It is ridiculous. I was in Massachusetts's foster program in the mid 1980's. My foster parents were Catholic. I turned out OK. They just you are mixed some kid's minds, which is crazy. Keep fighting. I am praying for you and your family.

If you literally tell the people coordinating adoption, that you not going to love your child unconditionally, it’s obvious that you’re not deserve adopting a child period.

Yet they DID say that they would love any child unconditionally.

@@scragsma kids need support not preaching if the couple accepts that their kid could be LGBTQ and they need to acceptance. In my opinion kids are more important than religious beliefs so if can see past their religious beliefs then sure.

I hope you continue with your lawsuit based on the issue. But, hope you realize, even if they are forced to license you, it doesn't mean they will place a child/children with you.

Do they want to foster with the acknowledgement and intent to treat any child under their care like the living individuals they are, and let them grow into their own selves? Do they intend to give them freedom to choose their own religious/sexual beliefs, free of fear and guilt? If not, then they don't deserve to be parents. Kids don't need to feel worse than they already likely do because you adopt them under the pretense of love and care, and then turn on them if they decide not to follow your religious practices and views. They're living beings, not brownie points for people who could be likened to cultists. Not saying all Catholics are buuut as someone who used to be Catholic I knew many who were.

But they DO intend to give the kids freedom to become their own religious/sexual selves.

They say they do, but it's easy to say anything before you're challenged to act accordingly. Kids are easy to mold when they're young but what about when they get old enough to question things. Would these parents *really* respect them? It's easy to wonder @@scragsma

I understand this feels like discrimination but the point is they will not be your children. Your job is to provide a safe environment, not to evangelize the kids. They may only be 3-6 years old but they may have queer siblings or loved ones theyve been separated from and its not fair for them to be told their loved ones are going to hell when theyve already been traumatized. It is your job to simply love them and keep them safe. They would have denied you for not agreeing with a “black lifestyle” or “disabled lifestyle” or something else fundamentally unchanging about a person. Also, i worked in daycare for a decade and i did meet one trans 5 year old who knew. So its not impossible for that foster child to know theyre queer yet either. I truly hope you open your heart as Jesus did and see that you are meant to love your neighbor as they are without judgement. The rest of the situation is simply between them and God and none of your business. 🙏

I think it’s weird to assume that this particular couple would shove anything down anyone’s throat. People can have differing views and still provide a safe, loving environment. This is already assuming that the “fictional” kids are lgbtq-affirming. The state could theoretically partner children that have similar ideologies with the foster parents. However, they don’t want to do that.

So if the child who has a sibling who's a career criminal, unrepentant thief, and this couple says that said sibling is going to hell for theft--is that "not fair" to be told?
@kellym.7113

It would be inappropriate to tell a traumatized child a loved one is going to hell, period. It would be especially cruel to tell them that for something about a person that they can’t control, like their race or gender or sexual orientation.
@pablononescobar
@pablononescobar 5 месяцев назад
@@kellym.7113 No, it would not be inappropriate, quite the opposite. Unpleasant truths are still truths. Like the truth that sexual behavior is well within an individual's control, regardless of underlying inclinations (not all heterosexual people are in practice sexually active, for example in respect of religious teaching). And all that is besides the point in this legal case--the government cannot discriminate against people on account of their religion, period.

@@kellym.7113I’m pretty sure telling someone they can’t control their gender is hateful now. I don’t care. But that’s what some people believe now.

I adopted my son two years ago. He was the exception to the rule as they skipped licensing due to his time nearly to age out of the system. Otherwise you have to be foster licensed first before you can adopt. I am single and adopted in Indiana -- sounds to me that Mass (I did live there once) needs to get with the times. If a conservative state like mine can accept singles and people of any other orientation -- so long as the home is good, and safe, a more "progressive" state should be able to as well.
