This video demonstrates how the soundcheck option found in settings/music/soundcheck affects music playback volume when connected via Bluetooth or Apple CarPlay.
Wow! This has been driving me nuts ever since I bought my new truck. At certain points in a song you want to crank it hard and rock to that guitar riff but it just wasn’t happening. Can’t wait for my next road trip to really enjoy my tunes. Thanks so much!!
Omg! I’m so glad I ran across this video! Was so frustrating that I could never figure out why Apple Music was so much lower than standard radio music. Thank you so much!
BRO.... Found this video in a random forum while trying anything and everything to troubleshoot my premium alpine sound system and why the quality suddenly dropped off when streaming and using CarPlay. The stupid ass sound check feature must have been turned on after an iPhone update. I wish I would have found this video so much sooner. I've been to the dealership twice, online countless hours, updated and reset nearly everything on the Jeep and it was just this stupid little setting. Thanks my man!
Thank you for this! It's been driving me crazy wondering what was making my music so quiet lately or if I was going deaf, but after turning off the Sound Check which I didn't realize was on after getting my new phone, much better! I noticed it just makes my metal songs more quiet which kind of goes against the whole point of that type of music.
2 years later - and still dumb that you need to do this! Thank you so much!!!!!! I’m on a 2023 Goldwing motorcycle and it was driving me nuts lol. Appreciate it!
You’re a legend in my book. I’m over here with the new 19 speaker 950 watt McIntosh system going insane because my 04 4Runner had better sound lol. Thank you so much for this.
Fantastick. That fixed my wife's carplay integration on her new Mazda. I am so glad I don't have to deal with any of these problems with my Tesla. Zero buttons compared to wife's over 50 buttons. It's incredible how easy a good 15" screen UI is compared to buttons.
what a difference! I was about to have a amp installed. Also on i phone, if you go to music in settings and then go to EQ and select Late Night this will also increase volume.
That’s awesome! I have an eBay android based radio and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why the sample song that comes preloaded on the radio was louder then my Apple Music. Thanks so much for showing us!
I got a ram 1500 limited I was about to take it to the dealership but I did notice the difference between radio and Apple car play, needless to say I follow your instructions and my system is working like a champ
THANK YOU. I’ve always had sound check off and didn’t think about checking it. iPhone did an update and it must have turned it back on. It’s been driving me nuts. Thanks to you, I’m back to working on going deaf in the Jeep.
"Sound Check" was disabled already. This video is basically only for people who use Apple Music. I use Spotify and Pandora, and to have my music actually "rocking out" loud, my volume ends up on like 68. Having to turn your volume up to 68 is absolutely absurd. You have to turn it way down if you get a phone call, or switch to radio, or you will blow your speakers and eardrums out. I hope they fix this nonsense soon.
I also have Sound Check disabled, and I also have Apple Music but I typically use RU-vid Music in the car. I’m just now realizing it might be the source that’s the issue. Gonna try a few things tomorrow and see how it turns out.
Oh my goodness I love you. I just bought a new car and the stereo sometimes loud sometimes isn’t I was going absolutely bonkers. I was gonna take my car back to the dealer and feel really stupid and tell him why my radio is so low, but thank you so much. I hope that makes the difference.
This just helped so much, I was so pissed on how low my CarPlay was I was getting ready to buy a new head unit and speakers, this just saved so much money. Thank you.
Wow. You are a star. I bought a new car-play and the sound it was sometimes ok sometimes bad. I thought it is because of the connectivity..I switched between bluetooth to aux and drive me crazy..I wanted to return the product and to gave a big negative review. Now I sorted the sound quality thankfully
You found the hole 😅 This is really helpful. Since one year I was facing this issue. But did or recognize that. Somebody attached the android phone and it was quite loud. I thought my system is buggy.
i listen to metal and suddenly my speakers were super quiet after using the talk/listening feature so i’ll have to give this a shot i hope it works thank you fellow metal brother
Broooo😂!!! Thank you helped so much i was so close to buy some new speakers 🔊 cuz i was like they not loud enough so i when to try this out and damn it was load 😂thanks again man
Thank you for posting the video I actually found a workaround where I reverted back to 15.3.1 on my iOS on my i phone which got rid of the problem I did try your Soundcheck on off but because I’ve blocked all updates on my iOS it’s no longer is an issue and when using the iPhone, sound check function like you did my sound is unaffected. but like yourself it drove me crazy and I found a blog that said Apple had an attenuator function and didn’t let me anyone know, and like a lot of other people I like my music loud ! Rock on ! thank you very much for your post and hopefully turning off sound check will allow me to continue purchasing iPhone because I was gonna go back to android because of this issue so I’m going to try it out on my wife’s phone which has iPhone iOS 16+ and I’m gonna try to see if sound check on/off on her rogue works tonight thanks again!
WOW! Thanks I was going crazy trying to figure that out. Especially with the GPS voice. My poor family had to keep quiet in the car so that I could hear the directions, LOL.
With CarPlay, when the assistant is talking, quickly turn the volume up or down. That will change the navigation volume only. You have to be quick as its only when it's talking. ie: "In a 1/4 mile, turn left on 19th street".
Didn't work for me. Jensen aftermarket ALWAYS starts at 11 for iphone maps, audible books, all of it. And every time I start the car, I have to start over to bring it up to 20 or so. I'd hoped your system would fix that, but no luck. Glad you fixed it for others!
Thank you very much !!! I really didn't know what is happening with the apple car play on my new Volkswagen tiguan allspace premium elegance 2022. I knew that something is wrong but now I understand why👌😊
Guys, just turn off your ringer on your phone and you should be able to adjust your volume instead of it being stuck on guidance volume. That was the solution I was looking for
Thanks It made my 15 inch subwoofer go silent. It kept saying I reached the recommended limits for the bass I have 2 subwoofers professional installed. It reset 30 every days I get 3 days worth of bass then no sound again. I thought it was a shortage in the cords or witing issues.
OMG!!!! you don't understand what this means to me! lol Seriously! I was considering getting a whole new sound system or taking the damn car back! Thank you!
Is this only if you are using Apple music app or it's for Apple car itself generally? The reason I'm asking is because I can't find that music setting on my iPhone?
Understood the SoundCheck thing...my issue is why can't I adjust the EQ settings while using CarPlay on my UConnect radio? It sounds great on Bluetooth but as soon as I hook up the USB it goes to this different sound that's not adjustable...
Amazing! Thanks so much for this! My issue is with Spotify. There’s a similar setting in Spotify. So i think you might have hit the nail on the head for that as well! I noticed this lack of volume and having to turn the volume literally all the way up while having the windows down on the highway. And I’ll have to check tomorrow and see if its fine with Sirius or if the speakers are just trash!
Thumbs up m’man!! I turn my car off, the Bluetooth kicks the phone off, and I get a BLAST of LOUD music from the FM radio before I open the car door. (Which turns off the infotainment system/radio completely) I know you get what I’m taking about, because I see you drive a Chevy too! Wait…I just checked my phone, and I have “sound check” off, and I still have a huge volume difference between the music that comes from my phone, and the music that comes from the car. Ugg
well I have a brand new 23 cs and I have the same issue but mine is with all the audio sources. my volume is low no matter what I do. I can turn the volume all the way up and I can still have a full conversation with the person next to me please help
My sound check button isn’t on. And I can hardly hear in CarPlay. My car volume buttons and knob do not increase the volume either when CarPlay is connected.
Great thanks! Mine doesnt change much but still it makes bit louder though. Better than before. I hoped it would change all volumes louder (youtube music, poscasts etc) but it seems like its just changing what comes from music app. But thanks its better now :)
