I see the video is 7 years ago. I hope you are still around and ok 🙏🏿. Thank you so much for your fantastic way of teaching. It is so hard to find someone legit online to explain so beautifully. I had to subscribe to you immediately because I was so impressed. Thank you 😊
I’ve seen this video 10 years later and you really have helped me for my major test tomorrow appreciate all ur effort thank you so much for this video!!!
I am sorry to hear that. This is a tough time and I feel so happy every time I hear that these videos I made are helping some. Keep fighting through it. Better times are coming and your education is important. If I can help somehow more let me know! :)
I'm legit crying because I've had my teacher constantly repeat how to do this over and over and I couldn't understand this for five weeks and it gave me anxiety and you taught it to me properly. I want to thank you because it is currently 3:18 and I needed this for a test tomorrow
Alyssa McMurry WOW! Situations like this are why I am so happy I decided to put my videos on RU-vid! I am so glad you were able to take away some better learning on this. Remember to always eliminate the smaller coefficient of the two variables on the test. So if two negatives do the bigger one first. If positives, then get the smaller one first. That solves most of my students issues on this. Good luck!
Hi 👋, I'm Venessa. I just subscribed and so your comment which touched me. I hope you don't mind me responding to it. What you said is so true dearest. I feel you completely. I had gone through the same thing so many times.😪. You find that others explain but somehow confuse you more. So I too am grateful 🙏🏿to this amazing 👏🏿🙏🏿🙌🏿teacher. He knows his story.
Your videos are so helpful honestly I didn't understand anything in class and I have a quiz tomorrow but your vids made me understand every single problem so thank you and pray for me thanks👌
Me too! He is a life saver, we worked on these all week in virtual class and I was lost, 1 half hour video from him and I whizzed all his examples. I sure wish he was my math teacher. He is an angel. P.s Pray for me too although now maybe I don’t need it lol
Thank you so much James! I’ve been struggling with advanced mathematics because I hadn’t a great maths head in the first place, and since I’ve been out of school for over 10 years, diving back into algebra has been difficult. I just wanted to leave my appreciation, after scouring RU-vid and the internet, I started your video extremely frustrated with Math, and about half way through following your lesson, it clicked, and I sped through my worksheets like Einstein! Thank you :D
Oh my gosh thank you SOOOO much for posting this video, you just saved my math quarter 1 grade. Im so grateful for you and your videos, you explain it so well. Even though it was posted 9 years ago it still helped me soo much! Thank you.
That is awesome! I really appreciate the positive feedback. Math learning doesn’t expire and even if things change, sometimes it is nice to learn maybe a slightly different way if it helps it “click”. Also give yourself a big pat on the back for continuing to stick with it and finding a way to understand!
Thank you, you have a very enthusiastic new subscriber! I'm a 57 year old woman with leukemia. To Keep my chemo-soaked brain sharp, I'm relearning algebra. You're making it easy-isher. I'm enjoying learning, thanks so much!
I love your enthusiasm and you are an inspiration! Keep me updated on how the learning is going and the recovery as you hit milestones of success! You got this!
@@mathlearningmadeeasy Thank you for replying! This was too easy, so I moved on to quadratics. Ummm, backing up... I love this, tho. Thank you very, very much.
6x+9=3x-3 -3x -3x 3x+9=-3 -9 -9 3x=-12 divide both side by 3 3x/3=-12/3 x=-4 this video is helpful to me because it has been a while I visited my math book.
LOVE HOW YOU CIRCLED THE CONSTANTS AND PUT SQUARES OVER THE VARIABLES. You're a great teacher, thank you for this video. This has been the most helpful video that I have watched thus far.
i like to consider myself a writer, or an artist. i’m not the best at math but i shine through when i’m writing. i was failing my math class and science class until i found your page and now i have the highest math score in the eighth grade honors class. i’m crying so hard and i thank you for all you’ve done for me and other students
~ A million Thank You’s to you for making these video’s. After your simple and detailed explanation I finally get it. So very Happy 😊 I came across your page. ~ 💜
@@lazairoisevictory5710 I love to hear that! I plan to really try to pump up this channel this summer and going into next year with both updated videos and companion practice. I mainly will be remaking older videos that don’t already have a ton of likes (since those can’t change) but am happy to create new content if it makes sense. These were all made many years ago and now I work training college professors to create videos. I am excited for new ways to help learners around the world!
@@mathlearningmadeeasy I just found your videos today. I am so happy, and I hope I will be seeing more videos. I really need this course for my college. Do you teach Statistics too? I kept dropping off this class; it is so hard.
@@lazairoisevictory5710 I teach the professors at the college but did develop a Statistics course through psychology. I do understand then the principles of the stats courses pretty well, though I have not created content for here in that area.
I am in 7th grade and new to algebra. My teacher recommended these videos to me and my fellow students. Thank you for explaining this in a way where I can understand and how it is not rushed.
