G'Day viewers!
Join me as I take my new Old Town Discovery canoe on her first overnight canoe trip up the beautiful Shoalhaven River. I build a tarp shelter, cook up some kanga steak on the fire and give this whole fishing thing another crack.
Hope you all enjoy it.

With 2 severely disabled children at home 24/7 I crave escape from my real life. Your videos give me that calm, comfort and space to think about something else rather than my life. Many thanks.

I've been watching a lot of these solo bushcraft videos lately and something stood out to me. Even though the world is so full of people, you can still get out into nature all by yourself like it used to be hundreds and even thousands of years ago. So peaceful. Goes to show how many people prefer to stay in the comfort of the city. In California where I live, even when you go into nature, there are typically other people around. I have to go deep into desolation wilderness to get away from everyone.

I love your videos. They are top notch quality, and what a BEAUTIFUL country you live in. Just amazing. Thank you so much for showing us your country, for putting the camera on spots and holding for a second for us to enjoy. It is very evident that you love your country. It's so nice to hear you speak such glaring words about it. I love your hat.

@Justin1llusion
@Justin1llusion 5 лет назад
I was diggin it all the way through, getting those Mathew Posa vibes when you were having trouble catching fish, feeling your inner Joe Robinet when you let us all know what beer you're drinking, until you got to cooking your dinner. It's a sly moment, you gotta keep your eyes peeled, but about half way through eating your dinner, you decide to try get a bit of sweet potato and steak on the same fork, and then go all out trying to secure that mushroom on the same utensil, and it was then, at that exact moment I decided to subscribe. That sounds like a delicious mouthful, and you're an everyday hero for reaching so close to utopia.

Scotty.......another fantastic escape from reality for us viewers. Relaxed, genuine and relatable. Mate, I know I’ve said this before but you need to consider taking some of your followers on some trips with you - maybe not in the canoe as it might be a tad crowded/unsafe but some weekend/long weekend treks in the Sydney area/basin would be gold. Charge us a nominal fee, heads up on do’s/dont’s for packs/food etc and away we go...... Happy New Year to “Scotty’s Gone Walkabouts” and look forward to many more adventures in 2019 - but get us along for the enjoyment as well...!

Hi Scotty. Im from the US. Love your vids. I have an Old Town Discovery also. Mine is larger, a two man.Just a tip for your fishing- try leaving the cicada lure flooting on the surface for a bit.and twitch it a bit like a live cacada would. It would be struggleing to get back into the air and not swimming. Fish are alarmed when something isnt natural. Also when a fish strikes,set the hook harder to make sure it is embeded in its mouth so it dosent pull out when encountering an obstacle . I dont want so sound like an expert because Im not,but I have been fishing with lures for a long time and have success when imitating the moments of the creature that the lure represents. It is winter here,watching your video has me getting spring fever.Good luck and keep on enjoying the Great Outdoors. Looking foward to your next video.Thanks,hope the tip helps.

my own personal opinion on people who do that, simply because I cannot think of any reason why people would do it, is maybe they are competitor channels and when they upload something fresh, then maybe they sit on youtube for 5 mins thumbing down other's vids in the hopes it will greater their ranking?

Australia is a beautiful magical land. We need to start realising we can’t keep destroying it with bulldozing large swaths of bush land in outer urban areas for these large spread out housing estates with black hot tar roads and no shade, just cheap nasty McMansions one like the other. In view of the floods too people need to start building up, not across. We need to cherish and save these beautiful places. Love your film. I wish I could be there.

Hultafors! Didn't know they were that widespread. I'm from Sweden so I kinda assume our products stay mostly domestic. But it seems like the axes made by Hultafors are internationally appreciated, making it as far as literally the opposite side of the globe as well. That's cool!

G'day Scotty, I've only just found your channel today and I'm mighty pleased I did, mate. It's great to see a young fella like you getting out there and getting into it on your own. Not many Aussie youtubers doing it like you are, so it's a breath of fresh air. Not many vids on this platform can hold my interest for an hour, mate, but I could have watched yours for longer, hey! Well done, mate. I look forward to seeing more as you build your channel and extend your experience. Ps. When fishing for bass with a surface lure, slow it down a bit. When the lure hits the water, don't even move it until the ripples it makes are at least 50 - 100cm in diameter, then only twitch it a bit. This mimicks an insect hitting the water then starting to wriggle a bit as it realises it's stuck. Good luck with it, mate. Tight lines! :)
