I was at a venue not long ago.There was a few people looking for trouble checking people out.I noticed them and they stared at me then i heard them say he looks like a happy (Racial Slur), leave him alone then they left.I had total control of my emotions and body not letting the big talk bother me or get angry.I would feel very sad if someone had reacted to them if they decided to look at someone else.Great system you have Adam Chan! nice too see your always helping people find the truth.Yes actions have consequences Ying Yang but people dont think Peace!

And a good feature of using 'Lateral' movement is, you move AWAY from his opposite side, which reduces the opponents ability to apply his other hand. Of course, a quick man can simply twist at the waist and redirect his attack---which is precisely WHY we practise PRECISION, and VELOCITY!

Awesome video. Adam is spot on about the reptilian animal brain taking over if you don't remain calm. I had spent a few years practicing Wchun only to resort to a grappling caveman during a real fight encounter. I was so worked up I totally forgot all the wing Chun I had practiced and it never dawned on me to use it. Even tho I won the fight I was mad at myself for not being calm enough to apply anything. It was definitely a learning experience of the mind.

Diffuse any surprise encounter, relaxingly take away the effort. Passiveness might also calm the aggressions. It's your body structure, used to fail the opponents aggression/attack while starving them of effective resources in motion. 🙏 consecutive motion, benign intent.

Nice advice in the end, I want to ask about not being scared. Is there any way to train your eyes so you can really see clearly what's coming during sparring, is it natural or do I just have to brace and spar more to train it?
@greewaltgreewalt7533
@greewaltgreewalt7533 3 года назад
The only way to get over being scared and traing your eyes is buy sparing realistically. Everything you do in training and practice is theory only
@MustAfaalik
@MustAfaalik 3 года назад
@Samuel. It is normal to be scared. Practice your basics, know its intrinsic mechanism then learn when and best way to apply. Practice drills until it is imprinted into your subconscious, bearing in mind that you train one way and fight another. Train your instinctive knowledge with drills, instead of your eyes. Being mindful connects you to the present that provides the zone for your subconscious to take over. Thats when you become deadly. Make peace, be kind, be gentle with others and yourself. Hope it helps.
@freddavis6348
@freddavis6348 3 года назад
Sparring helps a lot, It makes you more comfortable, the goal is too be calm and relaxed, develop your touch sensitivity, as soon as you make contact with your opponent you will feel their intentions.
@greewaltgreewalt7533
@greewaltgreewalt7533 3 года назад
Sensitivity training is just theory. Judo is sensitivity training in application as soon as you feel the person shift in weight you execute your throw. I wing chun a lot of schools only practice sensitivity through chi Sao which give you a base for sensitivity of hand movement. But it is very very different when you are doing heavy sparring against someone throwing hay makers. Have someone throw jabs at you greet the jab when it comes out with a straight palm and follow the jab back to the opponent and make contact in accordance with wing Chun philosophy. Of attack and defend at the same time. Arts do not fail be cause of the training system they fail because of the practioner and the limit the practioner puts on his imagination of his application of the arts philosophy
@freddavis6348
@freddavis6348 3 года назад
As a fellow judo practitioner I can only agree. However wrestling is just as good in the right hands. As you said the practitioner is only limited by his imagination.

Even if it is through internet it is obvious that it is a genuine combat knowledge. Some people are naturally born fighters and they just get it, others may train for decades and cannot do it. I think the main idea of defense is how to stop a fight as fast as possible without hurting the opponent too much. The self defense fight should not last more than 6,7 seconds.

A person has to be HIGHLY trained, as well as EXTREMELY QUICK with his/her reflexes in order to be able to use the Striking hand in providing the diminishing of the opponents "Power strike.'' I can't emphasize it enough; Good, rapid lateral movement, in combination with a good solid 'Slap-block,' followed immed- iately by a strong offensive attack, is every bit as effective, and Yet----less problematic than having to deal with a "bigger" dude who may well be faster than you think! And the Lateral move tech- nique can be learned much quicker, with a bit less training time, then the technique that is taught here. But Hey---to each his Own! If one feels they can apply the 'Strike- block' technique effectively against a bigger, stronger dude, then, by all means...Go for it.

Please don't take this the wrong way but I am only asking because I am new to WChun. I get the difference between an exercise and application but in this, it seems that to use this when u need to "feel" when the punch is coming.....your not gonna be able to apply this in a fight because your not going to be doing the flow with your opponent. Could someone explain this please?

Feel free to not answer. I dont wanna do this because of some of the statement you have made. How did bruce lee modify Wing chin? Mostly interested in chi sau but absolutely anything would be beyond gold to me. Some tiny boring insignificant part no one would have ever cared about. I would be yelling with joy. I see some things like he moved a foot back and put more forward pressure changed the angle of the feet in chi sau. I watched Paul vunak explain chi sau and he used a basketball in one arm. Rubber banded his other arms elbow to his chest so it wouldn't move. Then he spun the ball one arm bong Saus and the other arm just turns the wrist. Thoughts on this? I think its easier to learn but its missing some energy. Like the 2 arms at once moving the elbows from the body has a different feel. Its more lazerD in. Thanks for your time I'll be sure to check out the videos you have posted I haven't watched yet. I learn so much more in a 5 minute video of u than an hour of instructional videos I have watched. Really liked the relax to counter the roundhouse video.
