My husband has had this issue since 2012 and he has tried everything (your description about your several trials sounded way too familiar) AND NOW FINALLY it is fixed 😂 perfect little black box! Thanks for the video!
this thing works, I had the same issue with my PC rig with my set of Yamaha HS5 active monitors. I also used balanced XLR -TLSs without taping the jacks, whacked it into the HD400 hum destroyer and BAM! The buzz/hum completely disappeared! thanks for this, brilliant suggestion.
I just wanted to come by to thank you, I remember 6 years ago I first stumbled on to your first minecraft gameplay video, watched the whole series and enjoyed it so much. I coming back 6 years later can still remember the videos so well, one thing that's still stuck in my memory is the Acorn tree. Love you so much it's a funny thing to say but you are my childhood
Thanks for stopping by buddy :) I really appreciate it. I've been throwing around the thought of doing one more Minecraft series... Started playing it again recently and been enjoying myself. But yes I really do appreciate your support and I am glad you have enjoyed my content. Stay awesome!
Hi ! I have the same problem ! Before 2 months I bought my first pair of studio monitors and still have this problem - they are useless ! I lost hours and probably days to search the problem changing sockets and trying different things. Finally I found that the problem comes inside the box from my desktop PC and ... most probably from the video card or power box. I am drafter/structural engineer and use two screen monitors and use Nvidia Quadro graphics card. Today I make more attention on this device Behringer HD400 and tried to find in You tube connection between it and "studio monitors" and .... your explanation confirms all my doubts. THANK YOU ! ! ! The only bad thing for me is that I need to wait two weeks or month because the device is not available in my country.
2022 and only now ive seen this fix... Years back did came across these issues but not this one due to GPU (Only now im having since few months back because i got a RTX the thing is very powerful so this issue decided to showup) Im on the path now to buy these devices your advising and see if helps me some how! I know its been 6 years lol but thanks for this even in 2022 with all these super new gen devices your still helping better than most i can see lol thank you again
Omfg Dude.. You safed my life! :D I have the same Monitors as you since 5 Years(but with the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Interface) and i had the same issue when i was playing games or rendering something. I tried so many things and nothing solved my problems... I love you man :D Best regards from Germany!
I just bought this little wonder box today and it worked just fine. I had 100% the same problem (my background noise was low using certain applications, but when i opened up games like DOTA2,Max Payne ..the hum would become unbearable). So i figured i try this out just like you did .. I am using two DENON-DN308S monitors (150 Watt per piece with individual active Amplifiers - just like yours have) and the HD400 miracle box even works using all unbalanced connectors. I tried various combinations with Unbalanced stereo (or RCA) to Balanced TRS / Unbalanced TRS (or TS) and it works either way. I was told by a lot of professionals that there is no such thing as balancing your audio circuits through any type of box.. but this little thing sure does more than that. Totally recommend this ! A cheap (around 25 EUROS) and affordable solution to Enjoy the Silence. Thanks a lot JB !! YOU KICK ASS !!
Glad you got your issue sorted and I was able to help! The magical little box just breaks the loop that happens between all your devices and it does this by creating a new ground or Earth in the system. I think if my audio interface had its own power supply and didn't run off USB it would have broken the loop too, but I have no way of testing this. Anyways enjoy your silence! :D
I've had digital noise in my KRK Rokit's for years Actually got the HD400 for my guitar amp FX Loop and while looking for some videos on it came across this, just tried it and fixed the issue now I got to buy another one lol thanx man!
No problem! Nice that you already had one to test it out first. I just bought it blindly knowing the theory behind what I thought it was doing. It's a nice cheap fix! Now go enjoy your noise free speakers :D
Since you're using an external Audio Interface you might as well just isolate the USB Interface using an Galvanic USB Isolator like an iFi iDefender+. That way your analog audio signal between the audio interface and your speakers/monitors remains "untampered" with and only the digital connection between your PC and the USB Audio Interface gets isolated. It's the "cleaner" solution for your ground loop as far as signal integrity is concerned.
I'm now experiencing this with my AMD 5700xt and an M-Audio Air | Hub paired with Yamaha HS7 Studio Monitors. I've just ordered the Hum Destroyer and an additional pair or 1/4" TRS balanced cables for interconnect. I am 99% sure it's a GPU DAC ground loop and that this will fix it. I'm experiencing the same thing you've demonstrated with games in particular driving the obnoxious noises at intolerable volumes. Thank you so much I'm sure you've saved me and many other people a lot of $$ buying up-market DACs as a possible fix.
Thanks so much dude, I have this same issue and tried several things. Bought an USB hub with external power, should also fix te problem, but rather than only the signal my USB hub both gets signal and power through the USB port with additional power from the external power adapter. I didn't expect that. Now I'm going to buy the HD400 and 2 TRS cables and hope this fixes it!
