This reminds me of that one prisoner of war who was thrown into a Soviet insane asylum because he was talking gibberish. He was only freed when a Czech person recognized the language as Hungarian. His name was András Toma.
But in my opinion it makes sense.. The biggest communities of space engineers are in fact english and german. German because we (i am a german) love engineering stuff and it is almost indoctrinated into our brains since the first days on earth: (At age 1 to 7 in the daycare center and kindergarten, children play with wooden building blocks and Lego. Geometry is also learned at school from the second to third grade onwards.) And english because.... well... Everyone speeks english xD
@@zoivac1048 I'm not saying it doesn't make sense, I just find it funny because it accidentally kinda plays into the stereotype that us English speakers (I'm American) are self centered.
Maybe for the PvE update they're going to be like Guardians from Elite: Dangerous. A race whose only remains are AI drones and ruins. We scavenge those the proto-tech. But what would we use it against/for? We don't have any real bad guys aside from wild life.
It's just the monolith from Mars pasted it again but I have got plans for another video discussing all the other times the Monolith and Stereolith have shown up.
Just played the "first jump" scenario again. When you find the monolith text pops up "come engineer, there is much for you to see" Also its definitely the one from the moon.
I'm German and found it incredibly amusing when it turned out to be German. I then jokingly thought to myself, "Damn, he's about to uncover our conspiracy!" I lost it when you brought the meme with the two astronauts. 😅😂
The largest furry communities are found in the United States, Canada, the UK, and Germany. So naturally the Monolith and Stereolith are inscribed with the two most common languages used by space faring furries.
I used to think that the Alien Planet (i like to call it Saberoidia) was a rogue planet that intersected the solar system and threw things out of orbit, thats why it captured Titan, Europa is around Mars, and Triton was ejected from Neptune. When they added Pertam it kinda threw that off, unless there was another solar system that collided with ours, but then there would be a second sun probably too. Perhaps actually instead of rogue planet, in the early solar system, there were two other planets? But with this information in the video, maybe the true answer is this: Space Engineers doesnt refer to us, it refers to the ancient race, when they went out to the stars they engineered a replica of some planets and moons from their home star system, but since they were so ancient, they didnt know what earth would end up looking like due to plate tectonics, they just new that it was a newly lifebearing planet and called it Eden (Which is usually what i call Earthlike in game). Maybe Pertam and Alien planet are just some other planets that were already in the system where they were building
A simple but fantastically useful trick to protect ciphers and substitutions, just make the language different than your opponents. Its why the Navajo code talkers were so successful.
It's funny, I had "Und dann" when I was trying to translate it before but I didn't know enough German to spot it. Damn British curriculum teaching us French!😡
@@Zer0sLegion, of course, there’s a bigger mystery built into the existing monolith & stereolith. As you noted, they’re written both in the past tense *and* third person, so they weren’t left by the people they’re talking about. But, at the same time, they’re a mystery to the humans we play. That means *two* groups , long since lost to history. What happened to them both, and which one is responsible for the prototech?
@@BrianRonald, except that the naming scheme is a play on mono and stereo *sound* applied to the term ‘monolith’. Mono: single-channel audio. Stereo: two-channel (technically 2+, but traditionally & typically 2) audio, generally left/right channels Generally anything beyond that just starts being called ‘surround sound’, so I looked for some options that would sound right and tell people ‘this is #3’.
@@Vessekx They took a 10 000 year nap while the terraforming got completed and are just about to wake up and find new infestations tearing up their garden :P
Lets go, it didnt even appear in my inbox yet, but the homepage showed it to me edit: As a fellow German the german pronounciation is perfect, was that AI or someone you know?
Can be used VS raiding grind resistance is insane but take normal damage to Guns and is verry expensive to bild. 150 steal plates and 600 super condictors
Bro I never knew this was in SPACE Engineers, I was writing a plot for my game and I thought putting black monoliths as the center of mystery in my game was an original Idea 😭
The monolith isn't even original to the space engineers devs anyway lmao...there's literally a famous movie that it got the idea from...you must be a kid if you haven't watched it
TBH the way it's using a slightly modified font and a distantly related language (english is in the same germanic family as Deutsch aka German) could point to the language of these people has actually evolved in the bit of time between the construction of the monolith and stereolith
Native german speaker here. Slight mistake, in this sentence, the last word needs to beginn with a capital e "Eden". It's a noun and the object of that sentence, so it's not written with an "e". And if the aliens became german and then wolfs, they would be german sheppards. Well, to me it's logical they became german. Which other people are precise and efficient enougth to uproot an entire civilisaation but leave markers for eventual stragglers behind? I also vote to integrate more monoliths, called the Baselith, the Dolbylith and the Surroundlith. Could make a gimmick when they're all togethre and play that old base-rich jingle for Doulby-surround-sound. Or, when placed in a pattern act as a super-energy source. Wouldn't break the game if you had to collect and transport them.
