We found 59-year-old Margaret "Jan" Shupe Smith in her Green 2012 Kia Soul just 18" below the water's surface in a newly developed subdivision retention pond, solving a 10-month-old missing person case in Lakeland, Florida from April 02, 2021.
This documentary brings you alongside Adventures With Purpose's search on February 1st and 2nd, 2022, following clues from a family friend, and the Polk County Sheriff's Office about Jan's last known location who was last seen on April 02, 2021, in Lakeland, Florida, leading to the discovery of where Jan and her car had gone missing 10 -months earlier.

CASE DETAILS
We began our search on February 1st, 2022, being assisted by Jeremy Sides from Exploring with Nug, and Brittian Lockhart from Depths of History starting our day at 9:00.
The first location searched was a pond south of Shepherd Road working from license plate reader information keeping Jan close to her home with no success.
We then moved our search north to a few boat ramps around the Southgate Publix Shopping Complex where Jan was last seen shopping on CCTV, leaving behind her wallet and stimulus money.
Moving back south on Florida Ave we searched Chrystal Lake where we found 2 pickup trucks 10' underwater, 45' from shore, but they were not our target vehicle in question.
Reporting to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Deputies on-scene shared new clues in the case about Jan being involved in an accident the evening of April 2nd approximately 30 minutes after leaving the Southgate Publix when she was last seen on CCTV video.
Working with the last known sighting at the accident location of Malcum and Socrum Loop Road, Jared identified a new subdivision to the North with newly dug retention ponds.
Confirming with local homeowners that residents began moving in after July 2021, AWP chose to sonar the pond to the north of Victoria Road.
A vehicle was located in 6 1/2 feet of water, 50' from shore.
No diving gear was required for Josh Cantu to put on a mask, and freedive the vehicle confirming a 2012 Moss Green Kia Soul with Florida license plate JLQA90.
With a Deputy of the Polk County Sheriff Dive Team already en route at 10:10 AM to return gear leftover at Chrystal Lake from the evening before, the Deputy was the reporting party to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Over the next several hours, additional Polk County Sheriff Dive Deputies, Investigators, Forensics, etc. arrived on the scene, and at approximately 1:10 PM, through the efforts of all organizations working together, the vehicle in question was removed, confirming human remains inside.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jan's family during this difficult time.

God, that is absolutely heartbreaking to hear that she was in the early stages of dementia. My mom started showing signs of something being wrong around 4 years ago. Within months, she was much further gone than anyone knew. Our family isn't very close in "normal" family terms, so no one knew she had declined so quickly. We only found out when she was getting evicted because she'd failed to pay rent for 3 months. I hope Jan inspires people to check in on their older loved ones--regardless of how close they are to them. People with dementia, especially early on, can be combative about their independence. I'd be willing to bet Jan was adamant that she was still capable of driving before this tragedy.

Yes, you are so correct. One of my best friends, lead in singing Amazing Grace at my husbands funeral. I did not know she was having issues and had seen her several times recently. Within 6 months she was barely verbal. That was 7 years ago. She is almost a vegetable now. She was in her 60s at that time.

Yeah, I remember when they were doing water clean-up and found the first vehicle. Now, they have started a movement. Twenty for them. At least 9, I think for the rest of them. They have a way to go to catch the 100+ for Team Watters.

You guys have made me question & change my early morning drive to work. In the Spring, Summer and Fall, I used to drive down a super steep hill that has no guard rails into a curvey swampy area also with no guard rails. It is too dangerous of a hill to go up or down in Wisconsin winters. I no longer drive this route in the early early mornings. 5 am in the dark when no one would see you accidentally go in. It adds a few minutes to my drive but it is worth it to not take that chance.

My aunt committed suicide by driving down a boat ramp into a deep canal, leaving behind her young children and husband. We will never know what her last minutes were like or what exactly caused her to make that decision, but the road to closure was paved by a brave dive team like you. Thank you for your work.

