For the people with room temperature IQs, I don't dislike like Colby because I'm offended by his political opinions or edgy insults. I just find his persona forced, and it's not helped by the fact that he can't put two sentences together without stumbling over one of his prepared lines. He also lacks the natural charisma and gift of gab that a guy like Chael Sonnen had.
@@BeigeFrequency I keep looking at my subscription feed for the 2nd part of the Jon Jones series. I even do math in my head, "ok if he posts ever 2-3 weeks a video of that length and magnitude should be done in x amount of weeks" really looking forward to it. I know what happens and I'm still excited!
@@BeigeFrequency Not for nothing, I really enjoy these post card discussions. While the editing and painting probably eat up a good amount of your time, I and I'm sure others would still tune in to a simple audio version with a static background. Thanks for the content 👍
C'mon those in the know knew Jorge's and nates level that's why the fight where he landed that knee was so interesting those in the know wanted to see if Jorge manages to put it all together but the fight ended to quick the same thing with Usman but he just proved us right in this fight that he is not at the level people thought he is a killer but no where near the top guys
Youre forgetting when he caught lighting in a bottle the first time. When he smoked Cowboy who was #4 at WW and was a cusp of a title shot and Masvidal fought him. Cowboy had just come off a tough fight against Matt Brown were he was dropped and only fought a month later.
Lighting in a bottle is not knocking out a Darren till that was only off one lose. The Ben askren ko was prepared and drilled in the gym. Nate Diaz is not a easy go for anybody on the feet Masvidal didn't catch lighting in a bottle. He's a very skilled fighter and belongs in the ufc. His wrestling has always been his weakness. To say he's just a lucky fighter cause he lost to a wrestler is just far fetched my guy. Dude can mix it up with the best of them. Wonderboy a tricky mothafucka regardless
@@tristhekid I have seen tons of people calling Colby a bitch who just laid on masvidal constantly lmao, it’s such a funny cope because you can find so many times where Colby is raining down elbows or other strikes. Or just look at the statistics
"Dollar Store Chael" is always how I've viewed Covington myself, but I do admire his fearlessness in antagonizing his enemies on camera. Infinitely more interesting then the MMA character creator default slider "humble/slow company man".
I personally don't really see him being similar to Chael. Cheal was more trash talking to outsmart his opponents (whether that be his opponent in the octagon or an interviewer) and make them look stupid. Colby on the other hand is trolling hard and indiscriminately. Nothing and no-one other than Trump is save. Kinda like Connor trash talking if Connor was self aware and funny.
@@floatinggoose9197 yhea so. Using someone's line doesn't mean he is copying Chael it just meens he likes those lines. Chael was never as personal as Colby. The lines might be the same but the character and delivery is different.
never worry that its too late. you could recap UFC 100 and I'd eat it up. Honestly I think a video about the early UFCs (like 1 thru 10 or 12) with your writing style would be hilarious and do well. Regardless, more beige is always better
1:20 'How much does masvidal have in the tank?..' 'the answer is, no' I know Beige was answering the question he asked immediately after the first question, but I also feel that is the best answer to the first question
I had it 50-44 with some real consideration taking place to the 10-8 in Round 3 to make it 50-43. You absolutely nailed it in this breakdown. This was complete domination.
@@cucumber42 Huh? You’re kidding, right?! How exactly would you get Masvidal winning any rounds on my card with it scored 50-44 or even 50-43? Do you understand what these numbers indicate? It means I had him winning every round with Round 5 being a 10-8 round…and I seriously considered giving Colby the 10-8 nod in Round 3 as well. So, therefore, Rounds 1, 2 & 4 would be 10-9 for Colby.
I actually like Colby for his cringe persona. He knew his back was against a wall, and Dana wanted more dancing clowns like Conor, and everyone knows he's doing what he has to do. He also has the incredible skill to back up whatever. It was a lukewarm fight because it's just for the Best Fighter That Can't Beat Kamaru, but I honestly don't think either of them hated eachother or really gave a shit about any sort of beef. Colby is in the cream of division, Jorge is in the Diaz's sideshow-but-main-event-popularity vein, and the UFC is sucking wind for big drawing acts once Conor imploded.
