This is one of my favorite van builds so far. All of the others are people buying new or almost new super expensive vans and doing massive expensive (pro-like) upgrades. This was simple and realistic. I really enjoyed it, and the van looked comfortable.
You ever seen chrome and cruz ? They have a channel called vancity vanlife or vanlife vancity. He spends so much money on unnecessary things like his front seats in his current van that cost in the thousands just for seats. Its really ridiculous and he bought another van but it's a ambulance that he is fixing up. His channel is good but he brags to much 🤣
This needs to be pinned to the top! You are so right! I'm more impressed with what she did with this van than any of those "McMansions"! I would NEVER spend that kind of money to live in a van, and my plan has been to live in something on wheels for some years now. As soon as life allows, I'll be out there! As you said, it's about saving money and being self-reliant. I absolutely dig this!
I am obsessed with all things tinyhouse/vanlife.. this is one of my favorite builds. I love the simplicity, and the cedar is so warm and inviting. Thank you for sharing!
Yep. There was a local girl folks kept complaining being a homeless. She lived in her original van for 5 yrs after she got out of Military. She was a nurse ft, 3 days at one hospital 3 days at another... shes also been selling stuff she builds. at her brothers she built a 1955 belair, swapped a challenger hellcats 6.2L in after building shell out... her brother an engineer at tesla? haha , he did the awd conversion based on a trackhawk. the inside interior was redone in emola brown, obsidian digital gauges, reverse camera and tesla screen. 6pt massive front brakes, quad rear 4pts...jesus. she drove it to last barrett jacksons to see auctions, someone offered her 400k in parkinglot. she laughed, said make it a million and its a deal. guy ended up says million five, so you wont change your mind! she ended up buying a 5th wheeler tinyhouse, sold her van, and got a f350 crewcab utl shortbed dually 4x4. She bought land and built 4 shedkit cabins. rentals have been EVERYDAY booked year straight. She just got a used highroofer and motor blew in it. Shes swapping a diesel from commercial van into. but shes sponsored 3 dv abuse survivors builds, in a rental shop space. Shes since paused nursing and is contemplating traveling nurse. she does remote cs for an insurance company which offers her insurance and etc. as well for a medical billing company, also offers her benefits for remote work. she earns more from home on a keyboard then at hospital. wowsers. im sure shes got other side hustles. all from a young woman people thought was homeless. hahaha.
@@boatnbustinylivingconversi5677 Hiya Jolianne . . . do you by chance have social platform that speaks to the immense issues here in regards to van type of life. Of course if someone has access to land or 'yard' to live at temp. or long term, then that is great, but Vancouver is absolutely not a place that is hospitable to this life I find especially with all the many that are being gone after {like on Slocan in E.Van}.
@@abeach5420 Hi, I mean most issues with campers are the people that squat and dont move. This lifestyle is supposed to be moving around out of respect or others. Alot of people just buy an RV and just park it in one spot and leave garbage everywhere. A home on wheels is ment to be used and moved around in. It's really sad that some people ruin it for others. As long as I move my van and dont stay for more then 1 night I dont get bothered. My friend Jessica has been living un her van for 5 years and moves constantly and doesnt have issues in Vancouver.
@@boatnbustinylivingconversi5677 Hiya ...that is great to hear. Yes a lot of people 'have' to buy a RV type vehicle in our horrendous housing rental market. I do not, but have gone to help a few people in those vehicles as that are little kids living in some and elderly folks in a bad way. I am glad to hear you are safe n' sound and no doubt have a great group of 'peeps' around you. I love your tin ceiling and of course your *guard dawg* haha.
Gas One makes a dual fuel version of her one burner stove that uses either butane or propane, about $35 on Amazon. I have one to compliment my Camp Chef 2 burner stove/oven, which I highly recommend. It'll bake a 9"x13" pan, or a 12 pound turkey. I love to cook and live fulltime in my van!
I love this build! I like how she managed to make the build cheap and still so comfortably and homey. And I could totally tell she's a hairdresser - she's got great hair!
Good for you! self sufficient. A DIY TIP: Look for Cabinet making shops that have a left over bin for free wood scraps they leave outside. In the two cities I live in I have seen that from my visits to the shops I have gone to for other things.
Very nice and cozy. You gals seem to really kno how to make it homely. I havent started my 7 window bus yet, still checking all mechanics first. I'm gonna start hanging out with women that have a van or bus cus my ideas are not near as great as yalls videos. I love ur simplicity, great job. Becareful n enjoy life.
Simple and convenient. I like it. However, if I had to spend $12,000 to keep it running, I would have sold the van "as is" and upgraded to something newer than a 1979 van.
I'm living in an 84 junkass RV. Im feelin ya there brother. Do your homework is the lesson here. Although. It is a sweet set up. And she's smokin hot. So the dude who ripped off. Oughta have his ass whooped!
