Very commendable effort to push through that incredibly tough, and at times, unforgiving terrain, both mentally and of course physically, Mattsy! Looks like the clouds parted as soon as the bracelet was thrown into the Pigsty ponds, and the sun shone brightly to lift your spirits! Well done, now go and get some nice hot coffee, a warm bed and finish off the Lord of the Rings!

Those eagles were like bunjil giving you a sign. You passed the mission. Thanks for documenting all your thoughts and emotions. Pushing through and continuing on was such a show of your strength of character. Hearted melted when Grace rocked up with a welcome sign and flowers. What legends you both are.

Haha I think you might be right! It was so damn cool to see them, the GoPro didn’t really show it but he came so low and close to me as he circled. Kept turning his head in to look at me. It was wild. And Grace is an absolute gem 😊

Your wit, charm & charisma make u a special person bro. In such a challenging environment, It's lovely & warming to see your partner greet you so caringly when you needed it the most.. Mattsy, I watched this video in two parts. My first stopping point was when you spent the night in the saddle. I fully expected to continue watching and see you go back to the car park. Much to my surprise, you didn’t let the black dog get you and we were rewarded with some enchanted looking views. Good on ya for having the grit and resolve to finish your goal. I know it was a struggle. That white mist and those mountains looked amazing. One of your best videos yet! PS. All that building up and then only throwing the bracelet a couple feet had me laughing. Lol. All that effort to throw it down basically at your feet. Hilarious.

Mate, that was a great one, so good to push on and complete as first intended. Trust me if you didn't do it it would haunt you. Me and my mates attempted a hike and had to stop short cause it was so brutal, we were saying we would never come back but a few months past and we realized we cant let it beat us and already we're planning our return.
@TheSillySwagman
@TheSillySwagman 20 дней назад
That’s so true! I’ve had a couple similar moments and always had to go back, and to be honest I knew deep down that even though I said I’d never come back… the real reason I kept going was because I knew I would and I thought… bloody hell, I may as well do it while I’m already up here 😂 But yeah mate, so very true. Good luck on your round 2!

I've watched this one about 5 times since you put it out - what a bloody great metaphor for life to have a crack... and... get rewarded... by eagles trying to... *Checks notes* eat you. Absolute ripper, looking forward to whatever comes next. Just hope it isn't the discover of a wedgetail big enough to have a crack.

Hahahaha! 😂🤣 Have a crack, sun comes out all glorious like, and then eagles have a go at flying off with you. Heading off to film again this weekend for a few nights! 💪 Used all my fantasy points up on this one so will be interesting to see (yes for me too because it’s always on the fly) what spin I put on this average hike 🤔

You're so much more chipper recently. Grace is having a positive effect on you, Mattsy. It's good to see. If it weren't for the fact the video was uploaded, I would have been worried about you part way into this one. That was one wet, cold, windy, nasty walk. I'm sure you've got a PLB on you and you're undoubtedly well-trained, but it doesn't make it any less worrying. Only you can say if it was worth it for that payoff when you finally made it, but it was a beautiful place and incredible achievement, and, as you said, you'd likely never be making another attempt, so get it while you can. When you started getting worn out, it really put into perspective just how hard this one must have been. It was not that long ago you basically power-walked the Viking Circuit with poor, exhausted Luke in tow as you pushed on seemingly effortlessly. You're a madman at times, but also an inspiration to the rest of us. One thing I'd like to bring up, given that you're in Tassie right now, did you look into the requirements/permissions from Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service for content creation in parks? A few creators have run afoul of them in the not so distant past, and while I'm not current on where TPWS and these creators are at now, I'd hate to see you on the receiving end of any grief. It's ridiculous, but worth checking.
@TheSillySwagman
@TheSillySwagman 24 дня назад
Hey mate! Yes, I agree, Grace is definitely having a positive effect on me. We’re very happy we found each other 😄 Definitely have a PLB and I’m not afraid to call it if it’s getting to dangerous or anything, I just knew I was rocked from a rough first day and I wasn’t actually in life threatening danger, just needed to refocus and get back on the trail and I’m glad I did. But you definitely do have to know your limits and know when you’re in too deep. And mate! I know! I can’t believe how destroyed my legs felt as I started to get closer to the top. I obviously missed filming loads because it would be repetitive but it took a couple hours at least to get up the top, probably closer to three, and I just put it down to not having done a hike for nearly a month and also the amount I was sweating in that humid forest. Shorts for the ascents next time, even if it is winter. Also, I was falling over from that mud up on the plateau literally every 20-50m, SO MUCH. So yeah, so much that doesn’t get filmed. It was chaos 😂 too long between hikes for sure. And yep, all over the Parks situation. I had to apply and pay for a filming permit for the year, it was approved and came with a set of guidelines which I’ve not broken. They’re stupid rules and I have no idea why if you don’t film you can do these things but if you are filming then you can’t?? Ridiculous. Anyway! Thanks for checking in that I was aware of it mate 😊 I hope you’re well!

Man. Tough hike. Only yesterday (Monday) I came back from the hike with a mate to Pigsty Ponds. We had 3 nights 4 days. We camped just below that lake where you tossed the bracelet. Pretty much constant wet and at one point we thought the winds were about 120 km/hr. Hated putting on cold wet clothes in the morning and setting off again. The weather cleared for us for a few hours Sunday. Very tough hike. Great work sir.

Bloody awesome 😄 Glad to hear you can summon the willpower to push through as well, mate. It’s not always easy. Thanks for watching!

@@TheSillySwagman Thanks mate. It’s hard sometimes but you just gotta fight through and also realise that sometimes when you don’t that’s ok as well.

Just discovered your channel from here in the States and seeing Aussie wildlife is such a surprise. Here we see deer, marmots and raccoons, you wombats and wallabes!! Have to ask about your jacket/parka and that pack, brands? Dont think i have seen a pack that long and narrow. The video was well done with the addition of the Tale, give Gracie a peck on the cheek, you gotta keep her.

It’s pretty awesome how the plants and animals vary around the world isn’t it! The jacket is a Helikon-Tex Pilgrim Anorak and the Pack is handmade in New Zealand by Southern Lite Packs. This one is great because the material is tougher than a typical lightweight pack as he designed it to be used by hunters, so it’s still light but won’t get a hole every time it snags. I actually gave Grace that peck on the cheek as I read that haha She sure is mate! And don’t I know it! Thanks for watching 😄

This is my favourite video that you have filmed. Now you understand why most Tassie boys join the Navy, not the RAR. You are tougher than most other humans which you meet daily. Being a former infantryman, the feeling of weakness and being 'less than' probably follows you like ancient guilt. Hopefully not, However, it sometimes affects me thirty years later. I am proud of your self-expression and how you deal with life. Please Keep it up. (Ex-old faithful)

Mattsy that was so entertaining ……so entertaining!! Only you could have made light of such a difficult situation. That black dog can drag you down if you weaken , …… been there … pulling on an inner strength that is there , and mate it is there believe you me . If one allows it ( the black dog ) to win and control you down you go further and further. Push on , it’s hard , bloody hard but rise on over the rim . Always looking forward to your next ‘ We done it again’. !!!😉😉……
