There's no shame in going to see a therapist for your mental health, man. Even if it's for a few sessions. Dan you're not being pathetic. I strongly urge you go see someone about your anxiety.

100% right! There's nothing wrong seeing a therapist about any struggle in life. Therapist will help understand why and were your anxiety is coming from and teach how you can walk yourself out of that storm going inside.

The phrase "Do it with Dan" feels personal and special because of videos like this. You are so genuine and open and that makes it feel like we are truly doing it with dan and that is something special. You are unapologetically yourself and that is what keeps me watching, not the amount of content but the quality. And I feel you on health insurance right now, I have a bone marrow edema in my knee that affects how I go through daily activities at times and they don't want to cover gel shots for it, because they usually only cover it when you have arthritis, unfortunately. But I am thankful that I can still walk and still function well with the hopes that I can get the gel shots at some point.

Man.. about 5 years ago your bike videos helped me get through a super hard anxiety period ( very similar to how you described yours, I would have the same thoughts, fears, googling didn’t help etc ) and your videos helped me want to do something with my depressed life at the time.. a motorcycle license. Actually got that !! :D and started riding and just wanted to thank you for that and now to see all of a sudden you talk about anxiety and how it prevents you from doing the stuff you love… man I FELT THAT. It just goes to show it can happen to anyone and I am so glad you spoke about this and you were open about what you’re going through… it’s just amazing and thank you for that again… just know that it gets better and you don’t need to fight anixety all the time, you know how it goes, what you ressist - persists. Just know that there is nothing wrong with you and anxiety messes primarily with your head and you might just be over sensitive to certain feelings but once you realise it’s just anixety and in itself can’t harm you, it will gradually go away. You got this my man, greeting from Romania and big respect for talking about mental health. So happy for your ankle too :)

Dude I feel you, I've been working from home since covid and feel isolated. Now I'm uncomfortable in certain situations and like overstimulated by loud public places because I'm always home. There's a lot of good articles a lot of people go through the same thing and it's not abnormal. Talking to people definitely helps

Dan, I really feel you on the anxiety and health issues. I had covid at the beginning of 2021, took me a few weeks to get over but I was good. For about 6 months I was doing great, hitting PR's at the gym and feeling good. Then around august I got sick and Im not talking about the sniffles, it put me out for like 2 weeks solid, got over that and got sick again less than a month later. I ended up sick about like 4 times and every time I tested negative for covid, strep, and flu. I was getting really anxious about that maybe covid destroyed my immune system. Well I finally went about a month without being sick, back at the gym and getting back to normal. Then a wave of exhaustion hit me like a ton of bricks, took a break from the gym for a few days, went back and same thing, and again... Got really anxious and went to the doc again, negative for strep, covid, and flu. So I requested blood work, thinking maybe I've become anemic. My doc wanted to do an ekg, after that she immediately set me up with a cardiologist for more tests. Apparently I have a heart murmur/irregular heartbeat and she told me specifically no gym and she was worried that maybe covid had affected my heart. So now Im getting all kinds of anxiety and it affects my appetite and energy (not good because I get low blood sugar and have to stay on top of eating), I take naps now which is something I never did or needed, and every little pinch or pain I feel makes me think I got a blood clot or gonna have a heart attack or some bs. Anyways, I dont know why I typed this for everyone to see and possibly you Dan, but I guess hearing you talk about your anxiety and feeling like hypochondriac really resonated with me, especially since we are the same age. Merry Christmas everyone, I know I'm looking forward to having all of my family together.

Dealing with chronic panic and anxiety is something that I had to go through. I used to watch your build videos when I needed to calm down. It kept me from doing anything productive for almost 2 years. (The Anxiety). The good news is it's basically all in your head. Train your mind to feel the way you do when you feel normal. Realize that you ARE OKAY and over time you will reprogram the way that your brain is reacting. Once you go through what your going through and get out of it, you will be much stronger than before

Idk why I frown upon talking to a therapist it may be beneficial but idk I’ve always just saw it like that. Anxiety sneaks up on you and if you ignore it next thing you know it gets out of control and you’re not doing anything that you used to enjoy doing I’ve isolated myself from pretty much everyone and I see it’s not healthy. Dude what you're going through is so normal. A lot of therapists see people towards the end of their healing process of a major injury. You didn't realize what you were doing but when you would talk to us about your ankle, it was therapy for you because (and you probably didn't realize this) but you were/are depressed and it's totally normal. What's not normal is not doing anything about it, especially when you're having panic attacks and anxiety. I suffer from both, and I hope you read this Dan. But you're the reason why I will go see a therapist if I'm feeling that "off" feeling, you all know what I'm talking about. A few years ago I left the medical examiner's office after spending 15 years doing autopsies (family business started very young, too young). I came to your channel and I talked mad shit about you and you went the fuck off on me and told me to "seek therapy because you're a miserable fuck and are going to get yourself or someone else killed." I will never forget those words. I went to see a therapist because it's not a normal job I had seeing some of the worst mankind has to offer and all of a sudden I'm not in my comfort zone and I don't know what to do with my life. Anxiety can and it did control my life, my doctor gave me the proper medication to get it under control...I just need to start working out and eating better. You're Dan, you're going to get through this and I can't wait to see your future content. You're a member of this household, we watch your videos and we're in our 30's lol. You have a Merry Christmas, you and your family because that's what important, family, in a non-fast and furious way.

completely understand the mental fog. Ive had it for the past 4 months or so where it isn't always there but can make it almost impossible to focus on anything, ive had to cut back on college, work and physical activity. I still have no clue what it is, I have gone through blood draws, eliminating gluten etc. Seeing a neurologist next month as well. Never had covid. Hope anyone else with this issue that has figured out what it is can help. Hope you end up doing better dan and I get how you feel where you feel like its not bad enough to be worried about because others have it worse.

