Some unsung backroads between Ekatahuna and Waipawa 

Cheers. When I bought the new bike I had them put on a set of Pirrelli Scorpion STR. When the rear wore out I replaced it with a Mitas Enduro Trail (much cheaper than the Scorpion). I'll have to replace the front soon and am not sure what I'll go with. Everything is determined by my bank balance nowadays.

The scenery might not be as grandiose as it is in parts of the South Island, but it's still worth exploring.

I agree. It'd be great to have that peaceful lifestyle. Probably need to stock up the pantry in case the roads close.

There are quite a few roads along that way. It's rather annoying that there isn't a coast road.

I think their coop must have been damaged in some recent bad weather.

Haha, thanks. It's not always the case. The navigation on my bike has a tendency to send me around in circles (mainly if there are road closures) or even lose my location altogether. And I have a very poor sense of direction.

Yeah. It's amazing how remote some of these roads feel. You can be out for half the day and only see 1 or 2 other vehicles.

At one point I was wondering whether I'd accidentally turned on to a private farm track. The Spur Rd must have only just opened after some major work.

It a Tiger 900 Rally. The bike handles the roads better than it's rider. ;)