I like Colby's gimmick too. Before I knew it was a gimmick I thought the guy was a dick but now I know it's a work I think of him like wrestlers.i hated when I was 8..they weren't really like the way were on TV but now I know it's all fake and can appreciate how it made me feel and wanted to see what happened next. The guy makes you want to tune In next week
Perhaps Greg Hardy has been given a prominent place on so many big PPV's because the UFC knows many fans (including myself) enjoy watching him get finished. And given his lack of talent, there's a pretty decent chance of that happening every time he fights.
I wonder how UFC felt Sunday morning after having signed Jorge to one of the largest contracts in UFC history. He didn’t look great and I can’t imagine he’ll be the draw they think he’s going to be going forward. It was an oddly timed move in my opinion.
Agreed, however I think it's likely that George insisted on a contract as leverage prior to accepting the Colby fight (you could even argue because he knew what was going to happen in the fight). Being able to book the Colby vs George fight alone would have made it financially worth while for the UFC. You have to remember how much sheer profit the UFC is making per card relative to how much the fighters are receiving (actually pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things)
@@Catonius That's another good point made, the UFC are in the unique position of having multiple options to utilise a fighter's value. Whether they end up being a high level fighter for the championship, an exciting fighter, a good promo fighter, or a fighter to help build the next generation off a well-known name
Jorge has a huge problem he developed after that askren win, that went along with his persona. He doesn't just wanna win, he wants to look good doing it. There's zero sense of urgency or frantic movement getting the out of the way of shots or takedowns. Looking nonplussed is never a path to victory. If you want a good example, check out conor with his back against the cage in his 2nd dustin fight. He thought he could casually slip punches instead of getting the hell out of dodge.
you believing Masvidal would have a modicum of success is a very casual take. What were you basing that on? 3 "wins" where he beat "I always show up for my check" Diaz? or the guy who could barely cut weight to make the limit without dying? or the one which technically wasnt a fight (just him denying paying customers a contest by opening with a flying knee and it actually working because Ben Askren)?
you’ve really carved out the perfect niche i think . you make spectacular experiences of youtube videos about what ever you are going to make. it’s really inspiring and really awesome to be able to watch. you e figured out long form discussion and your scripts are top notch. please don’t stop expanding and growing, much love and take care
yo i noticed you did videos on some stand up comedians specials like brendan and chris and you didn't like them, what do you think of bobby Lee and joey Diaz, there stand up and there podcasts
Beige , I think you are a very talented documentarian. Four hours plus devoted to creating a film on Anthony Cumia, I just think you are above that, but after seeing it I can only derive that you are obsessed with the former Long Island jock.
@@BeigeFrequency that's fair enough. If you have time in the future, or even a one off on a big card you are interested in. It would be nice to have an off the cuff prediction/expectation video. Maybe even draw how you see a big fight ending 😂
I don't think Masvidal looked "old," I think he is the same fighter he's always been. He is a good, tricky striker with rudimentary grappling skills, who was catapulted to success by a killer instinct with couple of high-profile knockouts and memorable soundbites. The KO's of Till and Askren were brilliant, but there was nothing about those fights that showed he was the best in the world -- only that he was an exciting and unpredictable fighter to watch. One thing I couldn't help thinking about after the fight was how there's a class of elite strikers in MMA who complain about wrestlers as a way of distracting from their own deficiencies. Much like McGregor, I think Masvidal's reign is over. Neither is going to be a legitimate title contender moving forward. They should both continue to fight favorable and fun match-ups.
Yeah they are both over for sure. But both for different reasons and after different careers. McGregor success defeated him. Jorge is bang avaerage and had a bang average career
@@userunknown3761 like It or not, McGregor’s title run at FW was one of the greatest title runs the sport has ever seen. His troubles started when he started moving up in weight.
1:05 Rare, but not by design. I heard a few people mention it being a PPV not headlined by a title fight, but it wasn't the intention of the UFC. Volkanovski vs Holloway 3 and Sterling vs Yan 2 were supposed to be headlining the card. When those fights had to be moved, the Covington vs Masvidal fight became the headliner. McGregor is the only fighter in recent years who's headlined numbered cards by design. Even that BMF belt was created because the actual title fight fell off the card. The initial plan didn't include that fake belt and Masvidal vs Diaz as main event.
