If you listen to their cover on happier than ever (the vinyl one) when they all scream "just fucking leave me alone", the sax kicks in and begins to scream like hell its really cool
One of the only times I listened to an album for the first time and immediately thought it was one of the best albums I’ve ever heard and I was certain it wasn’t recency bias
tracklist: intro - 0:42 chaos space marine - 1:15 concorde - 3:31 bread song - 6:26 good will hunting - 9:33 haldern - 12:32 mark's theme - 15:14 the place where he inserted the blade - 16:15 snow globes - 21:01 basketball shoes - 24:35 amazing album for an amazing utuber!
The Concord was something majestic, almost unbelievable in its gravity-defying power, but it was also, in the end, a spectacular failure that was ended permanently in 2003.
Their debut “for the first time” is equally as fantastic, it has a bit of maniac sound in how it’s composed like of lot of bands to have come out of the “windmill scene” at the time (black midi, BCNR, Squid)
Favorite album of all time. I often wish I could listen to this for the first tjme again. Absolutely loved your reaction to it. Also cracked me up a few times, especially the deadpan "I have no idea what he's talking about" while jamming to the song lmao
You should listen to Big Thief's album from last year, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You, i think you would absolutely love it. Great video btw your killing it
btw, the violinist has her own project where she sings in a duo (the other guy is a DJ) and they have put out a critically aclaimed album last year, they are called Jockstrap and the album is called "I Love You Jennifer B", it is nothing like this record, but most Black Country New Road and Black Midi fans love it too
You can literally see his man shaking from the music orgasm at the end of Basketball Shoes. Also while I’m at it about the song, the verse “so if you see me looking strange with a fresh style I’m still not feeling that great” is followed up by a more upbeat Midwest emo section out of completely nowhere, then the final sections of the track are a full on mask off emotional breakdown, quite the meta commentary for one track. The Midwest emo section also includes lyrics talking about his sweater, maybe he’s got some new cottagecore/dark academia look with the big sweaters or whatever fits. it took me a lot of listens and readings to really catch this but now it’s hard to miss
OMG I RECOMMENDED THIS BAND!!!! SOOOO COOL THAT U FINALLY GOT TO THEM, BEEN LISTENING TO THEM THESE PAST FEW WEEKS. LOVE YA MAN KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK 👍
King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard discography is a fun one to dive into. They’ve released 24 studio albums after only forming in 2010. A whole of genres and sounds. I’d recommend starting with Nonagon Infinity and working your way from there.
I love your videos man! your commentary is very engaging, just the way you talk is so smooth, I could watch your videos for hours. Ants from up there is one of my favorite albums, every second of it is just perfect, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I have 2 recommendations for you, Elliott Smith self titled, and I'm wide awake its morning by Bright Eyes.
This is my favorite album of all time. Has been for many months now. Your reaction made it feel like my first listen as well. Can’t thank you enough for doing that to me. It means so much. Keep at it bro much love
@@anthonykonstantinou5378 dude all great picks, love me some Joey especially. My top 5 after afut is the ooz by king krule, grace by Jeff Buckley, a tie between Spiderland by slint and glow p2 by microphones than mercurial world by Magdalena bay at 5
@@davidk05okay sounds like I got some work to do then. I've only listened to spiderland and the glow pt 2. You down to exchange some social media or better yet last FM? We seem to like the same stuff
I have to strongly agree with the suggestion of Big Thief’s Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You. That was my AOTY 2022 but both BCNR Ants and Hellfire by black midi were close. Adrienne Lenker of Big Thief is my main guitar inspiration along with Daniel Rossen from Grizzly Bear.
perfect reaction to concorde. i react the same way i hear that track no matter how many times i listen to it, that last bridge and chorus always gets me. also you're funny as hell man
I’m going to try to be as consistent as you with my album recommendations. So, for your consideration: Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam Brand New - Science Fiction The Mars Volta - The Mars Volta Keep up the good work dude!
I adore this album. Been a fan since for the first time and I have really grown to love anything to do even the more recent stuff without the frontman. Haldern is probably my favourite song on the album. Crazy that is was basically 90% made in an improv setting which is even on youtube.
This is one of my favorite albums ever, it's incredible. Either this or the Quadeca album would be the best of 2022 in my opinion so I recommend the Quadeca one lol (although it isn't all that similar to this but it's amazing just trust). Also I can't believe you upload 56 times a second, insane consistency 🔥
one of the most impressive albums ive ever heard, glad u liked it :) if u havent already u should listen to radiohead, especially in rainbows, kid a or ok computer. they are the best band in history imo
Damn, that was a great reaction, and now I really hope you do a reaction to "For The First Time", which is their debut album and I like it even more than Ants personally.
Intro 0:39 Chaos Space Marine 1:14 Concorde 3:30 Bread Song: 6:23 Good Will Hunting 9:30 Haldern 12:31 Mark's Theme 15:13 The Place Where He Inserted the Blade 16:14 Snow Globes 21:00 Basketball Shoes 24:35
you should do a reaction video watching the Live At Bush Hall performance. All new content and plays like an album, incredible back to front even without the AFUT singer/songwriter, Isaac, who sadly left the group days after AFUT dropped to focus on his mental health.
Okay smagsy, I have a challenge for you. On 28th July an album is released called ‘the ones ahead’, by Beverley Glenn-Copeland. Go and react to it on release day. Off what I have heard this album is something else.
Cool. You should check out Bitch Magnet. Similar aspects to Slint with more aggression. Either of their only two studio albums are awesome. Umber and Ben Hur.
I knew you would love this one. It is one of my most replayed albums. Another one you should check out is "Suddenly Everyone Explodes" by Plastic Mermaids. They are one of my favorite newer bands.
The final lines of the album “your generous loan to me, your crippling interest” is referring to the fans of the band. The fame and pressure drove the frontman Isaac to a deep depression, causing him to leave the band right before the release of this album. The “generous loan” is the fans giving them love and support and fame, but came at a cost. “Crippling interest”, like interest on a loan, but also the interest the fans/media took to the band, which ended up being so crippling to him he couldn’t take it anymore
probably not true this song was made very early bcnr days like they had performed it in 2019 . i take the lyrics as meaning like the loan was the relationship and the interest is the affect it left on him
The lead singer, Isaac Wood, departed the band days before this album released for his mental health and well-being. But bc,nr has continued making music with several band member sharing lead vocals duties. I hope you react to their 3rd album Live from Bush Hall. It’s amazing and arguably rivals this album evening without Isaac.
yo bro pleaase react to 'A Larum' by Johnny flynn, its an amazing folk rock/singer songwriter album with some of the best lyrics and multi-instrument songs ive heard, all done by ONE DUDE!! hope ya doing well either way!
