Just showing how I go about measuring / snapping / squaring out a foundation solo. Couple of squeeze clamps, couple of 2x scraps, a stringline, a 100' tape, and a chalkline.
Be sure to check out my linktree for links to my awesome one of a kind stickers for carpenters as well as links to tools and work wear I use!

I've often struggled with this part of framing because most foremen and lead carpenters I've worked with don't like to nor want to teach folks, probably because they like feeling like they're superior or have something over the other guys, kinda giving them a ball and chain so they can't ask for more money or run off to someone who will pay them more. Thanks for being a humble teacher. Guys like you help me remember why I love doing this for a living.

Keep at it and learn as much as you can, even if it's outside of work. Your knowledge of what you're doing is going to take you farther than breaking your back just doing 👍

RU-vid needed you badly dude. The post frame genre seems to be the hot topic over here but this is real world every day experience. Blue collar GSD style🤘. Happy you made the move and started this channel brother. It was much needed for the youngsters wanting to learn🙌

You know I appreciate the hell out of you here and over there! Can't wait to progress and start making some more polished videos as I relearn making long form videos. Not as easy as slapping together a couple of timelapses and hitting it with a trending audio, haha

Kickass. Thank you for taking the time to make this. Layout is just about the only thing that comes back to bite me if I don’t spend enough time to get it really dialed in like you did. Your tips for 1 man stuff help me out. There’s always a way to do it 1 man!

Excellent work Brother, I too am a one-man Crew. Great to see another out here sharing their tips. Always looking for that little thing I haven't thought of to make the job easier. One question i do have if you see this, Do you get that audience stopping by to watch the one-man show. Happens more than I would like.

Hell yeah man 🤘🤘 I too get the folks stopping by. Half of them to tell me I'm crazy, the other half to give my dog Morty some loving. Then quite a few to say what's up because they saw my videos on IG 😎

On the front wall line; I parallel all the the way across the garage,snap that, it helps keep all the parallel lines (even the front garage wall in perfect parallel since there referencing back to front and then forward or back from the front line

Have you contemplated the Stabila layout station? Seems expensive, but would definitely speed up a one man operation.

I've contemplated it for sure, and it definitely would help in a few areas. I've hounded Stabila to see if they're planning on coming out with a green laser version though. All I get are vague answers, And I know the second I dropped 2K on one they're going to come out with a green version and I'm going to be sad 🤣

When installing the sill do you ever overhang the sill a bit or always just go flush? I have heard different opinions ranging from flush to 1/4 inch overhang. I understand if the foundation is out of square a small amount you may have some overhang or even have the sill inset a small amount. Thoughts?

did you just pick a random run and rise
@luckydogconstruction
@luckydogconstruction Год назад
For the most part, I usually go 20' - 25' depending on the back wall depending on the window well location. Really should have just used the snapped line on the front wall for my rise. So with it being 40' and set back 3.5" on front and back my rise would have been 39' 5". Had a lot on my mind and done goofed, haha.
@darthslipknot91
@darthslipknot91 8 месяцев назад
From the little I know, you can pick any rise and run. 3-4-5 method allows you to do that and a framing calculator takes out most of the work for you.
