I work overnights at a prison, and I love coming home, eating, showering and usually right about when I get in bed, a new Arty cast pops up, and I throw it on. Usually, I make it through the whole video, but sometimes I wake up and I’m deep in a rabbit hole of Starcraft or Warhammer lore because Autoplay went crazy. 😂
Nice. I don't even play anymore but I don't miss an artosis cast or a falcon paladin video. Falcon is way less technical and misses all kinds of important stuff, but I still watch all of his videos too.
It's insane how exciting a casual ladder match can be with Arty's commentary. I'm super hyped for the continuation of this kind of DIY serie. Well done Arty!
The series content is pretty sick, but I also thought it was really smart you are going to mix in other games for the “less invested”. StarCraft is in good hands. Also, I know you like hearing about how your casts fit into our days, I definitely watch the new matches in the morning before work and watch older matches when I go to bed. Absolutely the best way to start and finish a day
Having 2 little babies running around all day long, my favorite part of the day is laying in bed and finally having some Artosis cast to watch. Every day im wondering how the next game will be in these series.😊 Thanks so much Arty.
Last game, Soma made Zerg look overpowered, or at least, Polypoid look Z favoured in this matchup. In this game, Bisu really showed why he is the supreme master of PvZ. He truly understands PvZ concepts better than even other great players, and he demonstrated some of them in this game. 1: He expanded aggressively; as aggressively as possible without making himself vulnerable, and many Protoss players don't expand as much as they can, and get overwhelmed by Zerg later. Bisu is among the best at knowing how quickly he can expand, and pushing that to its limit. A classic mistake is to just attack off of two bases, when a third base is open to be taken. 2: He did hit and run skirmishes. Walk up to a lurker line, snipe some, then run away and do it again, possibly somewhere else. The ideal is to snipe with dragoons only. After that, one storm + one dragoon shot, and after that, double storm. This is good because the Protoss army can reposition to its optimal formation faster than Zerg. Zerg needs to set up lurkers, set up flanks, and also has more units in general, which makes moving the army around optimally difficult. Protoss can exploit that by always being on the move. Also, coming out of the fog of war unexpectedly has an innate attacker's advantage. A classic mistake is to over extend and stay in the same spot for too long, and to thus get swallowed by a flanking Zerg who was allowed the time needed to set up his whole army against the Protoss, *or*, Protoss runs out of storm to a skirmishing Zerg who is constantly baiting out storms, dodging them, sniping units, and sending in just enough units to force storm usage, but not everything at once since that gives too much value to each storm (especially if units are clumped up on top of lurkers). Know when to siege, and know when to manoeuvre.
8:40 Moved out thinking the armor upgrade will finish in time, but opponent was farther out on the map than he was expecting. If he had already +1 here who knows how the rest wouldve turned out
Hi Artosis, I am a huge fan of your work. The reason why I think the other series was more exciting was we got to see some cheese and quick games that we don't usually see. It would be interesting to see sometimes those mixed in and how the pros handle it. I think that is why the other series did so well. Keep on casting you are awesome.
I personally really enjoy those ladder series they’re incredibly entertaining and RT happens to be the first i look forward to in the morning everyday i wake up ! I’ve been watching since RT since 2010 and to this day you’re still my favorite caster.
Hi Artosis, chiming in to say how much I enjoy watching these each day. You do a great job making it all comprehensible. One suggestion I would have would be to put a “Z” or “P” above the players’ names in the bottom right. It’s easy for me to forget which player is which. Small thing and probably just a me problem!
I liked the muta dive on the high templars, not like they would be useful against so much static defense and goon heavy armies. Also cool to see Soma get the slower to withdraw templars. Good thing Bisu had infinite gas due to securing so many expansions. Lack of hive tech hurt
Soma is so sick dude. It’s really cool to see how divergent in play style all the major zergs are but he just seems like he’s always got just a little more stuff or is just a little faster in getting out his important units. Those things matter so much when your peers are also so good.
I'll ask as advised before. I don't understand, why soma chose not to go hive and stay on lair tech in this game. Does that have to do something with the 3rd being so quick so Soma tried to counterpressure and "punish" only 6 gates? Before he went hive and it was much better for him. Generally I don't understand ZvP past the opening - number of gates related to expansion timings and 5hatch/6 hatch counter pressure. Do you have better insight?
