My name is Bea, I'm 22 years old, and today I am sharing with you my very first video of my solo female van life journey! This is pt.1 of converting my 1979 Chevy G10 Van [El Diablito] into my tiny living space! I have no prior experience in building anything and I am running this all by meself, but I am a crafty artist type so let's see where that takes me...

In this part of the series, you will see me cleaning the van after it's been stripped, sanding down rust spots, fiberglassing the floor, priming with rust control paint, starting the subfloor, and installing the insulation!

Just wanted to say you can wear a cloth mask while using sprays - thank you for sharing - i am also thinking of van life & do not have a clue where to start so this is so helpful! 😊😊😊

While you're at it check the engine to because it looks like you know it's an old vehicle and I just get worried when people live out in Old Vehicles because you have to make sure that the engines working and you don't want to get stranded somewhere. I like Alisha vanilla she really did an awesome job and she really refurbished everything so you know if you're going to plan on living out there do make sure that you take every precaution cuz it's your home and you know what happens if it gets smacked in or you just have to think of everything I mean I know you're trying to make it look cute but one thing is making it look cute and making it being safe for you out there

I did my van almost exactly like yours. Four different types of insulation, Killmat, strings to hold the Havelock wool in place, did a little of this, then a little of that, not finishing one thing before starting the other. Our build styles are so similar.

LMAO.. Sketchy seller...Sends Knuckles over there too rectify the issue...Problem solved... Works every time.. And your right. The wool is kick ass... It got down to -21f In Texas... And I retreated to the Van. As I had no power for 4 days...

the cork is honestly my fav part so far, it just smells so good and works so well as a base for the subfloor!!! I didn't mention in the video but it is also mold/mildew resistant and naturally bug repellant! Thanks for the kind words

you need watch the video on Bob Wells he have a video on insulating your van The silver insulation no good it will be cold at night depends where you’re camping yet if you’re camping down in South near the border of Mexico go ahead use the silver insulation if you camping in the north of United States Washington to Maine have to find another installation like you have to use the pink board from the lumber yard store

Hello Linda, thank you so much for the suggestion! As I stated in the video I am actually using 4 types of insulation! The silver reflectix was just the amount I had leftover from making my window covers, so I decided to add that to my hempwool and havelcock wool! (:

Actually no I didn’t! This was my first time working with a jigsaw and full on woodworking! My best advice is just to watch as many conversion RU-vid videos as you possibly can. After I watched over 1000+ I felt like a pro, but also familiarize yourself with your tools. Practice runs on scrap pieces before diving into the real deal! Good luck on your journey

Fiberglass give out mold? This is the first time I hear this. Fiberglass didn't give out mold, if they do then they won't use it for a boat. If you don't want mold on your car. Then you should never use that cork wood. Cork wood give out mold, fungus and bugs. Plus the wood for a stud will rot and mold faster then fiberglass will.

You know I would be very careful living in this van because it looks like it's torn up. The body doesn't look very good. And for a single woman living out in the vehicle you want to make sure that you don't have a vehicle that looks like it's falling apart because that's what it looks like. I mean you did a nice job in the inside but it just looks like a dangerous vehicle to live in

You know I watched A LOT of van builds/ diy van conversion videos before I started on mine and I can't recall the exact RU-vidr who I saw it from but I know that I had refer4enced a couple of videos when I decided on this step specifically. Let me go back and see if I can figure out who I watched do it!