Beige frequency I find a FEW of your opinions to be kinda stupid in all honesty. You make great films, but SOMETIMES it’s like listening to someone who just started a new hobby or a sport and that person being surrounded by that sport their whole lives, just not totally geeked out about it well all of a sudden starts to take the time and energy and falls for the sport, hobby, topic, drama involved in whatever topic it is you recently got hooked on too. Example. Your comedy knowledge run laps over your MMA knowledge and I know you addressed it in your comment, but colby is a good dude he’s playing a goofy fucking character use Google trends to see how big he got once he did the Brazil promo. He was a tiny dot throughout his whole career and then before he was gonna get cut and won and he cut the Brazil promo his stat line went to the moon and stayed extremely high,And here’s the problem he’s a soc major so he’s smarter then he looks, he’s an absolutely amazing fighter and not only that people wanna see him go to sleep not fight like a warrior with the p4p greatest with a broken jaw people wanna see him get done like Usman did Masvidal people wanna see him lights out falling off the stool, and until that day happens he’s a top 5 WW fighter of all time and who knows maybe ir does happen and he’s goes on a complete revenge tear every fight has been a high pressure personal fight for him where it starts outside the cage and has history but in todays modern sport its a whole new game, and I think he may finish his career A top 5 WW. I was so confident on Covington I placed a 6,000 bet the fight would go 5 rounds. Also think about Jorge’s punch he hit colby with one of his hardest punches he ever threw in the absolute most perfect spot and colby was back up on his feet in under a second he hit him I thought it was gonna be a murderous KO and I blink my eyes and Colby’s already up and it showed in masvidals eyes and it was like his soul was beaten out of him even though he had a fairly good opportunity. Anyways you’re mma content keeps getting better and better and I hope you continue to make those long docs. IMO Jorge is the cocky one colby is the quiet soft spoken one when it’s behind the scenes. People forget prizefighting is show business it’s been like that for over a 100 years.
I would like to see Jorge rematch Wonderboy. They both deserve a good retirement fight. It would give Jorge the opportunity to vindicate his loss, and Wonderboy's been a company man for a long time, and deserves a paycheck, as well as a good W to close out his career. Also I'm a room temperature IQ Colby fan, and think the winner of Muhammad vs Luque makes perfect sense for him. Covington vs Luque would be a great fight.
RDA vs Moicano being 5 rounds was insane. Even before the fight happened I was like "why the fuck would they do that?" And then the fight was a worst case scenario
I like Masvidal because he is a street brawler. With that said, he is no where near as good as Colby. Colby is one of the best in the sport. Jorge just can’t match.
To call Colby a “Dollar Store Chael” is the most incel comment ever. Colby has generated more heat than Chael ever did and he has undoubtedly more success in the UFC
@@troutsy6897 Chael’s career record in the UFC is 7-7 Colby’s record is 12-3 I’m assuming that you dislike Colby more than you dislike Chael, like most people do So LOL away dummy
Jorge could do a main event of a fight night or co-main a PPV, or he can go the route like Andrei Arlovski has. Either way I would still like to watch him fight, when he is on Jorge is a killer, I can’t say if it’s the high skilled competition he’s faced in his last fights or the hype and fame got to his head but I would really like to see Jorge have a bounce back
Interesting fact about Masvidals headline fights in recent years. He wasn't initially scheduled to headline 272 against Colby or the BMF fight against Diaz. Jorge and Diaz were going to fight as co-main with no belt, but the real title fight fell off the card and they decided to make the BMF belt because it became main event. And 272 was supposed to have Volk vs Holloway 3 and Sterling vs Yan 2, but they fell apart and the Covington vs Masvidal fight replaced as main event. The only numberd cards in recent years created with non title fights by design have been McGregor cards.
Hey Beige what would you think of Masvidal vs Wonderboy 2 might be a good chance to get two older fighter some shine. This isn’t a money fight but it would be for the hardcore sports
I think it's ok to acknowledge that at this level, any of these guys are capable of ending the others night, but hoping someone wins, and thinking Jorge is a more skilled or prepared fighter than colby is stretchin it.
Masvidal is 37. When you’re that age, people can fall of overnight. I don’t think Masvidal is washed or anything, but Usman knocked him the fuck out after dominating him a year prior. Call a spade a spade- Colby likes sloppy seconds, just like the Tyron Woodley fight.
@@heisensperg9264 well he lost plain and simple. And just like what he did after losing the first time, his immediate next move was to target the highest ranked guy he could get coming off consecutive losses, which just so happened to be another 37 year old that Usman dominated first. Colby called Usman’s (short notice) win over Demian Maia his sloppy seconds- let’s be objective and “keep the same energy”.
