I think you should read up on Long Covid and chronic pulmonary dysfunction caused by Covid. It's a real thing. The lungs can be permanently damaged. Seems like you just decided to blame Khamzat for training too hard. Don't forget that training and mentality is what got him to the top. Of course he can't let it go.

I don't understand why people act surprised when we are all familiar with Khamzat's obsessive training regimen and what seems to be his coaches' incompetence in stopping him from training excessively. Of course he catches colds very easily and of course he got anihilated by covid - his immune system is battling to recover from one grueling training session after another.
If anything, this says something about how scary and brutal Covid can be. Some of the strongest guys get hit very hard by it and get diffuse chronic problems that seem to never end.

If you're over-training consistently, even and especially when you're feeling run-down, then you're going to find that your immune system is going to be compromised. Couple that with crash dieting and dehydrating to make weight and, well, this isn't rocket science. The guy is an idiot. He's more concerned about his tough guy image than actually doing the sensible work needed to keep himself in top condition. That said, even if he did get his health and training under control, I don't think he was ever quite as talented as he was hyped to be. A top contender in the division, for sure, but he showed that he comes up short in the cardio department against top-tier talent. Couple that to his fairly poor fight IQ, and you have a top 5, maybe top 3 fighter, but it's unlikely that would ever be able to capture it in the first place, let alone defend it multiple times.
