I got to meet Waka at Warped Tour, I made sure to bring my Flockaveli CD. Waited in line at his tent, was the last one and asked him to sign it. He just went “Awwwwwwww shit” with the biggest smile signing and writing “Flockaveli Pt 2 OTW”, he became one of my most favorite humans that day.

I genuinely feel for this man after learning about his story, and hope that he can live a happy life moving forward

I am happy that this story has a happy ending. A lot of the stories about the rappers ends tragically.

i had no idea waka was so down to earth. when bro speaks he sounds like a real person talking, not like all these other industry robots. waka wasn't meant for the rap game, gucci was right about one thing. but he wasn't meant to be a goon either.... he was meant to be something much greater.

I'm surprised someone like Waka Flocka didn't succumb to despair despite facing so many hardships and losses. I never listened to his music, but hearing him overcoming his struggles was truly inspiring. I've never felt so bad and good for someone at the same time.

I had the opportunity to work on a music video shoot with him. I was interning for Warner Bros. records in 2011 and we were doing a music vid w him and drake for round of applause. The thing that struck me is how chill and down to earth the dude was. i was just there to do behind the scenes footage for the BTS reel, and he kept coming up to me to hype me up. I’ll never forget, one of the times he came up to me. He asked me where we got all the pretty girls for the shoot and we scoped out the ladies together 🤣🤣. it’s true that being humble and nice leaves a mark. that was over 12 years ago at this point but anytime i hear him mentioned i think about that day and smile. cool dude and deserves the success he’s got today.

Losing all those close people must have been beyond anything. Glad he made it through still standing - all credit to him.

As someone who was 14 when waka first blew up with “O let’s do it” and “hard in da paint” , watching his transformation into the man he is today has been nothing short of incredible 🙏🏾

Holy shit what a strong human. I couldn’t imagine losing so many loved ones and going through so much tragedy. And he somehow handles everything with such strength and wisdom. Didn’t expect that from him but damn.

waka performed at my college in late 2018. some of my friends who helped put the show together got to meet him. they said he was one of the most beautiful souls they had met, and he lit up every space he went in. to this day its my favorite live show i ever went to. he got into the crowd and danced with everyone, he was intoxicatingly energetic and fun and gave us all a night to remember. im so glad he's here today and that hes creating joyful experiences despite everything he's went through. that's a beautiful and incomprehensible thing to achieve

Wocka never forgot the man who helped change his life forever. He remained close friends with Billy and every day, he was grateful for the love and guidance that his friend had given him. Wocka finally understood that true happiness comes not from power and money, but from the love and support of those around him. And so, Wocka lived the rest of his days as a happy and fulfilled man, shining a light on the power of friendship and the transformative impact it can have on one's life.

I think the fact that he went through so many heart wrenching tragedies is what made him so grounded. When you never face any problems it's easy to take what you have for granted and always want more. He seems like a genuinely good person with a good grasp in reality unlike most rappers. Massive respect

This is an amazing story to hear. It took him a long time to change, but it all worked out well in the end. Some other rappers wouldn't be lucky enough to reach Waka's position due to unfortunate passing or just being trapped. I'm glad my dude made it out and is seeing the truth in life. Flocka is by far one of the biggest role models in hip hop. Dude made literally decade defining banger after banger, and then showed everyone how to pivot themselves into a more sustainable life. The man is undefeatable.

I met waka at an EDM concert of all places once. Quick interaction, but man he was super nice and down to earth.

Wow I didn’t know any of this , this got me tearing up , especially the part where his little brother passed away and he wasn’t even able to pick up the phone and didn’t know it would be the last time he reached out. God this has made me grow so much more respect for the man. The pain in his voice on the breakfast club felt real. There are some artist who embellish their life stories to seem more interesting and you can usually tell when someone’s didn’t live te life they did but wacka wears his paid on his face and you can hear it in his voice which is what makes him such a good artist