My heart goes out to your aunt and to your entire family. I know that as someone who has suffered from Major Depressive Disorder for over a decade, it can be so difficult. While I am not saying that this is what your aunt had, I will say that most people that I meet and interact with daily, unless they are in my small inner circle, never would guess that I suffer from any such disorder because I am bubbly, outgoing, friendly, and personable. It is not until I disclose such information that people ever learn that I am struggling. I hope that you and your family were all able to find peace with the horrible incident, and I truly hope that your aunt has found peace, wherever she may be.

I can only imagine how the residents felt after learning there was a missing woman in the detention pond just meters behind their houses. And only 18 inches below the surface at that. I'm glad that she was found.

One thing that wasn't brought up is that the lake level looks to have been up quite a bit higher based off of the vegetation on the shoreline. Still it would be heartbreaking knowing someone's life was lost feet from your home.

A similar thing happened on the east coast of Florida in 2019. Someone accidentally spotted a car in a pond on google maps that had been there for about 25 years, as the surrounding neighborhood was being built. In all that time no one who lived next to the pond noticed

@@huskerjeep I was wondering about that, too. Florida receives decent rainfall, but the heat also creates a lot of evaporation. If this is the lowest the pond has been, I wonder if they hadn't found her, if the car would eventually pop through during a dry spell.

I work in nursing with dementia patients. They actually see water differently than someone without dementia. This is a tragic tragic accident. Y’all are absolutely beautiful souls and the work you do is so wonderful.

Some think it’s a hole and others are just afraid of it being something they don’t recognize. Nursing homes used to use black or shiny paint on floors to keep patients from going into certain areas as well.

My mum had Dementia and most people really don't understand how it affects a person. This poor lady. She clearly was having a very confused day - leaving her purse, having a car accident and then getting lost and driving her car into that pond. People with Dementia get lost because they don't recognise where they are - sometimes even when they're in their own home. So they continue to walk or get on buses or drive in the hope that they'll recognise somewhere. Some of them will walk or drive for many hours - not realising they will never find a place they recognise. Dementia is the worst. 💔😭.

Please let them know if they don't see my comment. This video has an important lesson for you guys when finding people. You have to remember that the google map you use is outdated and in some areas it can be VERY outdated. The map around me is so outdated that it shows my old car in the driveway from at least 6 years ago. I don't even live in a secluded area too. This case that you solved almost didn't get solved if you had relied on the map, which stumped you when you were already on your last day too. I also want to say that I believe the Tammy Goff case that you guys solved had the same problem. You guys and her husband were looking at boat ramps/access points that were on the google map. Tammy used a boat ramp that was recently built so it was not visible on the map for any of you guys yet. I also believe that Tammy probably noticed that new boat ramp being made which was around the time she told her friend she knew a spot that "no one would find her". So I'm not sure how to get around this problem since there is no more up to date map that I know of, but I definitely think driving around the area looking for relatively new construction or asking locals/local law enforcement about any new construction near water may help. Another last point is that a couple of the cases you guys tried were solved with the person being found on land, in the woods. I know you guys have a drone, but I don't know the range. That might be a way for you guys to expand in the future though if you can do drone flyovers on wooded areas nearby along with checking water. Hope you guys get to see this, I think it can make a difference if you do.

@@nk361 they're aware of those things. They take as much of that info into account as they can. They don't always have all the info. That is why they're getting more involved with Mike King to assist them in getting more info and more of a backstory. These guys are experienced. Nobody else, not even law enforcement finds people as fast as they do. And as for the searches where people are found other than the water, it is because they're not given all the info, or people do not cooperate (LE). They WILL NOT be expanding to looking for people in wooded areas etc. That is NOT their specialty or purpose. They are not intentionally looking for homicide victims either. They have their safety and their families safety to consider. They've already promised their families they would not go deep into shady cases. They ARE water search and rescue. PERIOD. Anybody can search the land with a drone. Not everybody dives. It takes a special kinda person to do that. Please just appreciate that they SPECIALIZE. They're not out running around willy nilly looking for everybody. They CAN'T. These guys know what they're doing and they DO understand Google Earth is OLD PICS. Even I KNOW THAT. How much more so would THEY know that? And by the way, there IS Google Earth Pro. Which is how they're able to go back in time and look at things over years to see the changes. Believe me. They get it. But I'm sure you didn't know about Pro? This case almost didn't get solved because they didn't have all the info. Til LE gave them more info and led them in another direction. It had nothing to do with Google Earth.

