Vince doesn't have friends, longtime or otherwise - just people he currently wants to exploit or thinks he can exploit again in the future.

Friends isn't a thing Vince McMahon does. His vision was always to transform WWE from a family wrestling company into a reality TV entertainment corporation. Nick Khan fits that vision better than any of his family members. Vince will soon be gone and within ten years, the WWE will be gone as well. His legacy will be to be forgotten along with the company.

Dwayne Johnson doesn't have anywhere near enough money to _own_ WWE. The only possible buyers for WWE are in the Disney league of players, mega-corporations. He could be a future figurehead for the company, but he's never going to _own_ WWE or be an omnipotent majority stockholder like Vince McMahon. No single person is ever going to be in that position again, unless somebody in the Musk/Bezos/Gates sphere suddenly decides they want to play wrestling promoter, for whatever idiotic reason. Not unless Vince destroys his own creation, to the point that it's basically worthless, first. Well, the mlw thing sounds like a vince move. And we know Stephanie, HHH or anyone in creative don't do anything without Vince having the final say. If anything, that report seems to make her look like the fall guy, or fall girl in that situation.

I don’t think they want to. Despite the political shit there, they might just want to take their money and just not work again. With their combined assets, they no longer have to worry about money for themselves or their kids ever again if they choose.

Money is the easy part of starting a wrestling company. The tough thing to do is to get a Television contract on a widely watched channel or network. The only reason AEW was able to take off was that the family was able to leverage themselves on a major cable network through their other businesses. Anyone else that starts a wrestling business is going to end up being just another TNA or Ring of Honor.

Its not directly about money. Its about positioning the company for a sale. What a company like Comcast or Disney will want is something that looks like an entertainment company with entertainment industry guys. The more it looks like a family wrestling business, the lower the price its sold for will be. And keeping expenses down is another thing that will make the sale price better. If Disney or Comcast buy the WWE, it will be gone within ten years. They will not understand the business or be able to run it properly. The same things that happened to WCW when it was owned by Turner Broadcasting will happen to WWE inside a giant company.