I just going out on a limb but I think they may add a new planet for the specie that made the relics and add lore that has Been in the making for 8 plus years and it’s going to be the biggest update made
I don't play Space Engineers but I subscribed because I couldn't stop laughing... well done! BTW, 2001 a space odyssey needs to be seen on a big screen... and... they aren't the wolves... it's the mice... 42
imagine attacking prototech ships automonous drones lecft behind by ther anchents, they have lazer and plasma weaponry, maybe even shields, they become less effective when merged with human ships, due to insufficient power
In terms of textual content it makes perfect sense, but the other way around it would make a little more sense from an evolutionary perspective, since English developed from the Germanic language as far as i know. Does that mean reverse engeneering? Or is there another meaning behind it?
In minerwars 2081 (the game Keen made before SE and what inspired it) the whole story revolves around trying to discover the location of an ancient aliens Could they be the same aliens? who knows
And now im thinking. In Medieval Engineers is on north ice cup a cave. In that cave is frozen corpse of space engineer. Its only easter egg, but now i have some ideas about story. :D
That race could probably be humans It's a popular theory that humans came from mars as it was theoriticaly very much like the earth . This also explains why the monolth and stereolith use earth languagues . However that mean that english came before french and that's unaceptable. I hope we find a french relic too .
@@Zer0sLegion the way i personally interpret it is someone made the tech and they are almost a bit like a dr halsey from halo or dr valien from xcom like scientist aka they did shady stuff so they now being hunted down for their crimes that being said both did use reclaimed alien tech to make their tech so i can see us both being right in a way
Since you went from Mars to the Moon and looked up to the Earth: There are clear signs those aliens experimented with translocation technology. Some large bodies of water were translocated to different positions. Like here: GPS:look here:-41673.11:41666.3:-18950.74:#FFF17575: Maybe they used that tech to move all of their stuff, explaining why the planets look untouched. 😂
Stereolith problem-example (abc cdbb) made think about "Und dann" .. Hah, and a minute later we have it.. At least an "?nd dann" Im somewhat excited about when we will find and what is written on the "Surroundolith"
It seems someone is browsing on the German Wikipedia ... Oh it is German buuuut with a capitalization error. It should be "Garten Eden" in German as such names/nouns are capitalized. Does that wrong capitalization mean something? I also think these verses are from (at least) the German translation of the Old Testament. Also don't forget the fishes as creatures! I mean they SWIMM in actual liquid water! That is mysterious enough! Maybe the swimming fishes are essentially the prototech!
How I have had this game for over 6 years and are only now am I finding out there are monoliths and I have been on Mars heaps and the moon I basically ohh well I have been on the moon twice or so but still😢😢😢
maybe they will answer our biggest question we all asked ourselves at one time.... whyyyy are we here???..... haha but like many others i do think keen will unveil a bit in the pve updates that might tie in the story of the monolith/stereolith relics that might create a story ??? well just have to see i guess O.o
Nah! I don´t think the Factorum has anything to do with the ´liths. They say "You have forgotten us, pushed us into the void", so the ´you´ in this case is most likely ´us´, the Space Engineers, making the pushing into the void a recent historical event and the Factorum-people humans (or maybe cyborgs, according to the modulated voice and the gear symbol on their head), not some precursor-race [except we´re looking at a SCP-1000 situation].
My guess is the two different fonts and languages may be a result of two coexisting (happily or not) cultures of the same "race". And it seems most probable that it was a third party documenting some other civilization's story, or maybe the space faring civilization the liths talk about just really liked talking in the third person .🤷♂
What if its called mars because it is mars, and we come from it, its a simple theory, we found alien tech, we touched it and we screwed up and teleported the entire planet with the colonies we established, thats why we dont see much infrastructure, we screwed up, teleprted a planet and its moons and now we must survive in this wierd world on scatered colonies and nomadic ships, and the updates arent retcons (at least not after beta) but our technology advancing rapidly, prototech could even be just our own, left from the cataclysm
I bet a new Planet is coming to Space Engineers. I was thinking about the Lith's and how we would go about doing that in real life. Such as we would need to go to the moon first then to mars, however that would mean Eden is not the earthlike planet. To be honest a more distant planet with water and proto-tech would seem more likely to be Eden.
