As someone who knew Tod, I can’t thank you enough for your care and compassion in bringing him home. He was a good man and a friend to all, and people in our town will always remember him. He was one of a kind! Thanks to you, his family, especially his little girl, won’t have to wonder what happened. Thank you and God bless you for all you do.
My brother drowned when he was 24. I appreciate how much respect you gave this gentleman. You covered the window during recovery and the car once it was on the wrecker. You never referred to him as the body. You called him by name. It means a lot when you show compassion for our loved one. Thank you.
so sorry for your loss. these guys do more work than the police! they are incredibly professional. always calling the person by him/her or the remains.
@@ArKritz84 the fact that you had to go in the video and search for the amount of times they said “body” just shows how negative you are. please find something else to do with yourself :)
@@ArKritz84@ArKritz84 they are talking about the general process of recovery and the preserving of evidence there, not the person in case specifically. Don't quote out of context.
Tod was the best… I was so relieved that you found him, I would’ve never stopped looking for him. When I searched for him, that was actually the first spot I went…. That exact spot. When I saw the news photo my heart dropped… Thank you for adding the nice song, you guys recovered one of my favorite people on earth. & thanks for adding my news interview at the end… he was the fuckin best….. I could write a book about Tod.
Tod and my dad were best friends all my life I grew up with him as my uncle he was my best friend as well, we would always go to his shop to spend time with him and his daughter I always wanted to be like him I looked up to him I wanted to be just like him so happy and kind so much love for others. my heart shattered when I heard he was missing but at least he is at peace now. Rip Tod you were the most amazing person I’ve ever met I love and will forever miss you. ❤
The fact that you only found him a few weeks after he'd gone missing, on a pure stroke of luck because you were searching that area... Had to have been hard, but surely brought closure to the family.
The reverence shown when recovering someone who has passed is what always strikes me to the core. I worked EMS and have done water recovery. It isn't easy to handle this with the dignity you show to the family and friends and to the person who has passed. Please never stop.
I love when you see the police being kind, helpful and cooperative with the team. It's disheartening when you see some police have a alpha mentality and are downright rude. Well done team. Rip Tod
Yea, especially when it's just people trying to help. I do understand they're used to having to butt heads with people but you gotta know when to calm down too.
Agree. When the plan to remove the body went south, they allowed the team to rig the vehicle for extraction, without letting their ego dictate that it had to them doing the work.
The thing that brought the most tears to my eyes was the respect they showed for the deceased while extracting the car. Every 2 feet they were reinforcing the tarp, and whatever they couldnt cover they blurred out. I wish every vessel could be protected in such a dignified manner and i know Tod is grateful for the respect you showed him. Well done, AWP and Chaos Divers. RIP Tod, may your family, especially your little girl when she is older, have the closure they need
We need to have national check your rivers and ponds day every year, this is so crazy. I’ve been watching for well over a year and I’m still astonished by how many people are underwater and how easily they disappear without anyone seeing it happen
Yearly is definitely better than nothing but each county/state that has their own dive team should allocate monthly or even weekly to be doing just that at different ponds/rivers etc. There's no need for cars to be hidden for a year + under water.
As someone who knew Tod, he was just full of joy and laughter. He was a friend to all and I was so happy that you found him. Thank you for all you do. You are helping so many people.
I never comment on videos, but I had to pause this to say that I cannot imagine how difficult it is for these divers to witness what they do during these recoveries. Such a selfless act to bring peace to families that are missing their loved ones. Thank you for all you do, and may God bring you comfort as well.
