Come along on my solo trip up the mountaineers route to the highest point in the continental United States at 14,505 ft. I only saw two other people my whole climb and had the summit and upper mountain all to my self.
This climb was completed on March 23 2022 and conditions were beautiful and very warm for this time of the year. This was a very low snow year and I was planning on skiing but left skis in car after talking to some other climbers.
Getting a permit to climb Whitney within the season can be very difficult and requires winning a lottery yet during the off season getting a permit (still required) is easy. Please note that during the offseason the climb requires mountaineering gear as well as the knowledge and experience to use it properly. This video doesn't show many of the more exposed sections due to not getting footage but any climb in winter conditions in the high Sierras should be taken seriously.
