Solve the Epson CD tray ejection problem

Most Epson printers for CD/DVD printing will encounter this problem when they get old. When one of the optical sensors accumulates enough dirt, the printer will reject the CD tray and kick it out every time when it is pushed in. This video shows you an easy fix on how to find the sensor and how to blow away the dirt to make the printer work again.

Many many thanks for your challenging your printer situation and coming up with a solution.I spent over 2 hours with Epson and they couldn't solve the problem and I wound up ordering another printer, but like you Decided to look into what you had done, and low and behold the sensors were somehow blocked.I used my vacuum in reverse and blew air over the sensors and today I'm able torrent my DVD labels,so again many thanks

I am glad that it worked out for you. I was actually wrong to call that a sensor. It turns out that's only a switch and not an optical sensor. I guess it gets stuck by dirt over time and by blowing the dirt away it will function again. Some people also had successful stories by dipping some alcohol or WD-40 to lubricate it.

Thank you very much, yours is the only right solution I have found in the internet for this problem. I used a vacuum cleaner that has a blow port in the opposite side.

This guy is hilarious 😆 I don’t have this printer but watched anyway. I have the ET-7750 and I can’t figure out where the CD tray is stored. I think my printer is missing the tray so I bought a new one on eBay (printer was used). The tray fits into the input but there seems to be no spot to put it under the printer. It does fit on the table under the printer so I’ll just keep it there. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thank you Solved my tray problem, I didnt had the spray so used a soft fiber cloth instead and it worked.

I have an L800 and had this same problem. I used a straw and blew air through it along the entire tray opening. After I did it, it seemed to work. Looking for a permanent fix still.

Mesmo fazendo todas essas etapas não resolveu. Havia outra coisa, outro problema. Na bandeja há símbolos brancos, e caso aquele, que parece um ‘4’, esteja sujo, a impressora ejeta a bandeja. Precisa estar bem branco. Even doing all these steps did not resolve. There was something else, another problem. There are white symbols on the tray, and if the one, which looks like a ‘4’, is dirty, the printer ejects the tray. It needs to be very white.

Hi i have a Epson PX730WD the CD/DVD function when i try to print the disc gets stuck and jammed any ideas what maybe causing it, not been used much but not sure what's causing it...any ideas

Yes. It's the Sensor Problem. But, in many cases, It's NOT from dirt.

Try to spray some WD40 or use a cotton swab dipped with alcohol to clean the switch.

I don't know much about printers, but my CD tray light will not go off, therefore, making it hard for me to print... Well, making it to where I can't print AT ALL!!!

What's the model of your printer and are the lights flashing or staying on? Two problems can render the light situation. 1) You ink cartridge has bad contact, 2.) You have made to many prints (CD and paper all together) and the internal counter has reached the limited. For the second problem you will need a software to reset the waste pad counter. If your model is Artisan 50 you can download the reset program from Epson. Otherwise you'll need to search one on Google.

New Cyberian - CD Duplication of San Jose It's an Epson Artisan 837. The CD tray light is on (green). But that's stopping me from printing, although I know my ink levels are very low.

Sorry we don't use this model so you probably have to call the Epson support line.