Unfortunately some people can completely break under that kind of grief. I'd like to think I wouldn't stop searching either, but I know at some point I'd buckle under the pressure of my loss. Keeping an eye or an ear out would be easy but some people lose themselves actively searching for that long Edit to add: because of this, I have the utmost respect for people like this man who can shoulder the pain of everyone they help to find their loved ones. I couldn't even imagine being strong enough to do this

One of my grandmother’s was 87 yrs old when “the car talk” started some normal age senile signs were obvious to us-she knew it-, however she was a very stubborn lady. She got lost twice (she started driving at 9yrs old) and had a clean drivers record. The conversation your family is having with your Dad is very painful and he will be mad at you guys for a while but, the best for ALL of us is to get off the roads when we reached certain age. My grandmother was able to live to see her great-grandchildren and they were able to meet her. She left us at 104 yrs old, after her husband of more than 70 yrs died of natural causes as she did too. It will get better.

If you do let your dad drive, don't let him drive alone. My grandma was mad at us for not letting her drive, but she wasn't fully aware of how much her dementia affected her. She nearly went onto the highway once because she "parked" in a parking lot but didn't actually put the car in park, so it slowly rolled down the hill while she napped inside. If the ditch had been wider, she probably would have gone onto the road. That's when we took the keys away, no matter how she screamed about it.

My mom had dementia and lived with me the last 3 years of her life The one thing I learned and repeated to myself daily was you cannot reason with dementia. Be patient, kind and just listen. Replace the instinct to correct with an instinct to bring comfort when there is confusion. Prayers for your dad and family.

My heart goes out to you, & the journey you will walk when caring for a loved one with dementia! My Mother had dementia & I took care of her the last 4 yrs of her life. You will find days of joy & blessings but, you will also have days of heartaches & heartbreaks. But all in all, I wouldn't change a thing in all that I shared with my Mom in her final years/days. Being the youngest of 6 children the hardest part for me was when my Mom couldn't remember my name! My Mom passed away 4 yrs ago this month on Aug. 17th, & I gave the eulogy for her service which was 1 of the hardest things I've ever done on 1 of the hardest days of my life but I wanted those in attendance to hear about the person my Mom was before the dementia robbed her from me! The 1st memory I had of my Mom was her teaching me, as a little girl of 3/4 yrs old, how to pray, & as far as I'm concerned that was the best & sweetest memory I could've ever had! And taking her keys awsy from her so she could no longer sneak & drive was a hard & difficult day but necessary for her safety as well as the communities safety because the last day she ever drove she wrecked her car, & to this day my family still has no idea what she hit! And it was a neighbor of hers that alerted me that she had seen my Mom leave in her car leaving her walker in tge driveway. And I was the one who found her at her Dr 's office because she thought she had an appt. that day. Needless to say, it was also the last day she was allowed to continue living in her home or by herself! My Mom could be a stubborn woman & had fought long, & hard to stay living in her home on her on. But sadly those difficult decisions have to be nade to keep a loved one safe, & some times others as well. And to Adventures with purpose... I'm a new subscriber, & SO happy RU-vid recommended your videos to me!!! You're angels on this Earth! I've shared the video on how to get out of a vehicle if it goes into a body of water with every person I love!!! I can't spread the news about your channel & videos fast enough! Her twin, my aunt, was a wonderful person with a huge heart and the 2 of them together shared a bond like no other so I was very honored my mom identified me as her twin sister she long cherished. Dementia does steal our loved ones away before they leave this world and it's so much more than forgetfulness as most believe. But I don't think it's a journey you can explain to someone unless they have experienced it. I read your reply and I completely identify with it.

