46:26 Ricky after I bring him spicy food. And yes just like ya said we wanted you to get torn apart. Especially with that Rock Star t-shirt, you ain't their yet! Gotta work hard for it, waiting for more Guitar playing videos to decide to hate on fr fr. Such a W vid, left a passionate dislike.
If you’re looking for bands like them I’d suggest Black Midi, they’ve played together and BCNR references them by name on their previous album (which is also a great album). Also maybe Godspeed! You Black Emperor
Some thoughts: I love people hearing this album for the first time, this video definitely feels like listening to it with a friend. The Place Where He Inserted The Blade is genuinely my vote for best piece of recorded music ever. Everything about it makes sense, as both a recording and as a piece of music it's one of those things that seems simply inevitable-- there are some things that simply have to exist and exist exactly as they do. Mathematician Paul Erdos, of truly great proofs, said that they were "from the book", referring to his belief of a book in heaven of all of the most perfect proofs of all of the mathematical theorems. This song is from The Book. Also wanted to point out the pianist, May Kershaw, who also sings background vocals on this album-- all of my favorite moments from BCNR's discography are basically because of her playing. I wouldn't necessarily say that she's the stand-out member of the band, no individual is, but I notice the piano more than any other instrument. She sang lead and played accordion and piano on The Boy from Live At Bush Hall, which I very much recommend checking out.
I strongly suggest Car seat Headrest, especially "Teens of denial" "Twin fantasy" and my personal favorite "How to leave town" (the ending of dramamine is one of my favorite songs oat)
you should listen to the pilgrim, their god and the king of my decrepit mountain by tapir! some really nice south london indie folk with electronic elements at times
The band has one more studio album that came out before this one but sadly right before AFUT was released, Issac Wood (the singer) left the band. They have a live album that came out last year thats really good too, just this time 3 of the other members take turns singing lead vocals. Seeing how much you liked this one I really hope you check out the others :)
awesome reaction, your taste is great :) i think you might be into some of quadeca's music, based on what you've been listening. he just dropped a new album (mixtape, technically), and that and the album before it are truly masterpieces imo, id love to hear your takes on them if youre interested
Dude your reaction was way better than anyone could've expected. I don't relisten to it ALL the time but it's always an experience when you do. Definitely feels like a quest with hardship and heartbreak For the 2020s my top 3 so far are BCNR - Ants, JID - The Forever Story, The Strokes - The New Abnormal
if you're interested in other stuff like this, Arcade Fire and Godspeed You Black Emperor are two of the biggest influences on this album, and you'll probably be getting a lot requests for both of them going forward if you haven't already
Youve completely nailed the combination of entertaining and relatable reaction and insightful commentary. I watch like literally every reaction channel and you are by far my favorite. keep uploading all of the bands I love! More deftones and radiohead! Maybe tool! Also check out "for the first time" by BCNR, you will not be disappointed.
Love the reaction. If you want more bands who came from the same scene as BCNR at the same time check out Black midi. The bands are good friends and came up from the same venue but very different sounds!
YO HE DID IT! FIRE VID!!! insane first listen and glad you loved this! (also someone else mentioned this but quadeca dropped a mixtape recently and its really interesting to say the least) I gotta share some cool thoughts from this : -the main singer Isaac, is no longer with the band citing mental health, but he left on good terms. but you can really feel the emotion and care he and the band put into these songs. -in Chaos Space Marine as the song is ending they make references to future tracks like a preview : billie eilish style (good will hunting), a concorde will fly (concorde lmfao), ignore the hole i've dug again (haldren). -in Concorde, the image of climbing so high for someone just to "look for your light", but from the perspective of the Concorde (probs the love interest in the song), the gentle hill racer is tiny, as we all look like ants from up there. (stole this from the genius page lmfaoo) -the whole album to me feels like someone who's really dependent and in love with another person but things just don't work out, the desperation really shows in the singer's voice for me. as much as the man wanna move he he just can't. It especially on Good Will Hunting, The Place Where He Inserted The Blade and GODDAMN on Basketball Shoes. -the original lyrics for Basketball Shoes were about the main singer having wet dreams about Charlie XCX "in my bedsheets now wet, of charlie I pray to forget". crazy how he made this song from that starting point LMFAO. In the music nerd side of the internet people absolute LOVE this album and I can really see why. It's a lot of emotion for it to be something I'd personally listen to often but I do agree with the 10/10 rating u gave lol. fire vid!
good taste :-) snow globes is experimental yeah and not for everyone but it might be one that grows on you, not from the first listen!! its one of the most incredible on the album aside from basketball shoes (which by the way, listen to the live version, its one of the most wonderful things) its so gutwrenching, the build-up and the climax of snow globes are so emotional. the drums remind me of turbulence like the concorde plane motif or like shaking a snow globe
u gotta watch their live version of basketball shoes, one of the greatest things ive ever heard. u should also check out jean dawson’s pixelbath and jane remover’s frailty!
An incredible album that has a similar vibe to this album would be that of the Brazilian band "Los Hermanos", the name of the album is "Bloco do eu Sozinho" (block of me alone).
"The Place Where He Inserted the Blade" is such a beautiful song. So delicate to the ears... Also, you should listen to "The Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance. This album bangs super hard. It's a deep concept album.
this was an experience. So glad to be alive for it and being able to watch other people experience it too. Thank you so much for sharing your reaction with us!!!!!
Please listen to nine inch nail's "the fragile" long one but amazing, love ur reactions bro, nothing better then watching someone who really loves music react to a great album 🙏
If you like this, id recommend funeral by arcade fire, they definitely inspired this a lot. Unfortunately their lead singer has been accused of some nasty shit, but i still think their music stands alone
@@SoloRicky_ yurei (ghost) one of their worse songs imo- still like a high 8, but yeah I’d agree their stuff is quite poetic. The lyrics always talk about very abstract things in very abstract ways