Awesome! So glad it helps you out! Let me know if there is something I don’t have up and maybe I can make a video for you guys! Where are you located by the way? Fun to know where my videos are traveling in this country (and beyond!)
Brooooo this is amazing!!!!!!!you explain like the easiest way that could exist!!!!! IT'S LIKE AAAAAAAA YOU DON'T KNOW HOW THANKFUL I'M WITH YOU!!!!!I HAVE A QUIZ TOMORROW BUT NOW I FEEL CONFIDENT THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!!
I know this videos from 2013 and it is the 2019 but it was superhelpful I do not have any idea of how to do it until I watch this video 😝❣️ Thanks so much
THANK YOU SO MUCH I am in 8th grade algebra 1 honors, and I was worried because I could not understand this, but you helped me so much, I hope your still alive because you are an amazing teacher! ❤
Thank you son much this really helped a lot during my mid winter break I was given a math pa key about these equations and I had basically for got about how to do them . Now I remember thanks to you .
That is awesome Dulce that you kept looking into you found a way that made sense to you! Always find a way that makes sense to you and don’t give up. This is my personal account but I wanted to say thanks!
Fantastic content James. You've made it so easy to understand as a parent trying to support to a 6th grader. I was terrible at math when I was at school in the 80's /90's. Internet wasn't around. I learnt more math from youtube videos than I did at school . The wonders of internet. Kids don't know how easy they have it these days. Thank you. Subscribed. Can you send me a link to recap style algebra questions.
Hi Anita! Thank YOU for being a parent trying to support their children in this pandemic. Even the most motivated and hardest working teachers struggle alone right now. Not 100% sure what you mean by recap style, but check my videos on here as I do have a lot of Algebra content. Basically math 1 and math 2 content is Algebra. I changed the names because of the new math structure, but really it was all Algebra content.
This video acutally helped me a lot, tons of video on youtube dosent really explain and give you question to try, this video help me a lot and im gonna use ur channel. thank you
man thanks so much for your videos...i'm currently in college and i didnnt understand anything in my algebra class and i've watched tons of videos but yours are the only ones that have helped me....and trust me when i say i was lost.
This was fabulous! My daughter is in 7th grade and it's been many moons since I had to do any real algebra. We've been struggling for weeks, and I've spent countless hours Googling stuff. After your 30 minute video, I feel like I've been doing it all my life. I'm pretty sure that when I have my daughter go through it, she will be a pro! Thank you for taking the time to do this, you're a real life saver!!! Do you happen to do anything on equations that have "one solution", "no solution" or "infinite solution"?
+Dawn Tonner I actually do! My way of doing it might be completely different than her teacher though. I use the slopes and y-intercepts because I think that is much better way to understand what is happening versus solving equations and getting random answers such as 0=5. Kids always get confused by this. However, lines have one solution if they have different slopes, because they will cross eachother ONCE! If they have no solution it is because they have the same slope and different y intercepts, because they are parallel and parallel lines will NEVER cross. And lastly they have "infinitely many" solutions if they are intersecting each other all the time. This occurs when they are the same line written in a tricky way so you can't tell. Thus, they will have the same slope and same y intercept. I have my students check slope and y-intercept as the first step. If they find different slopes, solve away! But if the slopes are different, so ahead and find which it is (NONE or INFINITELY MANY). Here is a link.... Best of luck! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XBec2Fcodtc.html
Sir, I love you!. I spent three weeks trying to understand solving equations, when I tell you I was stuck, I was STUCK. Thank you for your patience and dedication for math turtle like me.
The love is mutual! You have no idea how much comments like these brighten my day! Teaching math for as long as I did was a labor of love. Helping people overcome the fear and anxiety that math can put in so many of us (myself included at one point) is really a special experience in this world. The fact that it continues to help on here was never an intent of this channel back then, but it brings me a lot of joy. Thank you for the kind words. You will have to define a math turtle for me because I really am interested in that one! But I seriously doubt you are one! You are a had working learner who will go to RU-vid to be sure you succeed. I am impressed by YOU!
man u deserve every good things i thank god for finding your channel i always thought math is not for me because i always get f now its so simple and smooth thank u sir you have changed my world of math
That is so great it helped you! It is amazing you go to this length for success and I applaud you so much for being someone who just has to learn! That is an awesome trait that will take you far in education and life. You know the thing that drives me crazy in the comments of this channel? SO many people tell me they have a test tomorrow or a quiz and they are so thankful they were able to use this to prepare. But they NEVER tell me how the quiz or test went! I really want to know! If you did well, awesome! If you didn't on one or more parts, why not? How did this not better prepare you? I could even make a follow up to help catch those mistakes for the next student. So, hint hint, let me know! :)
I literally have mastered this because of this video, I’ve been studying very hard and have been focused. I only have math to go for my ged, and it’s in three weeks. I’m so ready to take it.
