyed it, great playthrough as always!
I'm glad you enjoyed this one, Chris. It definitely had potential. As it was, I found it unremarkable. There was no tension, imo. The atmosphere wasn't menacing. The protagonist wearing a helmet was a good touch, but the configuration bugged me--it made no sense to obscure his (and our) vision in that way. There was not even any real motivation for the protagonist to be there. And for a guy who said "I'm speechless" more than once, he had a lot to say--most of which was superfluous. To me, his voice sounded more like someone passing out samples in a supermarket than a person recounting a frightening experience. I gave you a thumbs up, not the game.
haven't seen you in days! likely on me, focusing hard on the videos instead of the comments. I'm FINALLY caught up with every Playlist and every video back to 2016. I think im good for now. gotta agree with you, a lot of potential in the substance, but just too little detail to make the atmosphere what it could be.
I have such serious trust issues with "survivor narration" games ever since Narcosis. Very cool game. I think, like CJ, my one complaint is that it probably could've ended with just a little more spice - ominous noises from the dark (which the player has to press forward to) leading up to spotting some kind of unnatural movement, then the runaway scene. Overall cool concept. Like a sort of Dead Space (especially with the engineering/wiring) without the FPS gameplay?
I agree with your verdict, Chris. I enjoyed watching this, but the end was a bit of a fizzer. There was something missing, a climax of some kind. But certainly not a waste of time.
If economizing is the reason you have to do so much reading in these kinds of games they really ought to innovate a little something extra add to the atmosphere. Audio of a scanning computer ticking off atmosperic readings in the background. Something that'll help keep reading from becoming such a chore.
I was eating a packet of salted crisps with some bread and butter and a glass of water while watching this game... bland food with a bland game seems apt lol... thank god for your commentary though Chris!! Always entertaining.
This is a really neat game, wiring system was cool, visuals are really great. Atmosphere is good, but the commitment to no jump scares really lowers the tension. I'm not a huge fan of jump scares, they're cheap and often over done but without them horror games really lose a lot of their edge. It wouldn't take anything to obnoxious to push this game to the next level. Just something early on, like a door slamming behind you, maybe a bottle smashing when you walk passed it. Just something to give you that sense of "Something could jump out at any moment." Then maybe having you actually run on your own while being chased at the end. Even if it's not a literal monster chasing you, just the tentacles expanding across the ship and you have to rewire to get the doors open in time. Otherwise, the game is short and sweet, it's a decent story and the voice acting is solid.
Yeah, it was OKAY. Like it was solidly made but nothing much happened, so was slowly felt dull, but luckily the game ended then trying to drag itself out.
was pretty good, the atmosphere was on point, but yeah it lacked something at the end, hell, maybe even something as little as showing him scaping in his spaceship and showing a shadow, a tendril(or whatever the hell those things where) anything, if not, then show a creature or something before he leaves, and maybe even hint at it following him to his spaceship but without any confirmation whether it gets in or not, keep the ending ambiguous
Hmm, I've got to say that sci-fi horror are not my favourite but this one intrigued me. It has "Alien" vibes, even the surroundings looks like Nostromo. Also, the game Nyctophobia: Devil Unleashed looks like fun ;)
The narrative lacked proper climax, true. Technically, it was a walking simulator with only one game mechanic and a couple of game systems, which isn't inherently bad. I suppose the game could lead you to the infected body in a more dramatic way, but then it might've bordered on overstaying its welcome. Anyway, I appreciate the game for what it is in the end. It's a short well-polished experience that does its job well.
If nothing else I will say that it's nice to see at least a few "horror" games where the main character actually DOES survive in the end, as opposed to the overly common cliche of dying with no way out regardless of what you do. I'll admit that more answers would have been nice, but sometimes in life you simply ARE left hanging, and that's something to keep in mind too. Even though in games it's more or less the idea of explaining everything in the end (usually), that's not always how life works, so I appreciate the story for what it was. :)
I'd love more of these types of games! I love horror atmosphere games. That is true horror, building story and making you feel.. unsettled. Jump scares are so easy and boring, I wish games did atmosphere more.
haven't commented for a while, as I was catching up on your videos back to 2016. proud to say I'm done! love your content. if you want to see a neat point and click high fantasy horror ish game, check out shadowgate on steam! :)
I think was a pretty good 'experience', however honestly not much of a 'game' at all. With a fair bit of work vis-a-vis user interaction with the environment and fleshing out of the store and some realistic objectives, this could be a moderately profitable venture. As something to put on a resume, its nice. Overall well done in many aspects that we normally see overlooked.
Creepy sound design and atmosphere! And he had common sense to get the eff out! LOL!! I wish though we could have seen some enemies. Though why doesn't he have a crew if he's salvaging out in space? That's just asking for bad things to happen, sheesh.
I’m sure I sound like a broken record, but good modeling and texturing.. the animations were pretty good too .. but yea I wish the story was a little more horrifying lol the end was kinda anticlimactic.. but looked amazing when he was running away
Dope game I liked it a lot and it was very well put together for a short game! I wish he’d gone to the docking bay before the cargo hold so we could check for more info I feel like we missed something you always check all areas before following the blood hahaha but good game nevertheless and awesome play through by you cj! Loved it and thanks for all your work as always! 💚
Good game, but somehow it feels like the dev didn't have any motivation left for a better ending and instead put this "running away" scene in there. In my opinion, this should have gone on for a bit longer, as the story is quite intriguing and thrilling.
The voice acting of this game really didn't match the tone they were going for. He sounded like a guy telling an amusing anecdote, not someone traumatized by crazy space murder.
This was a very well made little game. I love how the voice acting was muffled my the helmet, and the visor overlay. I think it was the perfect length. But yeah, the ending could have been better.
I really liked this one, I hope it gets expanded or services as the basis for a much larger game. Something in the vein of Moons of Madness. Though is it me or did CJ not go into every room?
I'll be honest, I am starting to get a bit tired of the fake-pixellated thing. A lot of these indie games use it now. It's not 'really' pixellated, it's like a snapchat filter they slap over the game in an attempt to inject personality into an otherwise bland and forgettable project. It's getting a bit overdone.
Super mysterious! I really loved the little bit we did get here, but I wish there was more. Maybe the dev will make another game that ties into this one. I can envision a potential series of short games, or maybe one big one that takes place in the same environment and with this same main character. Whatever ends up happening, I'm definitely here for it.
Now I am confused. I was checking this out to see if it is a game I want to play. This seems to be someone wandering aboard a spaceship; yet when I look on Google it says it's about a man trapped in an escape pod.
I enjoyed that greatly. The atmosphere was creepy, the story was nice, really really liked that! And that the character does the right thing at the end is awesome!
just saying i know they didnt want jumpscares but they could have had a pool of blood around the base of a door and when you open in falls the body that caused all that blood
Oh yes! Finally see you play this game! It's more like a short sci-fi horror story and the MC (and the player)'s increasing terror at what they are going to find in the end and even then, there are no clear answers as what the ship's crew were doing.
Kind of seemed like at the end there, the protagonist maybe got infected with whatever this Solis is supposed to be, when those purple glows started going along the vines.
It's a "name your own price" game on itch.io. That means you can choose to support the developer with $3 (or more), or you can download it for free. When it takes you to the purchase screen you can just click the link that says "No thanks, just take me to the download" if you choose not to pay.
