@@LloydTheZephyrian To be fair, I feel like cancelling it and using it to airdodge to ledge would make it slightly better, right? I'm not saying it would be broken by any means, but I feel like air dodge cancelling would definitely buff the move. Another example would be cancelling the move early to switch into a different move on stage.

I love when modders make move sets with restraint. Really disappointing when you get ones where every move is an absolute banger with 3 special effects, fire and lightning flying around everywhere. Smash characters just ain’t like that. Alucard, Waluigi and now Kamek have nailed it

Seems pretty cool even though some moves seem pretty heavily based on other characters' and a couple moves seem slightly jank. Like the upsmash, could probably make it spawn and then fall to make it seem less like a copy of Steve's. Placement on the fireball for Dtilt seems off, seems like it should come from the wand but looks more like it comes from Kamek's body? I do love the broom moves and especially the side special reference to Yoshi's Island. Seems like that move needs big buffs though, its sooo slow, but really interesting. Overall a pretty solid character for a mod. The one big missing thing is the lack of the rotating symbol magic blast. That's, like, *the* magikoopa move. Why is his neutral special a generic red blast and not the iconic magic symbols? I know its still WIP, hopefully that makes it in. Definitely a mod that makes me wish I had knowledge of how to mod the console.

It’s pretty cool, but I wish they could’ve taken stuff from the Mario RPGs, and the Yoshi’s island games. Imagine using copies of Kamek like in Mario, and Luigi dream team, or having that big ass hammer from Yoshi’s new island as a final smash.

Not to diminish the sheer magnitude of work it takes to make an full on character mod like this, which itself is so freaking amazing, but here's some constructive criticism of mine. I wish whoever did the animations took some cues from Sakurai himself on animating for Smash (he has his own channel on game dev), because most of Kamek's animations lack oomph, imo. The down air, for example, has little anticipation to complement how strong it is, so I don't really feel the book's weight. Compare that to Mega Man's, which is similar in concept (drop heavy thing): there's a noticeable start up before an active hitbox, which also makes the move a bigger commitment. Kamek looks like he just gets a strong move for free by comparison. But yeah, really cool mod, I wish I could try it out.

@@tjlnintendoOfc yes, however, I think this is a good sign to team up with other people. Normal game devs get bigger and bigger teams every day, and modders are still a one-man-army. It definetly could work for indie or older titles, but creating character mods for games like smash bros ultimate are definetly too demanding for a single person. Not saying it couldn't work, but it would probably take YEARS as a single person.

@@Adeyum64 True, but the issue with teaming up with mods is that it would require a lot of free time and communication for something they are doing for free. That usually doesn’t always work out. Especially if either side ends up being too busy with more important irl stuff. Hence why most go it solo.

@@tjlnintendo Yeah that's true, for those who do it in their free time. But also a quite difficult thing to tell here in that case? Not exactly sure what ko-fi is, but my guess is, it's like patreon? So the person kinda *does* have financial support, which kinda makes me question: Is it just not enough for multiple people, or does the person want to keep that sweet cash for himself? We will never know ig. I can only hope for a solid Kamek mod someday lol

What a nicely made and unique character concept. My only suggestions on what I'd wanna see, is the ability to cancel side b into up b any time after the first hex cloud is summoned, and make holding sideways control his flight speed during the move to a degree, to have better control on spell positioning and recovery mixing ups, by far his side special should be a bread and butter move for setting and it's too unsafe as is rn. I also feel like maybe a puff of smoke at the end of dair for a visual signifier for it's range would go a long way in visual clarity for the move. Barring those wishes and some nitpicks like jab and up smash, I'll repeat that this is lovely mod character that's been made here!

The fact that none of his moves shoot the rotating shapes beam is actually criminal, and a major oversight by the modder. That is his most iconic move since the character's inception. Also, you guys should have tried a match with Kirby just to see if his copy ability worked right with Kamek without glitches.

@@Medachod This is perhaps a strawman, but do you know how difficult it used to be to give Game and Watch simple recolors? Smash's coding is weird, as is sometime the paradigms that modders must workaround. For all we know, it is exceedingly difficult to design unique particles and put them into the game. We aren't modders, so we should approach criticism with a certain humility.

@@PalPlays I speak from being modding, though. I know different games warrant different variables, but that is all the more reason I stand by what I say. Especially in newer engines where geometry modifying, texture adjustments, etc. All of this has become much easier than in the past. Ultimate mods have their own form of tweaking too, but they are certainly much simpler than the previous Smash games. Especially when you come in from Sm4sh due to their shared engine. And let me make it clear, nothing in what I am saying here is trying to suggest the modder is lazy. Any kind of entertainment I absorb, I will give my own take on after the fact, be it positive or negative. I feel it is wrong to hold back that kind of thinking as people won't try to improve.

Captain Falcon was still added as an unlockable character in the original Smash 64, and not as part of the default roster. Even Ultimate aknowledges this by starting you off with the original 8 fighters.

I think Kamek is a logic pic for Smash, being a recurring character in the Mario franchise (tho more associated with Yoshi), and having potential for a moveset based on the many Magikoopa that have appeared, wonder what his Final Smash will be Also credits for the Kammy Koopa colors, also the white and red looking like Psycho Kamek from Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga

I feel like this mod has a long way to go in terms of its animations. Kamek doesn’t cheat out to an angle at the side like other SSBU characters for most of his animations, some of the transitions are a little funky (like on dashing and up-special), and those classic Mario geometric shapes should definitely be used on the visual effects of more of the magic than just side-B. Also a little obscene how short-ranged some of the projectiles are and how they just disappear into thin air without a visual effect.

Buffs suggestion for Kamek : Jab : less endlag for better mixup, longer hitbox, more hitstun and a more upward angle for combo tool potential (probably just jab nair) Up smash : scoop hitbox added in front of Kamek Down smash : Faster start up and more range Down throw : less knockback at high percent Dair : Book has a longer fall and spike hitbox last longer Side b : OVERALL FASTER or adding tiny knockback on the magic dust Up b : Faster startup, Invincibility frames at the startup, don't put the character in free fall if done on the ground Down b : Adding a new input where if you hold the b button, you have the shell in your hand instead of just launching it (can't be done in the air) Overall very cool character.

Disagree with side B. Make it faster, yes, but instead of knockback, give it a stun effect. Since it deals gradual damage while an enemy is in it, knockback would cause it to deal basically no damage. Stun keeps them in and provides setup potential.

This is a very impressive mod, though the moveset design feels a bit lacking. For being a wizard, I feel his moves don't utilize the whole magic spells aspect much. A magic heavy character could make some usage of the status effects in the game, like being able to slow down, poison, or shrink opponents. Right now his magic mostly boils down to shooting straight forward projectiles, so expanding on that aspect would be an improvement, in my opinion. In terms of animation, my biggest nitpick is that unlike Smash Ult characters, a lot of his poses feel too sideways, rather than front facing to the camera in a way that makes character poses more appealing and clearer to visualize. This is still very decent for a fan mod, and I hope the creator keeps making more like it. The deed of making a full custom character by themselves is applause worthy!

With some adjustments this would be a nearly perfect custom character. Side special especially should just be faster and cancel-able, maybe even go slightly up and this would be such a satisfying move.

Okay but looking at his moveset, I'd totally main Kamek. Can't wait to see what other polished custom characters the community will make, and eventually mod my switch myself so I can expand my roster XD
