Soloist: Sunmi (이선미) Reaction pt.1 - 24 hours, Full Moon, Gashina, Heroine MVs 

It's not Sunmi rapping in Full Moon. It's a featured artist named Lena Park.

Sunmi originally got her debut with the Wonder Girls under JYP Entertainment. After a few years with the group, she left to pursue college studies. After that, she returned as a soloist with 24 hours and Full Moon before rejoining the Wonder Girls when they switched to a band concept. After the Wonder Girls disbanded, she left JYP for her current company and re-debuted with Gashina. And yes, that fall in Heroine was... not scripted.

Sunmi is on a level that's all hers. Now you know why Yoohyeon fangirls so hard for her. She's taken the worst that the dark side of Kpop could throw at her and she's still standing. The collab with JYP is good and definitely worth watching.

She actually fell and they kept it. You know... "The show must go on".

So… imagine Sunmi hanging out with Chungha and then add Hani (EXID), YooA (Oh My Girl) *and then* put Chuu in the middle of it all and you have Running Girls. It’s impossible to not love them once you watch it 😅

Since Gashina, Sunmi has co-written all and co-composed most of her tracks, particularly with her collaborator Frants. She also has creative control over the MVs and (I think) finds and buys her outfits herself. Gashina, Heroine, and Siren form a trilogy. I think apart from that, each of her MVs is standalone. Based on Running Girls and her hosting of Showterview, she seems like an extremely nice person.

I love Sunmi so much, she's got this sexy yet quirky vibe that's so unique to her I love it so much. She originally debuted in the girl group/girl band Wonder Girls in 2007 but sadly they disbanded in 2016.

"Why are you getting on the table?!" Legitimate concerns with Sunmi, you just never know with her lol. Pporappippam, You Can't Sit With Us, and Heart Burn are my favorites. Can't wait for those!

Sunmi originally made her debut with wondergirls the same year as snsd so shes actually 2nd gen. 24 hours was her solo debut. Shes actually friends with seulgi from red velvet & chungha. Hope you get to see some of those moments in the variety videos later this week !

The rap in full moon is by another artist called Lena Park, it wasn’t sunmi who said that part Also for a bit of context here; basically she left wonder girls like literally for fee years; she had solo debut then; then took a break from solo work to return as part of wonder girls again then the group officially disbanded after two years & she returned as soloist officially this time. Back then to debut as a solo you either were a rapper or you debuted after your group disbanded or you left your group to do so which is what she did to debut as a solo and do what she wanted for a while before rejoining the group again for a little bit before they disbanded officially like I said Anyway she is great and I’m happy and excited for you to discover her

Just saying, there is Weekly Idol episode with Sunmi and Chungha. They act really cute together as fan of each other meeting for the first time (I think). They did a few other things together afterwards, including the TV show Running Girls (with other idols), and also were guests together on Amazing Saturday.

You have to see Sunmi playing the Bass instrument teaser trailer. A must to see.❤

Yaay, Sunmii! My favorite kpop soloist. She is a queen and her songs are my personal favorites music-wise. I just love how she is so herself, very creative and not afraid to experiment.

Gashina is that song 😍😍 I encourage you to check out a dance practice/stage performance/something. The choreo is great and it was EVERYWHERE when it came out. You can find a lot of fun videos of other idols doing the choreo too! And if you need a recommendation for what performance to watch, she did a performance of Gashina where she/her team switched the genders of the backup dancers. The girls are doing the parts the guys usually did and vice versa.

Yay, it's 'lgbt queen' (her words) Sunmi!! 24 Hours may be her solo debut, but she's been in the biz a good few years before this as a member of Wonder Girls. Then she took a hiatus and retuned as a soloist (THEN rejoined WG, but that's another story for another video😂). So if this seem quite..mature for a kpop debut, that's why. 24 Hours is considered one of the hardest dances in kpop (along with Taemin- Move) to nail and make look good. They look simple, but are deceptively tricky. Especially the chorus. You should watch PSY's cover at some point 😂 Gashina is just an absolute ironclad Moment in kpop at this point. That song was eeeevvverywhere at the time, with everyone doing the choreo challenge before tik tok was even a thing 😂. I loooove the MV too. Everything is Iconic. Can't wait to see your reaction to the other MVs 😈

Sunmi has been part of Wonder Girls (under JYP) since the beginning. Her debut solo single '24 hours' was released when she has been in the industry for quite a while, hence the quality of her MV. 'Full moon' was a single under JYP as well. Sunmi went on hiatus for a while to study, but she came back to promote for Wonder Girls when they rebranded as a band (she played the Bass.) After Wonder Girls stopped their promotion, she signed with another company and released 'Gashina', 'Heroine', and subsequent releases. She has mkre creative control over her songs from then on.

Sunmi actually badly injured her knee during that fall in heroine, they kept the shot in the mv, and her knee never fully recovered.

Fun fact about 24hr: It's the reason she left JYP. She didn't like the image that JYP was pushing onto her as a soloist and had her own plans for her soloist image.

(i accidentally deleted my whole comment rip. oh well) a "solo debut" feels different than a "debut" debut though doesnt it~ she'd already been an idol for a long time, in one of the biggest groups~ she left wondergirls after they opened for the jonas brothers i think? (and then joined back in after full moon. i dont know if its right to build expectations but i so badly wanna say that if you like an early sunmipop with some hypothetical girl idol rap youre gonna love getting to these albums...) btw a fun fact. the guy in full moon is actor yoon park. at that point he wouldnt have been at jype for more than a year? but hes quite popular too
