I like that sometimes you "talk" (well, give us subtitles) in the video as if we're there with you haha "we'll meet at Hakata station and then we'll go to Ichiran" feels a bit more personal. My favorite part weirdly enough gotta be the furin, absolutely loved the sound they make!!! Note to self: don't watch food videos while hungry. Now I want ramen hahahahaha

I've enjoyed the fact that you love to eat, and seeing all of the dishes you get. This was enjoyable because I got to see some dishes I had never heard of and get a description and review from you. More of these will be appreciated. Also, any unique aspects of the cities/areas you visit would be interesting as well.

It really is quite clean, especially compared to neighboring South Korea which doesn't do a very good job with waste management, which I lived in for 5 years. I recall walking the streets of Ginza and the streets were spotless with not even a hint of trash.

The setup at Ichiran is odd, but kind of magical. I love the idea of a place where you sit in something like a library nook, press a button, the wall opens up, and mysterious hands give you noodles. :)

It's not fancy, but it is very good: I love zaru soba. It's easy to make, it's not very expensive, and it is by far one of the best cold-noodle dishes around, to me. Just boiled buckwheat soba noodles chilled, then laid out on that cute little bamboo mat with green onion bits and crispy little nori strips on top. The ritual of getting a portion in chopsticks, anointing it with the delicious soba sauce, and slurping that taste up is oddly soothing and satisfying to me, all at once.

The furin at the shrine really makes people who hear it feel cooler. When I first hear it at the scene of the gate of the shrine, my first thought was "wow the sound makes me feel the breeze" idk if that make sense😂 then the scene changes to all of the furin hanging and the explanation of it and I'm even more amazed by it because it's true🥺 p.s. in need of a furin ASAP 😗 edit: My favourite part gotta be when you're trying to divide the umegae mochi but it's too hot and so you point the camera towards the people walking peacefully while you are having a fight with the hot mochi😂😂

I ate Ichiran a lot when I visited Japan a few summers ago- it was just so good! I would get a second order of noodles too haha 😄 One city I went to even had two locations very close to each other because it's so popular! I think the company sells packs to take home so you can make it yourself, but I'm afraid it won't be the same. Maybe you can try it someday? Thank you for making these videos. I watch them at work and they always make me relaxed even when it gets stressful 😌

I've tried the Ichiran take-home packs and they use soup concentrate (not powder) so the soup base tastes pretty similar! Definitely a good option if you have a sudden craving for Ichiran 👍🏻 It would be hard to replicate the char siu though 😝

Ah, I remember eating at the underground Ichiran restaurant in March 2019. My parents had just flown in to Fukuoka on a Friday, and I happened to have had a stressful day at work, so the moment I got home, I packed my bag for a weekend trip and took the train straight from Nagasaki to meet them. We had supper at that very same restaurant. The next time you’re in the Hakata area, try checking out Ikkousha - my father really loves the ramen at its sister shops in Melbourne, Australia.

Sushi is my favorite, don't know it by name. Love all sorts of ramen we get here in Michigan. One thing I noticed in every video, you show a quick view of the arcades, I see pachislo machines. At one time I had over 150 of them, cleaned them up, repaired them and sold them. I have 8 personal favorites left and 2 pachinko. I would love to see some of them in play.

My favorite Japanese foods are the cheap ones like kitsune udon and yaki soba. Of course I like pretty much every thing - sushi, kaiseki, tsukemono, miso soup, tofu, even natto. My favorite restaurant in Fukuoka is one I only got taken to when the economy and expense accounts were healthy. It was a sushi restaurant where the fish were in ponds in the floor. They didn’t really kill the fish, just cut them up. Very tasty, but maybe some saki was necessary. I think that’s also where I had whale meat. If you’re going from Taiwan to Kyushu, it’s very handy to fly to Fukuoka. It don’t think very many foreigners do that, though. The immigration official seemed very surprised by the appearance of the giant gaijin. Normally I came to Fukuoka the day after flying to Tokyo. I think there was a clever Japanese plan to weaken foreigners with hospitality. After our flight from the US we would have a welcome dinner til about 11 PM. Then a very early morning flight from Haneda to Fukuoka. Then a big delicious Chinese lunch. Then we would sit in a very warm conference room and listen to Japanese for 2 hours. Then, just as we were starting to fall asleep, they would start asking question about our cost structure and business model and other things it was unwise to answer. If expense accounts were healthy, after the meeting it would be fancy sushi, and then a little bar with cognac.

Another wonderful video... My favorite Japanese food is Soba, any style of traditional Soba (hot or zaru). Sadly, here in the States, there's a big fad for Ramen, but not many places that serve Soba - even in San Francisco's Japantown. The two biggest Japanese things I miss are food and ofuro/onsen (they just aren't the same here in the US). Can't wait to return to Japan!