I'm sure you passed so congrats! I'm working on my GED as well. I was at a point where I was just stumped in the work book I took home. This video helped out big time!
Thank you so much! This helped so much since my teacher always went through the problems and equations so fast. I always got scared during questions I didn't know but now I understand! THANKS
WOW this video helped me surely!!! I am watching this for the only purpose of studying, and how to solve the equations step by step with more than 1 variable!! I am entered in high school, and it is vital for me to know this!! THANKS FOR THE VIDEO MAN!!! 😄😀😆😅😇😎
You are welcome! I just want to say great job! Anytime you step out and try to find a way to understand on your own, you are showing your dedication to learning! Not everyone does that and if you continue this practice you will be very successful in high school and beyond!
I totally get it! Math can be like that! Until it clicks it seems like a foreign language. If you think about it, Math really is a new language. Give yourself credit when you figure out something new after trying many ways to help it click, and give yourself patience when you are still on the way to understanding. There is no such thing as a “math person” any more than there is a “Spanish person” or an “English person”. We just have to learn! Excited for your year and I hope you come back to my channel!
James Neal I know I'm a year late but I completely forgot how to do any of this over the summer (and partly didn't even understand some things) and then after watching this video I can comfortably do any equations with ease. THANK YOU!!!!
You made my day! Thank YOU for supporting my channel and me. This is a fun side project to bring good and help people with math. I only recently got the ability to be a partner so it really is a labor of love and not profit. I love so much the comments and knowledge that I can help. I hope you continue to find help in my videos. I plan to starting making and releasing new content with extra practice and companion lessons. Big dreams for this page hopefully! 😁
Just wanted to ask isn’t for 6x+9=3x-3 and the answer is x=4 and not x=-4 because u didn’t add the negative for the last step which it had to be -12/-3=4 but u forgot to add the -3 u had just put -12/3=-4. Just want to double check with you.
Hey! This is my personal account so I hope you still see this reply. When I subtracted 3x from both sides, I ended up having a positive 3x = -12 and that is because 6x - 3x is positive 3. So then -4 is correct Let me show you a little trick. Teachers are always on you about checking your answer. I know! We are annoying about that. The thing is, you really can use it to see if you made a mistake. In this case, if these equations are equal for a value, you should be able to plug it in on both sides and it should work. Let’s try the positive 4! 6(4) + 9 = 3(4) - 3 24 + 9 = 12 - 3 33 = 9 So this obviously isn’t true. The key here is we are solving for the ONE number that does work! Every other number won’t work. This is a rule for one variable equations like this. Let’s instead try that -4! 6(-4) + 9 = 3(-4) - 3 -24 + 9 = -12 - 3 -15 = -15 So that is the right answer. I hope this helps you beyond this question. Think of the power of knowing you are correct! It is a good feeling. Math often leaves us hoping we are correct when we turn in a test. Think also of multiple choice. I want my students to know how to solve the problems. But if stuck, of the four answers below on a MC question, we know one will work in plugged in! 😉 I really hope this helps and thank you for watching my videos. Every view, like, and subscribe means a lot to me. Have a great day!
I am still around in 2020 teaching so it all still applies! Math hasn’t changed much except the organization of the topics going on 15 years now! :) So glad it helped!
Hi. I am not entirely sure where these notes would be these days as I taught this many years ago. If you want to send me an email through here I can look around on the flash drives I have and see if I can track them down for you.
I don’t understand why you subtracted on problem 6) 3(2x-2) = 2(x+3) on step 2- -2x, on the other problems you used what the ever side you were eliminating, add or subtracting
Does it matter which of the variable expressions we subtract by on each side, or do we always end up with the same answer regardless which we subtract by?
Hi Ali! It does not matter which is subtracted for the answer to end up the same. However, if you follow my instructions then you deal with less negative coefficients during the process. My students always found it easier, though it is the same either way.
I truly feel like the nicest people on RU-vid find me! I always tell my students put good out into the world and good finds it’s way back to you! Thank YOU for being here and trying to better yourself!
Omfg I kept putting -3 when I combined 5x-2x for some reason and I kept getting it wrong and then I noticed.... why tf am I putting -3 when it’s just 5-2.... I’m dumb af
Hey! When solving two step equations you want to isolate the variable. This means to move all the constants (numbers with no x) to one side and the variable with coefficient (number in front of the x) to the other. Otherwise, you would have zero on one side and the other would still have both x and a constant.
Bro should get paid more for this because i have a test today and i did not know anything but this dude saved me thank you sir for saving me. I will update if i pass the exam
Please do! I hope it helps. Just remember that, if done correctly with this method, you should always end up with a positive coefficient in front of the variable. It can be fine with negative coefficients but if you can avoid them it removes one level of mistake students often make. Good luck Yuco
