I just got back from riding that same area. I rode from east Texas, met a couple of youtube buddies and we rode all around that area and camped up there. I was stationed at K I Sawyer AFB in 1973 near Marquette. Purchased a new Kawasaki Z1900 when they first came our. Great memories of the UP. Over the years I have had many fast sport bikes but now own a 2022 KLR Adventure and its all I need. Thanks for the ride.

Great video Jerry. I still love cruising on the old thumper too. There’s just something about that easygoing pace. The bike seems to feel right at 60-70. Most people can drive all day and not feel beat up when they stop.

I just completed a 10 day, 2500 mile ride from Tampa to Nashville, over to the Smokey Mountain National Park, riding around Tennessee for a while, and then back home. Great time. The KLR was excellent.

Great video. Like your Dad might do, I settled for the KLR since the T7 wasn't available. I've been on fun trips with the KLR traveling the areas of NW Montana, Northern Idaho, and NE Washington State which look similar to this video with a smaller lake (Lake Pend Oreille). Grizzly bear, elk, mountain lions, moose, wolves, caribou, and wolverines all part of the adventure here. Unfortunately it's already getting into the 30's in the mountains. Yes, the white stuff is coming early this year which takes away from riding time :( Your Dad did a great job!!!!

I'd do a search for county land north of you. Some counties gate everything off (marathon county). But Lincoln and langland leave them open to all vehicles which includes road legal bikes.

Young man, take it from an old biker, when you hit those steel grates on a bridge, don't ride straight over them. Zig zag your bike and you will ride on top, instead of your tires getting into those grooves, causing your bike to shimmy. FYI.

Suggestion for your dad to get on the bike. Instead of making a straight right leg and extending it over the seat, put his left foot on the left foot peg, stand up, and then swing his right leg over the seat. Much easier.
