Welcome to Algonquin Park!
If you're new to the channel, my name is Eze (short for Ezequiel) and my passion is outdoor adventure.
Join me on this episode as I travel to the Northern part of Algonquin Park, in search of deep solitude.
With the autumn colours in full force, this was a sensory overload not to be missed.
Starting from Cedar Lake, I travelled up the Petawawa river via several portages (some very long!), made my way up to Catfish Lake, continued onto Burntroot, passed via Whiskeyjack Lake and finally travelled back downstream on the Nippissing river (great Brook Trout fishing!).
In the entire time I saw under a handful of people, with several days going by not seeing anyone at all. For such a popular park, I was blessed to have this area virtually all to myself, and to top it all off... SUMMER weather!!
The stars aligned for me on this trip with wildlife, seeing 2 bull moose, hundreds of birds, owls, otters, beavers and the brook trout fishing was awesome. On the smaller critter side, toads, chipmunks and monarch butterflies
So.. what are you waiting for? Let's put some portages behind us and dig deep into the heart of Algonquin Provincial Park.

My mother took a popup tent on wheels with five young children to Algonquin. We would watch the black bears visit the camp dumpsite in the evening. The bears would visit the campground at night! We went on to St Sue Marie and then stayed at a Canadian campground near Lake Ontario. Got to visit Montreal and saw my great grandfather, he a painter of scenery of Montreal. We returned through Lake George, NY to Washington, NJ. Wonder why you don't save the water you have cooked for drinking. Wouldn't it be safe to drink.😊

Another great video Eze and welcome back to Canada. Living near Niagara Falls we have yearly camped and hiked at Provincial Parks including Algonquin. Now at over 73 I regret not doing more backcountry canoeing and camping …. but still plan on doing that with far less portaging than you did ! Lol. We greatly enjoy your videos along with our other Canadian favourites. PS One of our family dogs is named Maple.

Hey Rob!! Wow you live in a such a beautiful location! Yet to see those mighty falls! Maple is a such a great name!! Thanks for tuning in, I appreciate it greatly. Your wisdom is clear: Do as much as possible whilst you can. I totally agree. Nobody reaches their last day of life saying "Damn, I really should have had LESS fun" right?? Whilst work and other areas of life are important, I truly feel the urge to get out there as much as possible, as quickly as possible. I know time is ticking I plan to and hope that when I get to 73, I'll also be canoeing across beautiful landscapes. I can see this being a lifelong passion, and I can't seem to get enough!

Breathtaking landscape. Who hasn't got their old and new girlfriend's name mixed up before... "no, she's not as pretty as you (but she could ride the rapids better)". Thank you Eze. Yet again: amazing journey, outstanding photography, entertaining and informative. What a truly beautiful place to have travelled through. Until the next adventure 🙏🏽 Sorry to sound greedy, but I would love to see a 'Prep for the journey' video - how you sort out transporting paddles on a plane, getting to where are going, booking a canoe/kayak at your destination, what food will I need, which maps... planning sort of thing...

ahahah that's brilliant!! I apreciate it! Really would love to do those sort of videos but honestly speaking, they tend to do really badly... After your trip with the UK boys I knew you'd be back. Algonquin is that kind of place. The loons still call me. I've done that same loop several times but I always went up the Nippissing and down the Petawawa back to Cedar. I've stayed in several of the same campsites. That site at the top of Burnt Root is one of my favorites. There is a path from there back to the bottom of the rapids where the fishing is the best in the park. I'm surprised you didn't visit the root cellar there, it is a magical spot.

Great weather for that time up there!!! wanting shade at the end of September and swimming. Your loop was our first trip around 2000. We didn't know what we were doing, didn't know the canoe was suppose to go on our head. I remember an uphill monster to begin, and our first campsite on trout Lake, and losing my $300 oakleys on the nipissing, and a quaint old quiet outfitting office, but can't recall anything I just watched. In all these years I have never camped on a river or swam in one. It's probably WAY more likely to see a moose though. Maybe a bear too. TY
@EzeAdventurer
@EzeAdventurer 5 месяцев назад
Hahaha sounds like you had an awesome trip, full of new experiences and bulldozing into awesome personal growth!! That's the way! Yeah I do think the rivers usually make the wildlife viewing more probable, cos they cross from side to side and kind of bottleneck wildlife sometimes around certain passings.. Both moose seen were on rivers on this trip. Petawawa and Nip.

O Eze what a nice surprise when I put the tube on this evening. so nice to see u back, we’ve missed u and your adventures. It looked stunning with all the colours in the trees and the wildlife. I did think o well least he’s not had beaver Debris to clamber over this time then the fallen tree popped on the screen lol 😂 Maxx

Thanks so much Max!! Yeah kept this one quiet... lost my mind and got on a plane to Canada lol. The air fare was almost the cost of fuel to drive and return to Scotland and the rivers were in spate! Haha yeah one beaver obstacle just to keep things interesting!! Thanks for your support as ALWAYS!

if you get back to Canada and want to do a trip in Temagami next summer hit me up. About same distance to Algonquin but Temagami has some more isolated areas, even peak seasons.

Man these canoe videos have really inspired our family to take a trip! Could you post the time of year your taking these trips in the videos whenever you make a new one. Like it’s Mid August or Mid September? We want to do this trip but we would love to catch it around the same time you took this video. What month was this? The info added to your videos helps us plan trips like this too😅

Good video as ever but disappointed that you are using hard shell canoe when you have the Pacboat canoe. Scenery look brilliant.
@EzeAdventurer
@EzeAdventurer 5 месяцев назад
Thanks! The pac boat is great, but I still haven't been able to source a yoke for it! Also this was a super impulsive last minute trip from UK to Canada so had to streamline the process and gear as much as possible. For quite a few reasons, this was the best way to go for me !

Don't fool yourself, logging in Algonquin is still alive and well. There's nothing like portaging and canoeing for 5 days and coming across a logging road and seeing a couple of semi's hauling fresh cut trees out of the park. There is no such thing as pristine in Algonquin, there are several private cottages and logging roads throughout the park.
@EzeAdventurer
@EzeAdventurer 5 месяцев назад
Yeah I guess so. Some areas look pristine though but yeah, it doesn't truly feel wild, but given the accessibility it's pretty amazing

Hey There! I was analyzing your youtube channel.The main reason the video goes viral is video SEO, High ranking keywords, and organic promotion of your video's targeted audience. Your SEO score is absolutely Low and the video has no high-ranking keywords. All you have to do is get views and subscribers.
@EzeAdventurer
@EzeAdventurer 5 месяцев назад
Thanks but I'm ok for now! I'm too skeptical that any of that will make a meaningful difference to video performance. Good luck with your work 🙂

i love the videos think they are really well shot, but just be yourself.. it grinds on me when you use the youtubey vernacular like "guys" at the end of the sentence
@EzeAdventurer
@EzeAdventurer 5 месяцев назад
I am myself... that's how I talk and the "guys" is what comes to me naturally.. so changing it, would take an active effort to NOT be myself. Sorry to hear this was one of the takeaways from the video...