I'm so glad you found Jan, thank you guys. I drove at night and almost drove right into a body of water, it looked like part of the road and the water was smooth as glass, with no movement. Once I realized it was water, I was able to stop in the nick of time. What a very scary and sad way to die. My heart goes out to Jan's family and friends. Thank you, to all involved in finding Jan.

I was about 10ft from driving off of a cliff when I was a teenager. Something made me slam on the breaks and we slid a couple of feet on the gravel. We didn’t even know it was a cliff until we got out and looked. At night it just looked like the peak of a hill. No markers or warnings. I wasn’t driving crazy or anything because I didn’t know the road. We were just driving around enjoying the weather.

We had a case here in Mass, the woman had been missing, a swimmer found the car seven years later, she visiting from California. Apparently had left to return home on a snowy night, The car had to of travel between two houses, apparently the snow continued and covered the tracks, the body was in bad shape, they blown up like a ballon. It was very traumatic, for the people who saw it.

I almost cried after watching this video. It is so sad that Margaret "Jan" Shupe Smith ended up dying in the lake with a medical condition and she was confused and didn't know where was she going on that night. I am glad that her family can finally move forward in life knowing that she's in a better place now. Well done you guys for helping families find answers to where their loved one was last seen before going missing and finding their remains.

Maybe getting interviewed by police at the accident is where she realized her wallet was missing? It could also make for a tense interaction with the police and/or the other driver. And it's making her late for picking up her daughter. Stress piled on stress.

Most headrests can be removed and have a point on them to use to smash the outer corner of a window to escape. First thing to do is remove your seatbelt and get out by lowering or smashing the window. Follow the bubbles upward as you should swim upwards. It's easy to become disoriented. 😊

@@flowergirlabc123 easier said than done. When installing new seat covers in my car the only way I could remove the driver and front passenger head rests was being positioned in the back seat, actively holding down two buttons at the same time and then it would release. Not emergency friendly.

My great grandfather was lost 3 hrs away & luckily someone noticed him. He was sitting in his car, on the roadside, crying. Whoever the kind stranger was who alerted us, saved my grandfather from something horribly tragic like this happening. He left for church and in the fog of dementia needed up that far away. imagine the panic of being lost in a dirt road at night not seeing a hidden pond just under road my only hope is the impact killed her instantly because drowning in a car like that in anyway or form is just pure terror. @Mr Drake accidental more than likely due to her being in dementia state at that moment.. She was also just in a car accident just before.. My guess mixing her state of mind while being lost on a dark dirt road thats leading up to the pond and was just not able to see it in time.. because my guess is the road level and the pond level are not quite even and you wouldn't have seen it till it was too late.

It's honestly amazing seeing the police start taking these guys seriously and accepting that they're an incredible resource when it comes to not only locating these missing persons, but bringing closure to the families and the communities affected. It annoys me a lot seeing the police that do give them hassle, so seeing officers who are not only willing to help but will go out of their way to help them access information they'd otherwise never know is incredible. I saw a story on RU-vid not too long ago about a man found in a small lake, he was found by someone using google earth, his vehicle was close to the shore and not too far under water, seems like it would’ve been easy to see but he sat there for a few years! Until I started watching AWP’s videos I would’ve never even thought to look for missing people in bodies of water! Modern technology is becoming really helpful in ways we never would’ve imagined!

@@markkirk2129 I use towtruck drivers as a resource. I had a vehicle stuck in park. It was an AWD issue. I had to rent a car for 6 weeks because my dealer and mechanics had no clue. I called a tow truck. The tow truck driver knew all the quirks related to my vehicle.

