I'm working my way slowly through your videos, and this one is definitely my favourite so far. So much wildlife that I'm sure I've never heard of or read about before. The food stuff that you featured really caught my attention too.... sure it's 'only' grapefruit and ginger but they're things which I would never have thought of as just growing there in the jungle! Hi! Amazing video! I also watched your 5 days solo packrafting video! Im planing a trip to the amazon river with some friends to make a documentary film. We are planing to get a guide for some of the trip, but we are hoping to also travel alone for some parts of it. Do you have any recommendation for rafting alone in the Amazone? Any good places to begin? Should we maybe rent a boat with an engine? Thanks in advance:)
Thanks for watching! Wow, great questions. I would recommend a guide for at least the beginning of your trip so you can learn some basics. I would try to stay with wider rivers which are safer due to less turbulence. You may need to hire a motorboat to reach your put in location. If you are completely unfamiliar with either packrafting, the rainforest, Spanish/Portuguese or the area you plan to go I suggest hiring a guide for the entire trip. Maybe he could even help with the camera work. The biggest reason is that you could miss your take out location after which there is no walking back. Please be safe!
I eat less than I do when I'm hiking because I'm sitting in the boat most of the day. I do fresh and frozen for 2 days then move to dehydrated meals I make. I also make meals for DIY hikers in the Cusco area here: incachef.com My tourists also get a mix of fresh and dehydrated. Thanks for watching.
I am a BA in biology with emphasis in botany and pre med. I didn't finish unfortunately, 9 units short. I was originally interested in ethnobotany. I would say my profession now is tour operator and guide and soon I will be returning to Hollywood for background, stand-in, precision driver and photo double work.

There are occasionally smaller caimans along the banks in the "Upper" Madre de Dios R. but there are more and they get bigger in the "Lower" Madre de Dios R. In this area you're more likely to see them near Lake Machuwasi, but they are very shy.