Bisu was to strong. its not just hive, you need defiler mound and upgrades as well as adrenal glands which means a lot less hydras. if he had less hydras he wouldnt have been able to hold any of Bisu attacks. Soma was banking on getting good storm dodges and reducing the protoss army efficiently to give him the breathing room to go hive. The storms were way to good though so it didnt pan out and Soma lost. If he coulda secured a 4th gas he would have been in a better spot but with Bisu map presence he felt he couldnt hold top right so went for a sneaky base which would have fueled his hive tech. but it was found and destroyed.
@@sebastiantru4702 Would you say it had something to do with the muta choice? Is that a general rule that if you go mutas, you stay longer on lair tech to compesate for the gas spent? And if you don't do enough damage with mutas, you are just behind?
I loved the last series. It was really awesome to see the changes each player was making during those 14 games. I hope we see similar in this series. This series is off to a good start!
That outswarm at 17:00 really show how dangerous is attacking into zerg main hive cluster. in few seconds orange zerg suddenly tripled number of defenders he had. That felt almost like scripted campaign trigger that's meant to force reload on player. Had Protoss stayed in that fight he would lost entire match.
One question I have is you mention everything does "full damage" against shields. Is that because protoss rarely get upgrades for shields? Or do shields take damage differently than HP?
One question I can’t recall you addressing in all of your ASL/GSL casts, why are 3 and 4 player maps more viable in BW than in SC2? I enjoy the dice roll aspect that early scouting your opponent’s base location brings to BW. Thanks!
Hey Artosis, I had a question about the usage of queens and why we don't see ensnare we used more often in ZvP. Granted, I'm a lowly D rank player but i feel like the movement and attack speed reduction can be pretty huge in catching grouped corsairs or ground armies that are out of position. And you're going to build a queen's nest anyway, so the cost is 100/100 for the queen and 100/100 for ensnare. Would love to hear your thoughts on this
Ensnare is good. It just a matter of using it while doing everything else that needs to be done : moving your army around, dodging storms, flanking, counterattacking, macroing, splitting your Lurkers, keep up with upgrades, and so on. In that list, casting ensnare gets low priority. It is an APM cap.
would've worked really well against the retreating dragoons. i think with all units it's just a matter of times before they get adopted, that's the trend of broodwar. nobody was using queens ZvT in 2010, now they are, nobody was using valks TvZ in 2010, now they are. so we just have to wait a bit until we see ensnare being used
Feels like the Zerg was switched out with Artosis XD Last game he slayed Bisu, this game even though the start extremely well held from zerg its not even close as to how well he played in the last match. Are these game in chronological order? I know theyre not played in a row or within a few days, so that explains the huge performance diff. but holy hell its day and night in between the last three games.
Beautiful PvZ game. You can see the big difference between this game and game 2. Key difference being that Soma's investment in Mutas and Scourge didn't do enough damage and thus he couldn't commit/tech up to defilers quickly like he did in game 2.
Hey Artie, last vid i kept thinking about why don't zerg players go spore colonies versus corsair/dt. Their range, damage and detection makes them seem like a good choice for corsair/dt. Is it cus they are too costly?
What would happen if Bisu would not invest in Corsairs in this game? He didn't hunt down the overlords. Scourges+Mutas were pushing him whenever he tried to move out somewhere. Would that change Zerg tactics somehow? I get it that he would have harass zealots more, but then the gas could be spent more on Archons.
It is not my intent to spam, but I left the same comment on your previous video: How do these guys get so high on the APM right at the start of the game? What's the point when all you have is 5 workers?
So easy for Bisu vs mass hydras with 5 bases and with 4 gasses.. The worst style of Z play for Protoss is when he just takes bases, makes defence and goes fast defiler. Controlling army of defiler, lings, lulkers is much harder than controlling mass hydra, but also much more powerful..
Honest question: as someone who has literally only played fastest, zc, and ums maps is the learning curve to play regular old starcraft high? Lol like am I likely to get murdered the entire time with the pool of players that still play?
Excellent game from both players. Love to watch those big macro games bloodbaths. I thought Soma was going to win the game as wave after wave of hydras came down the map. But... most excellent tactical retreat-regroup-reattack from Bisu. Soma did not counter the storms with dark swarms.
