👉 Learn how to solve rational equations. A rational expression is an expression in the form of a fraction where the numerator and/or the denominator are/is an algebraic expression. There are many ways to solve rational equations, one of the ways is by multiplying all the individual rational expressions by the lowest common multiply (LCM) of the denominators. This eliminates the denominators and then we can evaluate the resulting equation accordingly.
It is very helpful to check your results by substituting them into the original equation to see if they are true. This also helps to identify the extraneous solutions. An extraneous solution is a solution that is obtained during the course of solving an equation but which does not hold true for the original equation.

i hate how in schools nowadays we have everything on smart touch screen projectors. they are sooooo not helpful. first they hurt my eyes because the teachers give us h.w on computers and everything is on tech in our schools. we removed chalkboards. they were really helpful. aslo whiteboards are slowly getting removed. the way this guy did it on whiteboard really helped me. everyone learns differently. and limiting technology in classrooms will make us independent so we can actually use the little to no brains us humans have left.

I agree with much of this, I still believe technology has its place and use but we have to be careful

There is a much simpler way to solve this. It doesn't require a quadratic equation and doesn't generate any possibly extraneous solutions. 2 - 1/(x + 1) = 1/(x^2 + x). Move the rational expression on the left to the right. 2 = 1/(x + 1) + 1/(x^2 + x). Factor the rational expression on the far right. 2 = 1/(x + 1) + 1/[x(x + 1)]. Add the fractions on the right to get a single rational expression. 2 = (x + 1)/[x(x + 1)]. The factors of (x + 1) divide out leaving: 2 = 1/x. Multiplying both sides by the LCD gives: 2x = 1. Dividing both sides by two, x = 1/2. QED.

(2x+2-1):(x+1)=1:(x+1)x 2x+1=1/x 2x^2+x=1 2x^2+x-1=0 2x^2+2x-x-1 2x(x+1)-1(x+1) (2x-1)(x+1) x=1/2 dan x=-1