I had a terrible ground loop within my pedal board and mixer in my home studio ! Just couldn't get rid of it so I had to use a gate but it was not a great idea ! Then I remember a friend had told me ages ago to cut the earth at one end of the audio cable so there was only the signal without the ground connected at one end of the cables ! The hum completely vanished ! Cheapest and easiest method by far ! PS I didnt cut the mains ground cable ! I did it on the audio cables input ! The output audio is still grounded ! DS
So i see you plug unbalanced cable for each channel from your audio interface into hd400 and then from hd400 to speaker using balanced cable So if you still use unbalanced cables for input and output of each channel, will the noise still be there?
LIVELOVEteyTEY it most certainly did. There is a slight hiss from the speakers now but it's hardly noticable unless my ear is right next to them. The horrendous noise however was completely elimated best 20 dollars I ever spent.
can u help i have same noises but in my earbuds . how do i connect it to behringer hd400 ? and then to computer ? also would this help you think or for headphones i should buy other hum destroyer?
the power supply for sound card would not help to solve ground loop. I have a sound card with external power supply and I have GPU noise on my KRK. SO just ordered HD400. Tried everything....
That is weird. A XLR cable should have solved the problem. I guess the amps inside the KRK don't 100% decouple from the ground, what they should. Good to know that helped. Oh ... and by the way .. the Behringer Unit simply has two to 1:1 audio transformers in it. They do that galvanic isolation you needed.
I am having GPU interference through my RE320 dynamic microphone which is plugged into my scarlett 2i2 usb audio interface. Do you think I am having a similiar issues as you and could the hum destroyer help with my microphone interference? Thanks!
Hello jaayb , i have same problem as in video but noises coming through my earbuds , would Behringer HD400 solve this problem to me? and how do i connect it to computer and my earbuds to this hd400 hum destroyer? also when using big normal headphones ( philips shp2500 ) there no noises
Probably not I'm afraid. There is no reasonable way to connect a stereo mini-jack to something that needs 2x mono 1/4" jacks. But on the flipside its hard to say if you have the same issue. It could be the headphones, a dodgy connector, could be a ground loop or it could be something else. Without knowing your specific setup its hard to say. Try a few things and see if you can narrow it down :)
@@JaayB when unplug GPU from computer no noises . do u think ground loop isolator would help in that case? and why in big headphones no noises while in earbuds i hear interference
I've never had issues with phantom power myself. All I did was plug my speakers into the HD400 > Audio Interface and made sure the contacts were isolated with electrical tape. I'm using a phantom power mic (Rode NTG) as my primary mic at the moment instead of the yeti and still no issues with this setup when using either my PC or iMac.
If you think you have a grounding issue or something that can be solved by converting an unbalanced signal to a balanced one. I've never actually used it with a pedalboard setup before so I really cannot say for certain. I usually plug my guitar straight into my USB interface and use digital plugins.
It wont because of where the grounding is taking place. My issue was with the speakers so I used this thing to ground it in the connection between the card and the output. If its on your headphones you need to find a way to do the same betwen the output ack and your earphones, or a way to ground it before the sound card.
@@JaayB Thanks Jaay, for anyone wondering I found a device called "IFI idefender" that can break the ground to the sound card via USB and should resolve the issue but have not yet tried it myself. Thanks.
Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help I'm thinking about buying the Behringer vMicroHD Hum Destroyer as my krk are making a horrible sound while my laptop is charging, I'm using a focusrite scarlett solo 1st gen so what cables would I need to buy for the hum destroyer?
I THINK (please confirm this for me) that the gen 1 interface uses RCA connectors as an output (the red and white colour coded ports)? So you will need to use an RCA to 1/4 Jack cable to get your cable into the hum destroyer. From there you can use a 1/4 jack to XLR cable, or a plain 1/4 jack as the krk speakers support both if you have the same model as mine or higher. Just look at the connectors and you have in the back and you should be fine. If your connectors are metal and touching, make sure to tape them up!
Yes the Gen 1 interface does use RCA connectors as the output, Im using the KRK Rokit 5. So if I'm correct in what I have read I need 1 RCA to 1/4 jack cable and 2 1/4 jack to XLR cable to set this up?
Did you manage to fix it with the hd400 ? I also have an RTX 3080 connected to a mixer via USB to my KRK speakers and I tried everything possible to eliminate the noise (cheap USB isolator partially fixed the problem for the speakers but when I plugged my Headphones into the mixer a High noise was very irritating I'm gonna try the hd400 next week I hope it will fix the issue it's been 1 year ...
Strange, mine was only when the GPU was working hard. Playing youtube videos shouldn't even break a sweat for most cards. Perhaps listen on your phone to hear the difference? Or plug in some headphones to your PC. They should naturally break the loop as well.
F I N A L L Y! i've had this problem for 3 YEARS. Driving me NUTS. This fixed my shit! i can FINALLY game again without the constant "BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ"
