Ranks are extremely important. There's massive gap between them. Speed, strength, durability are just some of the ways ranks show their differences. The fact is Jinwoo at this point is not an E rank. Dongsuk a c rank couldn't even react to Jinwoo's face palm. The D ranks stand no chance. This is why it's so easy for him to kill them once he commits to it. Jinwoo is just too fast and strong for them.

FYI false rankers go for lower rankings so they can be paired with other lower rankers in lower tier dungeons and kill those lower ranked hunters and not just monsters....that's why Jin Ho was scared. When Jin Ho mentions they like to kill he means other hunters.

I love this episode. The music, it perfectly represents how SAD this moment is, even if we as spectators think it's cool. Jinwoo is being FORCED to end human lives. Also the POV of the mage as Jinwoo kills him, is so great.

Someting to note is that in the og material the system straight up asked him to "kill" not "defeat" those guys. I dont know why they changed it here, the meaning is the same. The system wouldnt accept him just knocking them out or something, since this wouldnt "ensure his safety". Hunters recover much faster than regular humans + there is healing magic in this world and they could come after him again really fast if he did that. Also his penalty for not completing this quest changed after the mage attacked him, into "your heart will stop". Nice reactions!

This world has high tier healing magic. To the point that even the most debilitating injuries can be reversed as if they didn't happen. So the idea of non lethal resolution in this case is close to zero.

The penalty of not doing the quest was "your heart will stop" so it is kill or be killed. Also, if he let thay guy go, he will do the same crime again. In the world we live in, yes there are things that can be left to the law but sadly in Jinwoos world it is different. That is also why he said "how could I forget" 😢. Remember at ep 1 and 2, we could see Jinwoo was a kind and nice person but that leads to him getting betrayed and almost die. So his mindset is changing. 😊 Also, when Jinwoo was watching the rain, we could see that even if he lost part of his morality he is still a kind brother. Some humanity remains even after murder.

Regardless of rules of engagement. Jin-woo had basically a gun to his head (by a system that sent him to a desert to be chased by monsters for 4 hours because he didn't do enough pushups). The moment the quest came up, whatever his enemies said or did, Jin-woo was going to die if he didn't kill every single one of them. Even if all 6 of them stopped the very moment they realized how strong he was. At that point it's basically 'whose life do you value more'? If they were innocents then there'd be reason for him to sacrifice his own life to the system that currently rules him, even if it meant he would never see his sister again. But in this case, he'd be willingly dying for a gang of unrepentant murderers. Are people called murderers if they kill someone with a gun to their heads? I imagine it'd be closer to involuntary manslaughter.

Thinking beyond just morality here, but Dongsuk and his cronies have done this sort of thing several times before and destroyed a lot of lives. Dongsuk would likely continue that path since we have seen how criminals usually continue their illegal activities inside as well as after prison time. Actually, the way Dongsuk was portrayed, he seems the type that would come back with his brother and a new team to go after not just Sung, but his family and friends out of pure revenge. It may be cold and immoral to some, but never leave an enemy behind (especially if in a dungeon where the evidence disappears) it never ends well. Going into the rhyme and reason for why these magic beasts are coming through; I can see a couple of possibilities. Either some "evil" force is causing this disturbance for some kind of gain, or these dimensional beings are trying to communicate (maybe they have seen humans playing video games and think that is how they interact normally).

this is the only thing ruining the experience a bit for those who haven t read the manwha, translation mistakes, source material specifies "kill" and not "defeat", "drain" is actually called "bleed", the "murderous intent" skill should be "bloodlust", those "changes, if they are indeed being changed on purpose, or just messing it up, make a different. The system "ordered" him to kill or his heart would stop, I don t think there was much to consider , specially when he knew those guys were trash

Ranks are very much the classification. You don't beat a higher Rank however much effort you put in unless there are circumstances that even out the advantages (gear, skills, class etc. experience to use terrain, group actions etc. for your advantage). The ranks don't work like the classification of weight classes in sports, where you can shift. The ranking goes like a wind/hurricane scale.

If they follow the manhwa in the next episode, there will be greater interaction/explanation about the advantages of the system. System is just a system. The difference in power between the ranks is something close to 10x1, a D rank is equivalent to ten E ranks and so on, although there are variations in power between those of the same rank. That's why he's reluctant about him being an E rank. It was omitted in the episode, but in the manhwa he concludes, like Jinho, that Jinwoo is a false rank which would explain his power. There is a flaw in the translation, in the manhwa the system says "slay all enemies" and not "defeat" and that's why the system only counts 6 after he d3c@pitates Hwang. Jinwoo's rank is between C+ and B- now.

I just finished reading the whole manwha (took me two days😅) and MAN I cannot wait for some of the fights/moments to be animated!

15:55 Nah, there's no letting them escape. Originally in the manhwa, the system message said "Slay them all." Pretty clear cut it wants them dead. There's more than one reason for it, but you won't find that out for like 5-6 seasons haha.

they dont put "too much on the ranks things" because the rank you get will NEVER change. so if someone is stronger then you they will always be stronger then you. Jin woo is a complete anomaly so the Head of 6 villain is actually thinking logically. you as the watcher know jin woo can be strong because of what we see from his perspective so it was never them putting "too much on the rank things"

A normal E rank would NEVER be able to defeat a rank D and up, same goes with all the ranks. If your a rank C, you'd never be expected to defeat a rank B and up. The power gaps between the ranks are incredibly massive. A E rank would be too slow to be able to hurt a D rank or above. 16:20 Technically Jinwoo could have easily knocked them all out, he is a lot more powerful than them all, since he has the power of a high ranked hunter, while they all have the power of low ranks, which is a ginormous power gap that I guess you can see in how he kills them, if they were high ranks, they'd be able to follow his movements and fast and durable enough to fight back but they aren't but the system means "kill them" its unfortunately mistranslated. 16: 43 I agree with another comment on how sad the killing scene actually is, like yes it looks cool but I feel like its basically mourning the loss of his innocence, and to me the music sounds sad, rather than cold? 18:53 I think the most accurate way to put this into that perspective would be, is it still looked on as murder if you had a gun to your head, telling you to kill the person, who tried to kill you because in your scenario, your life is not in danger if you accept their surrender so it makes sense to accept that surrender. Jinwoo never had that option in front of him because he would have died if he'd accepted that surrender. A lot of people see that umbrella scene as Jinwoo being really cold but I see it as Jinwoo trying to distract himself and think back to this morning, when he didn't have blood on his hands Great video :D

1st opponent, hold a knife to their throat doesn't count as "defeated". 2nd & 3rd guys, paralysing them doesn't count as defeated. Last guy disarmed and begging for his life doesn't count as defeated. In each case (save the first) there is a moments pause to check whether The System's conditions had been met before the final blow. The guys with ranged attacks were too much of a danger to do any tests.

a D rank that's never trained a day in his life and knows no martial arts could easily beat a giant buff E rank who's a black belt in every martial art. That's the gap What training your body and technique does is decide your place in your own rank. E.g. a D rank trained in Martial arts and strong would beat a D rank that's untrained, but never a C rank

Killing changes you, even if it was justified, even if its' in self-defense. Taking another human life will change you forever. What you once were is gone. Something else has taken your place. You can compartmentalize all you want, but you the threat of trauma is too real. So many of my fellow Veterans wouldn't have PTSD if that wasn't the case.
