Some Bad News And Back To The Drawing Board On The Battery Box

First off, it's nice to be back from France. Theres so much to do and i'm eager to get going!!
We do have some bad news to tell you. My camper van is not very well and she's struggling to tow. Her automatic transmission fluid is overheating and I need to fit a cooler, chnge the oil and also add in a thermostat to ensure she can tow Lulu without worrying once again.
Unfrotunately this means we'll be missing the Ullswater trip, but there's always next year.
Anyway with the battery box in bits, corroded by sea water, we have to go back to the drawing board and this is the beginnings of Battery box MK2!!!

great episode welcome back. shame about the van , they always throw spanners into the plans. great idea abouthe battery box, im ordering stuff for Aquila now for all the kit that needs to be wired and extra toys that i want to add, so this will be interesting to follow. sent a few emails since our last convo

Yes I think this is going to be a much better version, with lots oif experience and failures to feed back into it!!

i used to tow a 4 wheel caravan with an auto. on long hills ,I just stuck box into manual. cant you do that on your van?

So with the T4 auto box, I am pretty sure that the manual selction for the gears simply tells it to not go into a higher gear. It still means that in each gear she will go into a "slip" mode and not "Lock" into gear. This is the issue as its this slip mode that overheats the gearbox. If those 3 positions "Locked" her into gear then it would technically work, although she goes into slip mode if she starts to struggle with the hill. Since this video I have actually replaced the transmission fluid and added in a transmission cooler and thermostat. So far so good but I ended up putting a new towbar on the car so I am now able to go away and not have to worry. I'll miss the van for lonbger trips but I think she just has to work too hard towing the Lugger.