Damn near every body of water of size here pretty much guaranteed to have a gator or gators in it somewhere. (Ok not all but more than enough!) Add to that the fact that pond, lake, river etc water is usually basically impossible to see through, it takes serious guts to get in there! As a native Floridian I give them the utmost respect that they’re willing to do this to answer the questions that come with a missing person case. Bless their hearts. ❤️

Made my diving licence in Floridas freshwaters some 20 years ago. For whatever reason i gave it no thought until the third dive and i asked my instructor if there would be any gators in this area. He just laughed and said, that there are gators in almost every freshwater body in Florida. And that they would be more afraid of me than the other way round. I was not totally convinced that day ;-)

Just looking at it I would say it is too small to hide a car. The water must always be dark and murky for some reason. If it cleared up even a little bit a car would be easy to spot.

Last seen driving erratically leaving Walmart.There’s the great Miami river that divides Hamilton east and west side, and a few apartment ponds near by. Search was done last week actually. As soon as the newsreporter said her family said she had pre-dementia her location made absolute sense. Jared has said several times, and we have seen it several times in past cases, that dementia sufferers usually go straight forward and don't turn around

I've participated in cold case investigations, a couple of them still haunt me even though it's been 35+ years. Every time your team closes a file, it brightens my day and reminds me there are still good people willing to sacrifice everything to give a voice to the missing and peace to their loved ones.. I can’t imagine how you guys feel at every scene. And then you have horrible people from cnn with you. I just can’t imagine. You guys are doing amazing work and helping so many people. Was it you guys that once found something and when the police showed up, they yelled at you for calling them saying that you were wasting their time? I think those police need to start doing their job better. You're doing the community and families a great service!

Could’ve been the 17-year old boy, Allen I think. The sheriff was making all kinds of excuses saying he’s probably not even in the car. Being rude to the family that had been begging for their help for months. (It took AWP less than 2 hours to find his vehicle). Makes sense though, the fire department reported 5 or 6 other vehicles in that same lake. I guess they need a new sheriff, one that cares about its community and natural resources. I mean, families first but let’s also keep our lakes, ponds and rivers from toxic garbage whenever we get the opportunity. IMHO seems like a win win and worth spending resources on. Or it could’ve been one of the magnet fishers, they found some old mines under an old railroad bridge. Search magnet fishers and the thumbnail is a red headed police officer woman - “was so mad at what we found” . She was mad because every time these guys find a gun, or grenade, or landmine, or safe with personal information they are obligated to call law enforcement and report it. In one case Ive seen they helped add evidence to an existing case but 90% of the time the weapon is so destroyed by the water they can’t get serial numbers. So, yes I agree it’s IMPERATIVE they call law enforcement, but this one officer pointed out the “bomb squad has better things to do”. I will say 99.9% of the officers are anywhere from “hey that’s cool” to “all right we just have to take it and go”. None of them were as grumpy as the red headed officer in that vid. Incredible, thank you. In the first few minutes of watching, I thought if these guys can do this, why can't the police? Now I've watched the whole thing, I can see why police couldn't do this - this kind of dogged determination to search every single possible place would cost an absolute fortune. My heart goes out to this lady and all her loved ones, it's so sad. Dementia is a terrible thing. God bless 💔

Polk county has the best Sheriff department. My love and support goes out to yo for what you do. The new opening with photos of all the missing loved ones AWP has found is respectful. I always get choked up when you locate someone. Great editing. I become prouder of the team with each new video that comes out. You guys radiate hope in everything you do! Glad Jan was found and can come home and her friends and family can begin the healing process. There’s always hope. Doug and Jared, do guys know what a difference you’ve made in many lives?

100 % agree with you. I've watched AWP for going on 2 years now. I didn't know 🍯 Jared and Doug would become the go to guys but I knew Jared had started a whirlwind tour. I'm so glad these two are the top two that help others bring lost ones home. Jeremy is supported by the way he just doesn't give up either.

