Tasmania's Central Highlands are a stunning place to ride in the winter. 'Taking the Slow Track' is a short film shot on an overnight ride where there was little chance of seeing another person. It gave me a chance to slow down, ride, film, camp by a frozen lake and do some chilly hike-a-bike over a frozen water way. It was also a chance for me to test my gear for a longer upcoming trip to Peru.

Thankyou for taking the effort respecting your bike and drivetrain by not submerging your bike walking it through water crossings. Seen it way too often in other bike packing videos.

Always a pleasure...and the remarkable thing is that after crossing that frozen water barefoot, you had to go back and get the camera!!

I've been watching RU-vid edits/films/clips/nonsense for years and never have I before felt the need to subscribe to a channel. But I subscribed after watching this. Also, I've been thinking about selling my bikepacking bike. Not any more. I'm inspired to plan another trip and get out there, maybe filming it this time. Thank you.

Thanks heaps. For this film, I used my Panasonic GH5 and the Leica 10-25mm f1.7. Really like it, but it's a bit bigger than most people carry.

I use a Rode Video Mic NTG - a bit big but captures the sounds I want.
