A review of Radiorunner's curriculum for the solo artist. A curriculum built for the self-taught artist looking for structure and direction.
The curriculum is based on the structure of Marc Brunet's "ARTSchool", so if you like it you may want to check out his own course. The Solo Artist curriculum has a much higher emphasis on Perspective and Draftsmanship.
It's a democratized and structured curriculum, with amazing resources linked and challenges for every unit to ensure that the knowledge is internalized. We love it and are following it currently.

I love this review, thank you for taking the time to make it so detailed! I understand what you mean about skipping parts that may not be relevant to your art journey, but I think the whole point was to recreate art school, even the parts we don't think we need. For instance I don't usually draw mechs either, but I did the mech module last month and learnt a great deal about drawing through forms. My work improved considerably. I think it's helpful for breaking out of comfort zones and mastering fundamentals.

Man I'm so loving your videos. They're so helpful, filled with insight and you guys just know how to transmit your knowledge. Now more than ever, having solid advice on what's a healthy mentality when it comes to creating art, it's sosososo important. Shame it took me this long to your find your channel, I really hope you guys will come back some day to continue shedding light on this journey. Hoping for it, and feeling grateful for all you've shared with us already, I'll keep watching your existing videos in the meantime. Thank you

Thank you so much for this information. I was looking for exactly this! I’ve been doing art for quite some time but as a self-taught artist, in a completely unstructured way, I feel like I have these gigantic gaps in my skill set that I feel have completely frozen my progress. Hoping to hear more about both of your experiences on the program.

I just started the solo artist curriculum, but I started with unit two.

@7:13 You're wrong, this curriculum starts with anatomy / figure drawing, which is not what should come first, I know that and I don't even know that much. This curriculum is more biased towards character design. Definitely that should come a bit later. As Feng Zhou says "draw rocks." I also think colour, light and value should also come earlier. I am planning using multiple curriculums, I've found including this one, and one I've added is a blender course and some resources to start the habit. FYI, he created a second version and it's on gumroad, but I found a screenshot of the outline and it's mainly the same.

Thanks for the info! I am an aspiring artist hoping to become great some day, but I can never really stick to one course. Is there any update on this?
