Merry Christmas! This week I'm bringing you into the Foothills State Forest. It is located west of Pine River Minnesota. I arrived Saturday morning and had three peaceful days alone in the woods. It was an icy, wet, quiet weekend, perfect for my soul. I love the solitude that camping deep in the forest provides. Saturday, I went on a walk down a cross-county ski trail. I found shelter from the rain in a lean-to. As I sat listening to the rain drops fall into the metal roof, I was reminded how thankful I am for having the channel. Without the camera, I wouldn't have been alone in the woods on Christmas Eve finding shelter from the rain. It was peaceful and recharged my mind for another week at work. I decorated the camper with cards I received from viewers and opened gifts on Christmas morning. It was an awesome day to be alive.
I was able to celebrate Christmas with the family last week. This weekend my kids were with their mom, and Mandi had to work the holiday. Next week is New Years, and I'll be in the camper sharing the weekend with you again. I'm not sure where we are going but I hope there's a firepit wherever we end up. I have a Prime Rib that I'd like to smoke over the open fire. It's going to be delicious.