I'd have to agree. I'd probably throw up if I saw that. I have had anxiety and watching these videos my heart races every time they are by the windows even though it's blurred out. Also, imagine what homicide investigators go through too. 😬 I could never see things like that. I hope to God I never see a decomposed body in my life. Or smell one for that matter. Me being a nurse, I've seen dead people, I saw my own father die right before my eyes. But to see a decomposing body has got to be 100x more difficult.
first off, I am so sorry you had to witness your father pass away. I cannot imagine what that was like But god yeah homicide investigators/crime scene cleaners or anyone who had a job similar to those have probably seen a lot. I can’t even stand watching crime scene cleaners on TikTok, I can’t imagine what it’s like in person. The things they see people never leave them, and I don’t doubt it’s why they sometimes end their lives
Strong work! We have a current MP case in Baxter Co. Arkansas. Missing since 06/25/2004. Family is desperate. Our beautiful twin lakes area is literally surrounded by water. We have many lakes and rivers in the Ozark Mountains…I love your mission and wish you could help this family.
Personally, I do not like the man. He is the most egotistical person I have ever seen. He never misses an opportunity to pat himself on the back. I actually heard him say that he is the best there has ever been in this profession. I had to laugh at such a fatuous comment.
@@chickenlady2589plus when news crews arrive he is running over there to be on TV. Jared taught him absolutely everything he knows snd he stabbed Jared in the back.
As a commercial driver with 15 years of experience, I would suggest a containment system of mesh and magnets to obstruct any adverse pathway on the vehicle. Then extract the project in whole with minimal interference regarding the contents of the target. At least that’s how I ran recovery ops as a dive master after natural disasters in LA, Haiti, Bahamas, and Florida. God bless your team, I know it took a toll on me.
When he said “there is a body in there” my heart dropped. Thank you for helping this family have closure. I love all you do!❤ my condolences to the family.
Man, I loved the way the authorities let you handle this, knowing that you are the experts was great. I have a lot of respect for those authorities in Pittsburgh that know when to intervene and when to give you the space to work, very professionals. And for Doug and Jacob, we are just waiting for you guys to let us know how we can help you to create another team like this to keep this work alive.
This 1 gave me the chills he looked like such a loving caring guy. I feel so sorry for his daughter losing her daddy. I know how it feels having no dad. R.i.p Tod 🙏
Yeah. It’s crazy he’d just dip on her too. I feel so bad for her. As you know, it’s not awesome. A bit selfish to intentionally go when you have little ones.
@Brett Baratheon ending one's life is not selfish if they are suffering. Making people feel guilty for it is what is selfish. I get that it has to be awful for his little girl but when people are that depressed, they often think their loved one's are better off without them. Further shaming people will only worsen depression they are already living with.
@@brettbaratheon9776 @Angela Beaton is exactly right. You don't know what he was going through. The "suck it up, buttercup" mentality held by so many (primarily men, I believe) makes it very difficult for people to ask for help. If you've never had depression or anxiety, I'm sincerely very happy for you. But you have no business criticizing those who either have or currently do. They become very good at hiding it to avoid being judged by both friends and strangers. We need more empathy than apathy in our society.
The little girl losing her dad is the thing that really grieves me. I don't know what made him commit suicide, but I fail to comprehend how it could have been as bad as leaving this child to grow up without her father.
@InterWebGuy99 so utterly disrespectful to the dead. Don't shame the man for ending his journey early. His mind thought everyone would be better without him. Celebrate him life rather then shame the dead.
The song playing while pulling this car/man out of the water was beautiful. It made it nice to watch giving meaning of a life and being missed not just a car recovery.
Could you imagine being down there, taking group photos and not even knowing there is a missing man's body right there? Wow... how horrible. So amazing that they found him but also so heart breaking..
I saw the video for the woman and her 18mo old daughter in Russellville AR and it made my heart hurt. I've spent most of my life traveling up and down I-40 to go visit my father. We drove past their bodies countless times, they were found just barely north of that I-40 bridge. Now I'm gonna spend the rest of my life when I go over a bridge wondering if I'm driving past the body of a missing person.
