This story is eerily similar to both the movies Lost Highway (1997 David Lynch) and Cache (2005 Michael Heneke) and like these movies it seems to lose itself in trying to be creepy as in the writer never does anything deeper with the premise.(apart from Lynch of course who takes it a step further)

It's also pretty similar to the "Penpal" Creepypasta by Dathan Auerbach. Lost Highway is a damn good movie, but I'll have to check out Cache. The premise sounds good.

It has been said, it would peer through windows looking for children who did not receive new clothes by Chistmas. It would stalk them through snowy streets, pounce, and devour them. "No one gets to open presents until everyone is awake" The clause that you are not allowed to wake them up by shouting at the top of your lungs is suspiciously missing. Do that a couple of times and they either tie you to the bed and gag you, or they lift the opening restriction.

Other than the pycho stalker angle of this story, plugging in a USB drive from an unknown source is a good way to get a computer virus. In fact, during some penetration tests, USB drives have been left in the parking lot at a corporation and that's a viable method to gain access in many cases.