I'm glad you guys are doing this service. My father had some type of forgetting, he was at his winter home in Sarasota Florida and one night found clear across Florida on east side in middle of interstate stopped. We got the phone call in middle of the night in Illinois. Traveled down next day to rescue him. It's horrifying to think what could have happened, I believe in your efforts and appreciate what you do.

Man, this one brought tears to my eyes. That poor woman. Bless you guys for finding her! I live in Missouri, where currently there are over 600 missing persons cases. We have soo many bodies of water in my state. It really makes me wonder if any of these individuals are somewhere in the water, not yet found. It breaks my heart. I lost both of my parents growing up and I have the answers to when and where. I can't imagine not knowing where my loved ones are. You guys are doing a wonderful service! ❤️

This is why it is vitally important to have a window breaker accessible inside the car. If your car ends up in deep water, you have about 10 seconds to get out before the water pressure makes it impossible. In the days before electric windows the technique was to open a window by a few inches, allow the car to fill until the pressure equalises enough to open the door, swim to surface. Electric windows won't allow this so you need to break a window, this means things will happen more quickly but the technique is the same. People usually drown because they panic and are unable to get the door open. It is another reason why fully electrical locks, with no easy manual override are not a great idea.

The Polk County Sheriff is absolutely awesome. I watch his RU-vid press conferences all the time and I'm 3 states away from Florida :). I actually found their videos before AWP. I would go so far to say the Sheriff there is the prime example of what a Sheriff should be. The man actually cares about his community.

I used to work at a gas stations, the list of things people would leave behind and never come back for is crazy. Everything was eligble for abandonment, this includes but is not limited to, credit cards, license, keys, wallets, every bit of jewlery, cars, shoes, clothing, teeth, and kids. Good job with finding her and all the other people youve recovered!

Sad to say that this was probably just a tragic end to a very stressful day. Maybe only a few hours. I really doubt she committed suicide. It actually reminded me of a something that happened to me many years ago. I had a relationship end that day and a few other mishaps to boot. I got so emotional about it that I actually got lost while driving wherever. No idea where north, south, east or west was. I had to ask at a gas station where I was was. Anyway, I ended up aimlessly driving through cottage country. It was pretty dark and I was driving too fast in my 5.0 Mustang and being only 21, wasn't thinking very rationally. I remember running a stop sign. It was a small gravel road and immediately after I went through intersection, I saw a sign that said "Rough Road Ahead". Good thing reality kicked in. I slowed down right away but, still managed to get my car into the water, right up to my windshield. That "rough road" was a boat launch, into a very deep lake. No one would have had any clue where to look as I was over 4 hours away from home. Mind you, Jared would have probably been able to do it. Kudo's to everyone involved but, I really do think Jared is now "The Water Whisperer" to me. Been watching AWP, then Chaos and the list has now grown and really believe you all have hearts made of gold and balls that belong in cannons. Cheers and bring them all home!

Sadly as a former EMT who was on many accidents, there are a lot more incidents like this than you think. Not just into water but, getting lost in your own thoughts and suddenly, boom the car hits a patch of ice and you have no control of the car. Or you completely miss the stop sign/red light and you blow through the intersection and T-bone someone. Especially if you are stressed out and driving a route you have made 100s of times. Most accidents happen within 5 miles of your house because that’s when we feel most safe and our brains will simply check out because we don’t need to pay attention. When people go missing out of the blue it’s definitely a good idea for families to check out any bodies of water within 10 miles of their last location. It’s a lot more common than people realize. So happy you got out of that situation safely, that sounds absolutely terrifying. I’m glad you shared that story so others know they aren’t stupid or alone if they had a similar situation they got out of but feel too embarrassed to speak on it. You would think it would be super uncommon for this to happen but it is the opposite actually. It can happen to literally anyone and it’s important we make people aware of it in hopes of preventing it.

@Brett Anthony By 21 my son had a new Harley Street Bob and Dodge Ram 4x4. Now at 30 he’s been in the oilfield for 12 years, owns his own home, owns a 2 year old Dodge Ram 4x4, and his wife drives a new Jeep. I didn’t pay for a bit of it, but hard work did!

