I've only run VoG a few times and still don't quite understand the mechanics of the oracles spawning. What's the purpose of timing them together?

@@queueeeee9000the oracles during the atheon boss fight need to be shot in a specific order that your teammates call out, otherwise you wipe. By destroying the three oracles together, it circumvents the need for callouts, making the run to damage phase solo completely possible

the hunter build is super niche, if ads don't want to cooperate with you then the build just isn't good. stop acting like titan wasn't broken, especially considering it was 20x more consistent and versatile than hunter build

It’s to move the Aegis away from you when you drop it so you can have a clear shot on the oracles. (Otherwise, it blocks you)

The hitbox of the relic is massive so the stasis crystal is used to force the relic to drop behind you. that way you can shoot oracles without being blocked by the relic. it looks so goofy but it works

it all relies on not getting “Lost In Time” which occurs when nobody is alive in the main boss room for 2 seconds and results in a wipe. after doing the finisher while getting teleported, the game thinks you’re in the main room wherever you would have returned to after the finisher (on the Mars plate), so you don’t get Lost In Time. If you move (or even have your feet shuffle bc you look to the side) the game refreshes your position and realizes you’re not in the overworld which gives you Lost In Time. When it’s time to exit, you have to leave in under 2 seconds, hence the skate. Even after going back to the main room this mechanic still applies in Mars, hence the in-and-out when shooting 3rd oracles. Because I can’t move while in Mars, the stasis crystal moves the relic backwards when I drop it. otherwise it would block my view when shooting oracles. If you break all 3 oracles at around the same time you don’t actually need to know the order (timed using 2 delayed projectiles and a hit-scan bow shot). I do read the 3rd set using either vision or sound so I am able to shoot those in order. Everything I explained was found by the solo raids community, not me. The strategy is meant for Warlock (I have that posted as well), but I added a few small changes to make it viable on hunter.

Stylish Executioner gives a hidden 3x buff to melee damage. I’m triggering it through the tether when I proc my one-two punch on the boss, so it requires that an ad is in the tether. I’m mostly just waiting for an ad to walk into the tether so I can attack again. It is definitely possible to 1 phase, and you can actually do so in 3 melees if you start with Radiant applied, but you’d need really good luck with the ads walking into the tether. imo it was easier to take the safe 2 phase so I opted for that

I’ve already explained the mechanics in a few other comments, so check those if curious. As for damage, Atheon is super weak to ability damage (3-4x multiplier iirc), so stack that on top of the Stylish Executioner build and you can 3 shot him. For super energy, there’s a raid mod that gives you super energy when breaking oracles that stacks higher the more copies you have equipped. With 3-4 copies you can get full super from one set of oracles

it’s possible, just not probable. I need a new ad in the tether each time I melee to get a huge chunk like that, so I opted for a safe 2 phase instead of praying for the lucky 1 phase. would have been a million times cooler as a 1 phase tho

thanks! it should still work, yes. To get the actual grapple melee animation instead of the regular melee you need a little bit of momentum. best way to do this is by grappling at an angle (90 degrees to the side, straight up in the air, etc) and by backing up after each melee to get a little distance between you and the boss.

It’s definitely possible, just not easy. you’d need a very specific ad lineup and a bit of luck for atheon to stay in tether with his annoying new pathing. you can actually 3 shot if you start with radiant, but getting 3 separate ads to walk into tether while still keeping 2 near for synthos proc felt near impossible. for reference, I made around 50-60 damage phases and never got that setup solo :/ But I’m sure some of the solo goats could cook up a consistent 1 phase strat if they tried

Atheon takes extra ability damage (3-4x multiplier iirc), so that stacked with the Stylish Executioner build is able to 3 shot him

if you’re struggling to get the grapple melee animation and are punching/knifing instead, try placing the grapple point high in the air or far off to the side so you’re able to build momentum before punching. If you’re getting good grapple melees but not getting chunks, make sure there’s an enemy (other than boss) in your tether that will die to the shotgun shot, and make sure you grapple very fast after shooting so that you get invis DURING the grapple, which is what gives u the 3x dmg multiplier.

“Time’s Vengeance” gives you fast super energy regen and chunks of grenade energy, which scale with your base stats and a few other buffs. So with Time’s Vengeance, 100 disc, and HoIL class item it’s almost instantly back. The warlock strategy works the same way so you can spam Verity’s Brow buffed nades

You can’t go past 4 phases

For sure. If you can get radiant beforehand I’m pretty sure you can kill in 3 grapple melees. Just need a ton of luck with ads moving into the tether. I tried experimenting with killing the plate ads beforehand and having them respawn during DPS but had no luck. If you get ads to respawn the 1 phase should actually be pretty easy. I would consider hunting it but the eager glitch is mostly patched :(

HoIL + Synthos. Works with any synthos class item, but you’d probably need to use a grapple point tho

The “Time’s Vengeance” buff that you get during DPS gives you increased super and grenade regen that scale based on your Int and Disc. So with 100 disc, Time’s Vengeance, and an Inmost class item you almost instantly get grapple back

correct, and I grapple melee’d the boss 4 of those 5 times.

mostly normal. main changes are interact and grenade as mouse buttons, q and c for the melees, and 4 for inventory with 5 rebound to be left arrow key (for faster loadout swaps). almost everything else is unchanged

the stylish executioner build doesn’t work like that. you don’t spam the grapple melee, instead you have to wait for an ad to enter the tether to get a chunk. it is possible to 1 phase, just very unlikely

There’s tutorials out and the only difference really is the skate with the relic and damage phase but there’s tutorials for the stylish executioner grapple damage and you just ground skate with the relic since you can apply eager edge to relics now and they get pre nerf eager
