In 2019 i travelled to Somalia in the heart of Mogadishu, I embarked on a journey to witness the resilience of a city that had once been torn apart by war. As I walked through the bustling streets, I was struck by the sight of people going about their daily lives with a sense of peace and hope that was palpable in the air.
I captured moments of laughter and joy as children played in the streets, while adults engaged in lively conversations at local cafes. Everywhere I looked, there were signs of progress and rebuilding - from new infrastructure to vibrant markets brimming with fresh produce.
But what struck me the most was the sense of unity and community among the people. Despite the scars of war that still lingered, there was a collective determination to move forward and build a better future for generations to come.
Through my lens, I documented the stories of resilience and hope that echoed through the streets of Mogadishu. It was a testament to the human spirit and a reminder that even in the face of adversity, peace is possible.
As I bid farewell to this resilient city, I left with a renewed sense of optimism and a deep appreciation for the strength of the human spirit. Somalia may have faced its share of challenges, but its people have shown that peace is not just a dream - it is a reality worth fighting for.
