Hope you all got something out of this! Let me know if any of you are into this kind of raw unveiling of thought process… I know it’s disorganized and requires a certain level of theory to follow but it’s the MOST honest way I can explain myself to you all so I think it might be useful in addition to more structured videos (which don’t worry, I haven’t given up on - thanks for the patience!!!)

Absolutely a gem of a video! That "getting stuck into intellectual land" is something I struggle with so much haha. I always think too much about how will I modulate "correctly" , what kind of chord voicings should I be using next, is this line too cheesy etc. so much that it actually stops me from playing. Maybe I'll try it your way, and next time when I practice Im gonna focus on the flavors of the sounds.

We all struggle with it - my voice like that is still there, I’ve just learned to regain my free will in deciding to ignore it or not (and I’ve always been more of a feelings guy than intellectual guy at heart although I do love the nerdy stuff). It’s a dance between the hemispheres! Jacob Collier is someone in particular who I think understands and embodies this very well.

Yeah, so many times my improv sessions stopped with me getting frustrated of playing to much 'common' or 'cheesy' stuff

@@Tsharkeye For sure - “too common” is not trusting the intellect, and “too cheesy” is not trusting the feelings IMO

A lot of times, I get stuck on a two chord vamp, and I don't know how to transition from it