Love Love your van! I have been planning 4.5 years to hit the road and I finally did it 11/1. Now just have to stay out there. Best of luck to you and happy trails!
Hope ya been well out there. Just love how brave you are and I love your simplicity and it stands out the most out of a 100 videos I've seen! Take care from louisiana.
Feels good to watch your video, you have done so well and will inspire others to live a free life. I like your attitude of giving it a go, its how we learn fast! Good luck and God bless x
Beautiful van. I've just finished my Mercedes 413 (which in hindsight was too big for what I needed. Still need to put in a little wood stove and solar but it's getting there.
You ladies that are out there living in your van are amazing. We lived in a van for a year and half not by choice but because I would not give up my 15 teen year old German shepherd he was are life and he never did any thing to be abandoned by us. So we sacrificed ourselves to save are fur child and would do again if had be. Good luck with your new Adventures. Love your van the smell of cedar is amazing.
Did she say 12 thousand dollars in repairs? Did she mean 12 hundred? Just bought an '86 Dodge Ram B250 in great condition. Great build, she should be proud!
It was 12000 over the last 4 years...new carburetor, fuel pump, water pump, Timing chain, distributor, exhaust pipe and muffler, new gas tank, battery, starter and all sorts of wiring and new seals for the transmission. It was alot over the years but now it works amazing!!
I just stopped back in to see your build again. Its one of my favorite van builds inexpensive interior build that looks great. You most certainly did a wonderful job it beautiful inside it definitely got the cozy comfy cabin vibe I love it... Also your little pom pup is adorable just as cute as can be. I have a pomchi half pom, half long hair Chihuahua. She acts like a pom, she has a pom personality, not a Chihuahua. Poms are super smart all they want to do is please their owner. They are very loyal and loving dogs. You can't ask for a better dog. Your pom is beautiful I bet he/she is fantastic company perfect van dog. I just love my little pomchi she is the best dog ever. Im sure you feel the same about your pom. You two take care of each other and be safe out there. Best Wishes
You can buy screen door weather stripping in rolls at the hardware store. Its cheap and it may require 1 or two layers but it works. I bought door seals on ebay that did seal my van get 1/2 or 1 inch stripping in rolls it has a tacky back side on it. 👍 😃
Awesome build. I did not see her fire extinguisher and fire/CO monitor. How nice that young people can recognize that you don’t need much to be happy, and you do not need much to escape the RAT RACE. She did a great job building her tiny home on wheels. Round of applause. Thanks for sharing.
I found you and your home very lovely. The doggies kinda cute too. Lol. I loved the wall behind your seats great all round build. Have fun but be safe always. You and that 4 legged baby enjoy, can't wait to see more of you two
The van looks amazing. Since I viewed this video less than 15 hours after it was posted, I figured there would be a chance the I could get one of the five 50% off coupons. Not to be a downer, but there was no button to press in order to add the coupon codes. Maybe this is a limitation because I tried to buy the battery via my phone. I couldn't even put in the 7% coupon code. The 50% would have been nice!
You are so awesome, I live out of a 1990 gmc vandura and I love it. I have everything I need in it, but of course the bed and the stove are my favorite items. I go down south for the winter and then travel up north for summer.
Great Build♡♡♡ I feel bad though $ 12 grand is outrageous---You have a wonderful cozy home and I love your Cedar & Tin on the ceiling!!! Best part is you don't have a mortgage and if you want to wake up next to the ocean you can❤❤❤
You built it for you and no one else! It was or is a start for you and it's better to have a van that you can work on, than none at all! I think you have done a nice job and remember it's you that's living there! Nice work! Stay safe and enjoy!
I admire you went for it and learned! I am stuck and want to act! I am 67 and want to change my life Noone understands but I am Air Force brat and remember moving every 3 years lived in an Airstream or base housing on the road in summer visiting family far away so am a gypsy in my soul! Thank you for sharing! Oh to be young again but when I get my Van it will take me back!
Yeah, those -30 degree days that come every winter in Ottawa is pretty impressive to be in a van. I'm sure she stocks plenty of wood for the fire in winter. There's always a week of those Uber cold temps.
Such a pretty van with such decent budget. You have done a great job girl! God bless you and make all your wishes come true. Lots of love from Bangladesh
THIS is exactly what you need. Nobody would ever think of breaking into a van like this. As I am a single woman myself I will style my van like this. I do have some building skills, though. Great work. Love it.
Being a solo female is very hard....vulnerable at all times and get ripped off quite easily. BUT you are ok and have great van. Cherish it and enjoy great outdoors life...free and happy.
This is definitely my kind of woman. I fell in love just watching her video. You're van came out absolutely beautiful. It's a cozy cabin on Wheels. I would do anything to have a nice cozy evening together sipping on a warm cup of tea by the fireplace playing a few card games while it was raining or snowing. ❤️❤️
