Kathy gave me a tour of her Born Free 2009 Casual Elegance 22 foot RV. It's made by Born Free out of Iowa and this B+ RV is built like a yacht. I'm so surprised by the craftsmanship and quality of this Born Free RV with its fiberglass outer exterior including the roof and side steps. I was blown away by Kathy's beautiful RV and the modifications that she made to her RV to tailor it more to her liking and travel style as she travels around the United States this year.
Kathy also shares her story about being a solo female traveler, her boondocking experiences, the fear that many people get when starting out RVing full time, moochdocking, and Harvest Host locations she has camped at recently.

Hi, I'm Amber and in May 2017 I started full time RV living. I started this nomadic journey after selling my house and all my belongings to pursue this crazy dream of traveling full time in an RV and creating incredible memories.
After 1 year of traveling, I sold my 26 foot Winnebago Class C RV for a more nimble Class B van on a Promaster 2500 chassis. Now in my 4th year of RVing in my camper van, I'm still loving this RV lifestyle and being a digital nomad. I almost always boondock in nature and really enjoy that off grid living.

I wish i would of seen this earlier..i watched this video when it was posted and have searched for a similar bornfree with a chevy motor for the last 2 years...i guess she never posted it on rv trader or a born free sight😢😢😢😢. I drove a 35 foot RV pulling a full size car for several years alone. I was 60 years old when I started after my husband passed away soon after he retired. That was 20 years ago.

Kennedy C LOL .... I know right!? I used to have one when I went to college. Those huge bag phones were just coming out then. That was 1989. My handle was "Red Racer" because I had a red Honda CRX with a major lead foot! lol

NICE interview 👌👍 a nice way to travel BORN FREE like the movie about Elsa the lioness. It's perfect for a woman & a dog. I think it takes courage to travel by yourself even with a cute dog! I enjoyed watching this and BORN Free motor homes are expensive and none of them look the same. I like the back door instead of the passenger side door the best.

Just do it! I totally love that she encouraged people to just grab a tent and go try camping. At the end of the day the point is to explore the enjoyment of camping. Being comfortable as you make your adventures is wonderful as well, but the point is just get out there and do it! I love it! Going to see if I have an adventurous girlfriend that will rent a cabin with me and just try it. See you at the fire!

I would love to have something like that, not to live in but for travelling to visit friends around the US. I think it would be grate to just park in their drives for 2 or three days then off to the next place with sight seeing in between. That way you get the best of two worlds visiting but not putting the hostess to a lot of work and also evenings alone to relax and get up slowly. Particularly great when visiting the grand kids.

I suspect it is built much much better than the modern ones today. I've drove large U-Hauls before and I think it would be very comfortable to drive, much more so than a U-Haul. Just sayin.

Yes Kathy you should start your adventures on RU-vid include you dog. I own a home and Iam in process of selling it as Iam trying to figure out which system I should buy. Iam 60yo and not sure how much traveling I want to do. Your BORN Free home looks very nice. I first thought abought a Nissan cargo van or cargo trailer, but so many rules about where you can stay?? I see women travel by themselves it looks like fun. Born Free looks like it would be good for WA state winters, but Scottsdale, AZ would be nicer for October to May then go to WA for June to September. I live I WA state 2000 to 2001 we had lots of Rain & wind!! I think western WA is pretty, eastern WA more desert like but winters are very cold. Coldest winters are in Nebraska Iowa & Minnesota, so I would say western WA winters are not as cold as midwest winters.

Loved this!! Beautiful RV and lovely Kathy! I do want to add my thoughts about #2 in the toilet ... gah ... alert ... more about toilet issues than you might want to know! Anyway, I have lived and travelled in my 33 foot Winnebago Adventurer ... 8 months plus full time as well as a lot of 3-4 month, and assorted travels over 16 years. So ... poop does not remain solid if there is plenty of water :) ... and if you routinely dump black and then gray, the gray cleans the hose. I have never had an issue with a smelly hose ... really! And actually, the gray water smells worse than the black. One thing I do, is I do not put tp or anything other than what exits my body into the tank. I have a flip lid waste can, but after adding a bidet attachment to my home toilet, I thought ... huh, I could use the toilet cleaning thing to have bidet in the motorhome ... wash, don't wipe and you will never go back. There ... much, much more than you wanted to know, probably.

@@storychasing I agree 110%, if we all could have had a crystal ball. Everyone including me complains about the high prices of a new campers. There's Born Frees, Scamps, Casida's, Air Streams just to name a few that are being sold 20 years later that at the time seemed over priced for more then then they sold for new just because the roof did not leak and destroy the trailer. Look on Craigslist there's trailers 10 years old being sold as scrap just because of roof leaks.

I used to do this when I was single. Got a couple of men’s shoes for a few dollars at Goodwill resale store. It helps for when you have handymen or internet company male technicians come to the house.

a day before I pick up my rig to go full time rving I find out my travel partner is not coming along. So - this was a God-send! Kathy's positive fearless attitude is helping me get through this night when I want to cancel all my plans. I used to be fearless but life often shakes us up enough where we need to rebuild our threshold for adventure. HOpe we meet on the road someday!

I love that she refuses to live in fear...and that she won't share what precautions and safeties she's got in place (I always shake my head when I watch videos and people say on camera what they have in place). I agree. It amazes me when people reveal safety systems that really should be kept private. It also surprises me when people show their hidden storage spots for valuables. Kind of defeats the purpose, doesn’t it?
