I just wanted you to know, my floors turned out beautiful with all your advice. I followed step by step and wow! I used waterbased Varathane Satin, nice product!

I used Solvable on a dining room table and it works well removing the stain down to almost bare wood. Will sand off the remainder - only about 5% of the stain wouldn’t come off, so did a good job for me

I’m glad it worked for you…unfortunately it did nothing to remove the finish on that particular floor for us🙁

Where do you get this Heirloom stuff ? HomeDepot and Rona no longer sell it. It is probably banned now. It is still on the websites but says no longer available.
@HardwoodFloorRefinishing101
It may be discontinued at Home Depot & Lowes. You can get a similar product "Circa 1850 Heavy Body Paint & Varnish Remover" from Rona

@@HardwoodFloorRefinishing101 I will go tomorrow and check. We have Home Depot, Lowes and Rona. I had the Circa 1850 , I just used the last of a little can , and I think it has Methyl Chloride. It might be banned now, I don't know. I will do a little research. I think it was banned in the US.

Apparently it is not banned yet but wear a respirator. It causes cancer. Methylene Chloride. Online said this "This May, Lowe’s (owner of RONA) was the first retailer to take action with a commitment to remove these products from their stores by January 2019. Since then, a flurry of similar commitments from ten major retailers across North America including Home Depot, Walmart, Canadian Tire, Dulux Paints and Home Hardware were made. Public concern around toxic paint strippers also accelerated the development of a non-toxic and equally effective alternative chemical that’ll be brought into market in early 2019." So I will have to try another product, maybe EZ striper.

I just bought some of the solvable stuff at home depot. The worker at the paint desk told me that HD discontinued the more powerful stripper because "people were abusing it". I didn't ask what he meant, but my guess would be huffing to get high.

$20? It's now over $30 at Canadian Tire. I used it on car parts, worked great for that after a few tries. Cheap paint though.