And I can’t imagine what the community is thinking especially the neighbors closest to the pond…to think that there was not only a car but the body of a missing person right there in their pond …right next to them where they live and probably where their children play. I’d feel eerie and freaked out. You guys were relentless and persistent and your motivation and selflessness found that woman and brought closure to her case and her family. She may of had a small stroke....leaving her wallet, a small wreck.....she could've become confused or something. My father in law did this and thank GOD I had a location app for all the family and was able to locate him. He was stuck on a severely remote road....had walked 2 miles with his cell into the local forest. It can happen. Put the app on everyone you love.

Yeah, it's always good to see the local lawmen working WITH the guys, instead of AGAINST them. I'll never forget how ignorant these other cops were in a case where a young man who had been thought to be suicidal, his mother contacted these great men to help her out because she just couldn't believe he went out that way, and these pros found him within less than an hour I believe??? & in the area of a stones throw from the boat landing thing nearby! I mean it was RIGHT THERE! The police had supposedly SAID they thoroughly searched there more than once, and how they tried passing it off as "he ran away with his girlfriend" or some nonsense despite the family talking to the gf (if I'm remembering correct). But what wss MOST offensive and memorable, was how they purposefully attempted to completely reject the reality of THE correct van being where the guys had found it, despite them SHOWING THE LISENCE PLATE TO THE COPS! They questioned them as if they had somehow... found or manufactured it themselves & brought it to the scene!!! And on top of that, they dug so far up their rear ends for an excuse about some boulder/big ol rock that was apparently placed at the public park/boating area for decoration by the city, how it would cost too much money to move it, because it was "in the way" of their tow trucks to come down and try to get the van out, when they didn't know if he was actually in there or not - despite our guys here literally telling them they had just saw it with their own eyes, they removed the plates themselves, it was literally RIGHT THERE! I mean, you think it they tried it. It was despicable. I couldn't believe it and i hope they caught hell from their higher ups and from the entire town after these saints here posted the video to their channel! So yeah it's nice to see them all working together lol. I can maybe understand a jurisdiction being hesitant and denying these guys any assistance or closing them off from the scene or something because of maybe safety concerns, or the idea of their townsfolk seeing these guys come in and doing what they do and the townspeople suddenly think they can just jump into every body of water and pull out cars or something ya know, but to be so rude and unprofessional and classless.... that's just totally unnecessary. If you're mad someone else did your job better than you, then that seems like a problem you'd only be able to have with yourself and no one else.

I've watched you guys for sev yrs now, and had previously watched this episode, too, some time ago. What I gathered this time---and having had watched Doug and Jared in numerous other episodes---is that both of you are geniuses in your individual ways and styles. Another important note about this that wasn't mentioned. Covid, and lockdows in general was a very dark time, and the suicide rates did increase during these times. IT's really sad how many people end their lives and go unfound forever. You guys are doing really great work, not only for the families, but for the community as a whole

In my culture we call these lost ones Grass Dancers🙏🏽🌱🌿🌱🍃 🙏🏽and when we go to where they passed and pray Creator and the Star people come and take these lost ones to where they aught to be! Have you driven a piece of flat top at night and something distracts You? You sigh in relief when there is nothing there but you are sure you had seen something! We believe that a grass dancer is warning you to either wake up or say a prayer to Creator God- Wakan Tanka bc someone has just passed and requires a prayer!

Polk County Sheriff's Department always stands out as an exemplary team and set the bar high for other departments in which to strive. In March 2016, I reported my brother, Chip Campbell, from Santa Rosa County, Fl. He remains missing to this day.

This case reminds me somewhat of Nadine Moses. Went the wrong way, possibly spacing out while driving, then trying to turn around somewhere unusual at night with poor vision. I'm so glad both Sheriffs and dive team were able to find Jan. Poor lady, she really did have a rough time for the last little bit of her life.