I went out to yellow creek in wellsville ohio where they found Charles Fluharty. You have to drive past where his car was found to get into yellow Creek and I had always felt like something was off and a couple weeks later they found him in yellow creek. I’ll tell you it’s a weird feeling to know that you were somewhere and right off the side of the road is where a missing man was for so long. I was shocked with all the people who have boats up there that they didn’t see his car and report it but also people loose four wheelers and stuff in the water there to so idk. Theres also kids that go tubing and swimming there too
The saddest part is I live here in Pittsburgh. 5 minutes outside of the city. Drive those rivers every day. 100 cars? That’s insane. In the summer especially in that body of water near PNC park and Heinz field there are just SO many boats. All of those boats tailgating with 100 cars below them. Sadly they recently confirmed Tod was ruled a suicide. Which surprised me because he was so well loved. Very tragic but I hope his family finds peace.
Well done. I'm glad some of it was blurred out for respect to the family. I wouldn't want my deceased family member being seen on a rescue like this. Again, well done. Doug does an awesome job.
Beautifully executed. Perfect recovery. I love the respect of blurring the image but sometimes I want to see the reality of it. To see what y’all see first hand.
You know, I feel the same. I tread lightly here out if respect, because it's not a morbid fascination. Like you, I'd like to see the reality of what the divers and others experience, getting the full picture of all that's entailed in such a rescue. I also respect why this is not shown.
On the one hand I agree, on the other hand I think if we, the inexperienced public, caught even a glimpse of the unedited image... it's probably something that we wish we hadn't and is something that cannot be unseen. Sometimes it's good to be protected from ourselves.
The blurring is more for the family. Who wants to see their loved ones dead body plastered on a public video site. It could be copied for less than honorable purposes
Seeing how clean that car was coming out of the water as opposed to all the other dives where vehicles had layers of mud, rust, and debris buildup was sobering. He wasn't missing for long, and it broke my heart imagining what you guys have seen in newer cases like Tod's. I could never have the strength to handle those sights, so thank you for all that you do in helping families find closure. This team and others like them are the angels this world needs.
Little girls daddy has been found and has come home. Thank-you for such a respectful, dignified and professional recovery of Todd. Your teams are amazing
I so appreciate the empathy and respect that the people involved in this recovery all demonstrate. Even knowing you would blur it, I still watch out the corner of my eye. I'm fascinated to see the viewpoint - the visibility, current, etc - but the thought that a loved one may ever accidentally see an image of their family member or friend is horrific, so thank you for ensuring that never happens. The courage you all must have, doing these dives where you know it's possible that you may encounter a body... Amazing. Thank you all.
I'm almost 72 and I still can see the 7 year old boy that drown in the river. It was where all us kids played in the summer. When he fell in- my sister yelled at me to go get mom and to call the boys mom. I was riding my pony so I could get there( about 3/4 mile from home) quicker than running on foot. I will never forget that image of my mom and about a dozen other people wading in waist deep water hoping they would bump into him and his uncle found him. You really do not want those images burned into your brain like my memories are.
Thank you for being so respectful to Tod & his family in the way you all have assisted in recovering his remains so Tod can have a proper farewell! By blurring those sensitive images, Tod will remain in his family & friends' memories as the person he was!
Doug the professionalism of you and your team is astounding. What you do helping families bring home their loved ones is amazing. Thank you for all you and your team do
It's not Doug's team, it is Jared’s team. Doug has proven himself to be a snake. He turned his back on his friend and tried to take over his business. The man is an egomaniac, who never fails to pat himself on the back.
I’m a huge fan of the channel and I feel you guys don’t get the recognition you deserve for all you do. I only have one complaint and that’s the music. I feel it could do without the music at the recovery point.
Never STOP doing what you're doing, Millions of tears have been shed, Hundreds of hearts have broken. The work you are all doing is the most important gift you can give to those in turmoil over lost ones. I salute you Bravo Zulu which means Job Well done in the United States Navy.
This case is so sad. Tod looked like a great guy, with lots of friends. I'm so sorry that he felt this was the only option he had. I'm so sorry for his family and friends, especially his beautiful daughter. Rest easy, Tod.

