also in case anyone is wondering the entire thing is literally on youtube!!! you can watch this specific musical right here (@ least in the us) however it is the first in a series, and i haven’t seen the others on here
Turns out that there were multiple! Sadly, it seems that only three are now viewable :( . There is La Comedie, Bud of the White Rose, and the later’s sequel, Blooming Rose of Deepest Black.
...What's hilarius, is "Suddenly becoming a musical" would be pretty tame for Utena. ...they didn't do that at one point. Did they? It's Utena. WALKING UP STAIRS is dramatic stock footage.
so 20 frickin years ago I had Utena fansubbed on VHS, and there were clips of this but only a couple of highlights from the first act (all untranslated) but I also had the album where it’s basically one actress singing most of the songs, and I didn’t know “Girls’ Season” was a Wakaba song and now everything makes sense.
@@Papismackmyassss I kind of want to see a play where Chu Chu fights in a duel, wearing armor and wielding a giant fork-him vs. Saionji when that jerk comes back to the school!
I found out Utena had a musical (and probably Utena in general) by stumbling into a shot of Rei (Touga) and I was so caught off guard because at the time, I knew her as one of her previous roles (Sailor Pluto). Looking here, I noticed even Sailor Uranus's actress is there too. The musicals world back then was a small one, huh. I haven't watched the anime itself yet since just recently I decided to dive into it and so far I've only seen pictures and they look pretty stunning.
Oh yeah, I just finished both the series and the movie recently after losing a mental struggle whether to take my time or binge it. I felt like that one meme guy pointing at a TV, going "Hey, I know that reference!" and I actually really liked it. It's a little confusing since it's my first time watching but considering how symbolic it is, I think I might need to give it a couple more goes.
Guys is it just me or is every actor a girl??? I've heard of Japanese musicals that deliberately use only female actors for every role (don't remember the name)
@@carpewhatsit it;s not takarazuka, but 3 former members of takarazuka are playing in it. it's just a single gender cast, not really uncommon in Japan.
