I have had many issues with my Cayman 987 but this was not what I needed on top of all the repair bills that I have been getting. You read the title right, somebody has crashed into my cayman doing a little bit of damage, in this video I will talk about the plans to fix it, the extent of the damage and also where the car currently is as I will now be in the garage.
For new viewers to the channel this is my 2006 Porsche Cayman 987.1 3.4 S. I have owned the car for around 3 years now and during this time I have spent quite a bit of money on it, from bore score issues, full rebuilds, suspension and many other things owning this stunning little Porsche has been a dream and a nightmare all at the same time.

Sorry to hear about the cat, I’ve witnessed loads of car park scrapes and like you I park well away from everyone if I can. My 987 Boxster just had new manifold gaskets and sounds glorious again!

Unfortunately Porsches aren’t as reliable as people make out. I’m always replacing bits on mine. Plus I’m in a group with many other Porsche owners who are also having things go wrong. Nothing major but lots of niggles. I feel your pain with things going wrong. Sorry to hear about the damage.

Gutted for you Joe, but at least it's getting done properly, i've had a car damaged in a car park , but they didn't hang about and i ended up footing the bill

You do say in the beginning that it is more expense that you hadnt planned for,which can be confusing the way you put it in the sense that you would have to pay for it. You do though also say later that the person offered to pay cash ,or their insurance.

Even with someone else paying I'd have gone for the blending in - unless the other guy pissed me off by trying to do a runner! Trouble with going for perfection is that nothing less will do and that's not a recipe for stress free ownership.

Me too. There's always got to be blending anyway. You can't just spray a bumper/panel, fit it and expect the fresh paint to match the rest of the car. Any garage will (obviously) be delighted to to offer the biggest/most expensive repair option...

I spent a fortune on an E46. It got crashed into 3 times. It is devastating, all the repairs, all the money.

It's so sad that people can cause accidental damage to somebody else's car and not leave a note with their details morals and ethics in people in today's society are absolutely stuffed

Yeah it’s bad isn’t it. I do feel the more expensive the car the more likely they are to drive off. However on the flip side, the guy that alerted me to it clearly liked the car and felt bad for me. Seems some people have good morals.

Yeah but it’s not the look I’m going for. I do like that look sometimes on old sportscars but this suits being clean and well looked after

I would recommend whenever using a public parking space is to take two road cones with you, they’ll just about fit in the boot, and some fake Police Caution Tape and put each cone either side of the front or rear (whichever could get hit) and run the police tape across between the two. That will bring enough attention to the car for people to avoid hitting it. Another I have done but did get a complaint with is to use hazardous materials caution tape and a sign that says ‘Anthrax, keep clear of’ …but either works for me when I park in public.

I had a similar bump on my 996 just a couple of months after owning it. Someone coming in the opposite direction in a narrow street decided to accelerate past me, despite me slowing down and giving him the option of passing me in a 2 car length space, along side me. Fortunately there was an independent witness who vouched for me as the driver of the other car was adamant it was a 50/50 situation. I had it professionally repaired at Dick Lovett Swindon, the car was picked up from home, repaired and returned to me along with periodic videos of the work in progress. Fantastic service, and it was all covered by the insurance, the cost was over £2500. It's still frustrating and unfortunately one of the downsides to owning a desirable car. @@JoeTalksCars - That’s interesting because in the US, such a claim would fall under the “comprehensive” provisions of a policy and would not incur any charges or negative impact on future costs. Again, hang in there Joe! It’s obvious you love your car, as all of us subscribed to your channel do as well.

Whatever mate your coming on here trying to make everyone feel bad for you to get money out of people. You reversed that into a post without looking so stop lying nobody hit you! You wouldn’t have to pay for something that wasn’t your fault, so clearly you are in the wrong otherwise the other persons insurance would pay for the repair