A big public thank you for Jacob and Lindsay of Chaos Divers for all the help they provide. They provide free help on a shoe string budget and surprised they don't have more subscribers on U Tube. Kudos to the Pittsburgh Police Dive Team willing to let AWP and Chaos Divers offer help and listen to advice. Great teamwork bringing Tod home and giving his family closure.
I came across the allegations, but straight away, I prayed the rest of you would be able to continue so, I’m relieved to see your notice, that the rest of the team will continue with your much needed & much appreciated searches. Well done.
@Jared & Doug & team... Next time you are in Pittsburgh, I'd love to help you guys out. I was a certified Interspiro/OTS SCBA and SCUBA technician for many years and my brother and I both have extensive backgrounds in EMS, SAR, and confined space rescue. Would love to come help out any way we can. We also know the city like the back of our hand. I actually organized a dive demonstration of the Aquacom system you guys use at a local rescue trade show. We sent our diver down near the Convention Center and he came up with a bicycle and a license plate after just going down in one spot for 10 minutes. That river is literally STREWN with cars because of the wharf parking getting flooded and sweeping dozens of cars into the river every 5 to 10 years or so. Good job finding Todd, I hope his familiy can find peace now.
Always love and respect how the AWP considers the person, family, and public with each recovery. You can feel the heart and compassion with each case. So much respect. RIP Tod
I'm so glad that you were able to help another family find their loved one. May God bless you all and keep you in His embrace as you do this most difficult task of searching for lost loved ones.
It never hits any easier. With each person recovered my heart breaks for them and their family and the tears flow. You guys are amazing! Love the teamwork here. Great work to all involved!
To Sierra and Syren, I am so sorry for your loss. His spirit will continue to live on within you and everyone who has ever loved him. A smile like that, even coming from someone I’ve never met, could shine a light in any darkness! Fly High Mr. Tod!
I'm glad you helped bring him home and gave closure to his friends and family. If you're struggling with mental health, it gets better and there are so many options for you.
I'm a new Sub & I'm born & raised in Pgh 58 yrs old & still here. I wasn't surprised at the amount of cars found in that water. My dad use to tell me about a submarine ride a long time ago in that river, & he said they stopped it because body's were floating around. & I did have a good friend show up in there a few yrs ago, so there's no telling what may be found in there.
I’m so proud to be a tiny little part of AWP and the whole AWP movement. Jared did an awesome job gaining/sharing knowledge and equipment. And he kept learning every day as well. He also managed to find the most amazing people to be the AWP team. Y’all came so far in such a short time! Found so many loved ones just like Tod. I have nothing but love and respect for each and every one of you. Chaos Divers as well. Beautifully done guys. My heart is with Tod’s loved ones. Knowing is so much better than wondering. Peace.

I hope AWP continues the work you started. Pulling people and cars from the rivers is so important. You found a void that needed to be filled. Keep up the good work.

He was a very troubled 16 y/o kid that made terrible mistakes and shouldn't be judged as an adult as so many are doing now, especially for his recent contributions to society.
@John Nash very true. He also has done a lot of community service. Whether he did it or not his family is after money and that's just messed up. Why wait 30 years?
@@jaycietaylor Jaycie, Did I say it was excusable? No, I very clearly said he was a kid, and therefore, he should not be judged as if he is guilty as an adult. Did you make mistakes as a kid that you'd never do as an adult?

Thank you guys for all you do. Became a member to help you guys keep doing what you're doing. RIP Tod, dear boy. He was loved and left a daughter:( he must have been in a lot of pain. I must know, as a pianist, what the song at the very end, the outtro?? Can anyone help me find it, it brings me solace. 💚
I believe it was an accident, specifically due to the mention on the front plate being missing and what looks like front end damage that doesn’t quite look like it was from entering the water. Although I haven’t looked into the case to verify that as of yet, but we do know he was in the city to attend a concert. A lot of traffic around those things and people who are under the influence, anything is possible.