One of the best things you can do for your brain is physical exercise. If you can't focus on school/books/projects/whatever then just take a little time to go for a walk or do some pushups. It's annoying as hell, but there's a lot of data to back it up. I felt foggy and slow in the spring to the point where I thought there was something wrong with my brain. Stress, inactivity, and lack of socialization got to me in the end. Once I started dealing with those I started getting better. Keep your head up bro.

Happy to see you are doing so good, It could have been alot worse. I broke my ankle and shattered my heel in sept 2019 they did not want to do a surgery because they knew how rough it was going to be rough and a long recovery. Well I had my surgery almost 4 month's ago and don't know how much it helped yet. I am 51 now and I go back to the doc at the end of Jan. if I am not better the only thing they can do now is fuse my ankle so it can't move. I guess I am lucky to be alive I had 2 slabs of granite 6 foot by 10 foot fall onto me while we were unloading it. So be grateful for what you have in life it could be worse

I made it 5 minutes into this where you were talking about your anxiety. We are very kindred spirits in the sense that we both have ADHD and high anxiety. The thing is though that once I got on ADHD meds, the anxiety all but went away. Not sure if you’re taking anything for it but if not, I highly recommend you figure out how to get that treated. My therapist was the one to inform me that untreated adult ADHD manifests as depression and anxiety. Anxiety is a massive cloud. It's exhausting, confusing, and generally just bad for your life. Sorry you are going through that. It's good to get some perspective. Spend all the time you can with your parents. Speaking from recent experience you'll want all the memories you can get. Don't sweat the small shit. It's just money and it's just stuff. Love you buddy.

Bro I feel it. I’ve had panic attacks like that my whole life, i wish I had an answer to fix it, unfortunately I don’t. But, I’ve never had a panic attack on a bike and I have you to thank for that cause I would’ve never tossed a leg over one if I didn’t watch you making it look so fun

Real talk i was never an anxious person growing up it wasnt until after i turned 21 when i got hit with my first bouts of heart palpitations and dizzyness took multiple trips to the ER before a Cardioligst told me my heart was fine and to go see a psych Doc. Its weird how much just taking a low dose of the most basic anxiety drug helps, i mean sometimes i didn t realize i was having an anxiety issue until i felt my shoulders being real tense only to check my heart rate and being in the 90's for no reason. i mean ive had time where my resting heart rate was 110+ i take my meds and 15-20 minutes later being in the 70's. You're not weak for getting help my dude ouir brains are weird and sometimes they need some help too.

Dan, your doing a great job. Everyone has anxiety and those that don’t just do not recognize it. Your having a rough time recently and unfortunately that was the hand you were given but your killing it. Doesn’t matter if you think you are or not, you are. Keep up the great work my man. We got you just like you got us. Fuck you enjoy your day.

Kinda needed to hear some of this for myself. I have never had issues with anxiety but this past semester in school has been living hell. I let it get to me and it did not help my focus at all and prevented me from studying effectively and doing the things I needed to do. It doesnt help that I got covid for Christmas the second year in a row either but you said it perfectly. Grab it by the balls

Holy shit, for some reason I thought you were in your early 30’s. Hearing your 27 whilst i’m 21 was mind boggling. You honestly feel like day 1 homie with how long i’ve been watching you, and hearing how close we are in age made that even stranger yet more connecting in a way. I too have faced some tough shit in my head over the past two ish years that never used to effect me. I feel like i’m talking to a friend when I say this danny, but I, and everyone else loves you buddy. Getting mental health help is so important and something that we as men shouldn’t feel ashamed of (i’m on the same page as you with all this). I too have had to seek help, the voices in my head were getting to loud. With much homie ❤️

I had covid/strep at the same time four months ago. Strep went away pretty quick 2-4 days. covid BS lasted almost two months symptoms. Now I'm 4th month going on 5th. I've had one tonsil stone removed and constant sore throat that hasn't stopped. Constant dry mouth / blockage. I'm now seeing throat ear nose specialist 5th visit. Now they're sending me to GI specialist which sounds like I'm going to end up having my tonsils removed We had over 70+ people who got sick during the delta variant with a few deaths (hvac, electricians, plumbers) during a 150+ person meeting

Bro it is downright SCARY how much our minds control every little thing about our bodies…one little thing starts a slippery slope. I read something before that said “the mind is a dangerous thing” and it couldn’t be more true. Best of luck getting that shit under control man, I have that anxiety/panic issue along with digestive issues and it’s no fuckin picnic going from day to day, vicious cycle!
@DOITWITHDAN

I've found out most of my anxiety comes from my gut. Turns out they are directly linked; the brain and the gut. One of the best things I've done is found that Pepto Bismol can almost dead ass cure my anxiety for the day. I try not to rely on it because as you say, it's a cycle. Stress = tight stomach. Tight stomach = gut problems. Gut problems = anxiety. If I relaxy my stomach a few times a day, my anxiety and tummy issues tend to go away for a short time. I know this isn't the cause for everyone, but it's been a helpful tool for me