@@sochioranmyaku He only lost technically lol anyone with eyes can see that fight was a draw I love how Colby detractors can't give him any credit at all I'm not a big Usman fan but he's a great fighter with a very good resume
I think Mark Goddard was looking for any reason to stop the RDA fight. The fighter won't quit, their corner won't throw in the towel, the doctor won't stop it, and nothing "bad enough" is happening on your end to call it off as a TKO. Mark is one of the best, and I think he was really trying.
Great vid Beige! Did you check out Eagle FC 46 over the week? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the event as a whole, but mostly the Lee - Sanchez main event as well as the "commentary" from Triple C
Because MMA is a blood sport. It's promoted as it. They tell fighters to not stop pounding someones skull in until the ref pulls them off. But they also get upset if you talk poorly about your family or kids? This is society.
The beginning of the build up to this fight was when I first actually watched some of Colby's interviews and yeah, I was not impressed. Prime McGregor, Sonnen and Bisping had their honest moments here and there (or the shit talk had some truth to it) and it was fairly clear when they were bullshitting or not. Colby, on the other hand, just says the most outlandish, disrespectful shit at all times and being that there's likely 0 truth to it, it's meaningless, boring and worthy of being entirely ignored. It's astonishing so many people buy into it.
If you listened to Greg hardys interview (mma hour) before his first ufc fight, the impression he gave was like he was doing this as punishment. It was really weird. Thanks beige, quality content as usual 👌.
Hey, you ever thought of doing collaboration with TheWeasle for MMA analysis? I don't know if he'd do it or anything but it'd almost be like he was a play to play guy with you being the colour personality.
Jorge was having some success early on, but all it took was one takedown from Colby to make Jorge lose all his confidence. He stopped throwing any kicks and dramatically lowered his output. From there on Colby just outworked him. The real sour note is how much of a sore loser Jorge is being.
I've fought a fair bit, the idea of having a coach or someone stop the fight when I want to continue is wrong. I'm taking the punches, if I want to continue then I can. Just because you don't like combat doesn't mean I can't fight. Ali Vs foreman, gotta stop the fight Ali just getting beaten up .. not like that was his plan.
As a physician, the fight doctors the UFC uses are a complete embarrassment. Literally a joke......we (doctors) all laugh about the shit-show every time they head into the ring. If a ref is incapable of determining if a fighter is alert and oriented to person, place, time, and situation.....he shouldn’t be a ref. Joint instability is COMPLETELY up to the fighter. Torn knee ligaments cannot end a fight, unless the fighter wants it. The cuts extending into the eyelid.....again, if you have eyeballs, you can see it, and already know where eyelid skin starts and stops. A physician should always be present, but only for severe injury or prolonged loss of consciousness.....to stabilize the situation until EMTs get in the octagon, and can take them to the hospital. EVERYTHING else should be up to the ref.
I don’t know how I would feel exactly if I found out my trusted doctor/physician’s RU-vid name was “doodoo poop” lmao. I’m not exactly talking shit dude (no pun intended) but I just had to get this observation out there
@@raywhite6258 I don’t know if I could trust ANY professional who had the youtube handle of Dr. First Name Last Name, MD. I can speak freely as Dr. Doodoo Poop.
always happy to see a beige upload... respect big homie..and yes the conspiracy is straight insanity..and funny enough they all act like the people who believe its real have a "low iq"
say what you will about Colby he's clearly a talented fighter and took the steps necessary to save his career. Masvidal on the other hand is terrible at MMA and used his mouth to create a persona his 25-19 record didn't deserve. He just isn't very good, never has been.
Jalin turner was my favourite part of the night absolutely insane performance, I love strikers who are able to calmly pick apart their opponents like that
Not the worst card I just could not believe all the people that were picking Jorge to win. The bias towards Colby was crazy. Colby dominated the whole fight. Jorge looked exhausted after the fight. He looked foolish hanging on to 2 security guards and acting like he wanted more. Go Colby.
What you said about the RDA/Moicano fight was spot on dude. I’m also a Goddard fan, but I think the fact he never stopped the fight was disappointing. Not as disappointing as the doctor though. I feel it’s all too common nowadays with all the eyes on and vested interest in the sport that fighters are being put into dangerous positions for their long term health for sake of letting a fight continue. The flip side though is refs not wanting to get the Cruz treatment after a fight when a fighter is sour about a stoppage. That’s where in situations like this, Kattar, etc, we need the doctors to step up and shoulder some of that burden on making the best decision for the fighters health.
