I am his granddaughter. I wish I could respond to all of you. Your comments are so sweet, he will definitely be missed. I loved when he sung for us. Rest in peace grandpa.
I am married to one of Solomon King's sons. It is so nice to hear these comments and know that people still enjoy his music. This is my husbands favourite song of his dad's.
This man IS ,one of my favourites,I play his songs daily, sing along, have negila,I am not Jewish, is a favourite,he should have been one of the greats, in my eyes he is,
I'm so happy to hear this beautiful voice and his awesome recordings, I'm 61 this year and I feel blessed to have grown up with this genre of music. R.I.P. Mr. Solomon King thank you for the music❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Dearie me, what a truly magnificent voice Solomon King had. He never really received the recognition he deserved. I love this version of the song and come back to it again and again just to hear his marvellous voice. MsG
This record was on the juke box of my local pub in 1968-69. I was 18 at the time and all the regulars were around the same age- up to their early 20s. Nobody over 25 ever went in the pub, yet this song was played constantly. When you consider the great music that was around at the time, this is testament to how truly great this song was.
Dad - Can't believe it's 11 years ago this very day you passed away, you are always with us in spirit and in our daily prayers - this is my favorite song You ever recorded! Miss and love you Dean, Diane and kids.
+Dean Levy I met your father back in 1978-79. He was friends with My uncle. He came to our house. What a voice. He did a small concert in our town and raised thousands for a local charity. He had one of the greatest voices I ever heard. We had some of his LP's. Ive tried to get any film footage or released CD's of your father but there are non available. I was very young at the time. I remember him telling us he did backing vocals for Elvis and Billie Holiday! He sang My Yiddeshe Mama in both English and Hebrew in our living room. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. RIP Solomon.
Oh Dear God , please take the current crop of so called singers and give us back dear Solomon King with his magnificent , powerful and emotional voice !
My husband and I cry to this together as after 43 years of marriage we are still so much in love. She wears my ring is our other love song. Thank you dear Solomon for giving us songs that are us.
What a magnificent voice - I defy any singer to match the vocal range that Solomon King possessed. Thanks very much for sharing "When We Were Young" - it is a treasure. Personally, I am a die-hard Jim Reeves fan, but I believe Jim would have taken his hat off to Solomon King had he lived long enough to hear him.
Very underrated singer, saw him live in the British Legion club in Guisborough in the 1970's I remember we where all overwhelmed by the range of his voice.
This is so beautiful to me This used to be played at our house And that's more than 45 years ago. My uncle has heard this for the first time in a cafe in Belgium and has the owner to sell it to him, and he took it out of his juxbox and gave it to my uncle. So my best regards from the Netherlands
I remember this song from my childhood. I was only about 6 when it was released. But it was probably the happiest time in my otherwise troubled childhood. Here I am now aged 51 and loving this like it was yesterday. Brilliant ,magical voice.
Nice to meet you Andrea. your grandpa had the most amazing voice ever. I love his songs and I admit I shed a tear when I hear them, God bless Solomon R.I P
This is so beautiful, i have this on a cassette only, this brings back memories, thanks so much for adding this classic from Solomon, simply beautiful.
omg! I did'nt know he sang this song. I heard Englebert Humperdinck's version, and always love it. But this, this is absalutely wonderful. THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!
Revisiting.....several times....powerful, beautiful....Stunning! RIP, Solomon KIng, gone too soon ....my deepest respect to his family members who posted below..thank you.....great talent....great gentleman! Song .... Written by Les Reed, OBE, FCL, aka The Silver Fox aka Mr Love...
I'm very pleased to congratulate you on your Father's WONDERFUL voice, when I was 22 and living in London I used to go to a cafe which had a juke box and "she wears my ring" was on it which I played for ever and ever until I left the place and every day for two years! I often wonder if the people in there ever got sick of it and was probably relieved when I eventually went home for good!! If I hear it now it takes me right back to that cafe and 1968. GLORIOUS VOICE.
I met Solomon King in the late 1970's, My late uncle was a Freind of his, he was staying in Manchester at the time and My uncle brought him to My home town to a charity night, He brought the place down with his Great voice, he stayed at our house for 2 nights, he could eat like a bear My Mum was rushed off her feet. He was a backing singer for both Billie Holiday and Elvis presley. A fantastic singer, sadly missed
Solomon, was without a doubt, One of the finest Singers in the World, For Sheer Power, Sheer Tone, and Range, He has left a Gap, That, No One has Ever Replaced.!!!! Can i ask you a Question ?????? Who has come along, with an Equel Voice, to Replace Him. ????? The Answer is NO ONE.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are Artist and Songs made for each other and this is a magnificent pairing. I cant thank Solomon for his gracious gift. Thankyou, i cant get enough of hearing it...
I was.13 yrs old when I heard this song way back 1970. This is the most powerful song song I ever heard and a real tear jerker of memories for a great song message.
that guy could sing fantastic voice ..tom Jones said and I quote his range was second to none ....he really was a class act ..I doubt if you will ever see the likes of him again
A beautiful voice. This evokes so many wonderful memories. Thank you Mr King. I didn't realise that he lived for 20 years in Manchester UK. Not many miles from where I was born and still live.
Listened to his other songs on the playlist and found them mediocre, but he has really excelled on this one, its as though the song was made for his voice. Can't imagine anyone singing this as well as he does, brilliant all the way.
Saludos
@hannah1184 I met Solomon Back in 1979, He was Living In Manchester and became friends of My uncle, He came to My home town and raised a lot of money for local charities. Truly what a fantastic voice and talent ! I remember him in my young boyhood and I was blown away by his powerful voice ! Truly not fully recognised in his time, and sad that his musical career did not continue after he had so many hits in his day !
