@@morgancarter193 I'm from GA, and Lord help me, because God I hate WV. I hate to even think of having to go through the state. I hate the roads. Never met a good person from there. I've been screwed over, robbed, and broke down, and never had a single good experience in that state. Fk WV, hell, I even hate the John Denver song.
Steve has lived his life his way, .....you can see it in his face and eyes...that grin,....and that's why he has these awesome stories, you don't get these stories from laying on a couch🍂...Love his encounters and the fact he is sharing them with us🐻
THIS! This is what brought me to howtohunt several years ago! I absolutely love grizzly bear stories! And I have always enjoyed Steve’s hunting stories! ❤️👍🏻😊
Thanks for this great outdoor story of the moose and grizzly bear following the moose trail. This is a good learning lesson about the outdoors in the wilderness. Your show is very helpful about the unexpected situations. Thank you for your video.
As Always... Steve, youre a great story teller, helping to create a vivid picture of the scenario in my minds eye. I much enjoy the stories! Often I will turn one on as I crawl into bed and listen til lights out. Then I will pick up where I nodded off the next morning and finish out the story. Keep um coming.
I'm not a hunter but I come from a bunch of guys (dad and brothers) in my family who do! But I love your stories! You're a great hunter and I learn much from you! Hey...I miss Mr. Macaroni and again I'm so sorry about his passing! Your stories pertain to hikers too!
This is one of my favorites of Steve's grizzly stories. I used to get so upset about how much danger he was in! Used to watch these before going to sleep at night! No wonder I had insomnia - I wanted more stories just like the last!
This story is so damn intense! I must say though I truly enjoyed Steve’s Bull Moose imitation 🤙🏽 I’ve been charged by a sow with two Cubs...your mind goes a million miles an hour faced with a grizzly! I so enjoy watching him tell a story 🤩
I'm still in shock that he gave up his weapon to a complete stranger!! No F way would I trust anyone except my father, he's a sharpshooter who goes around to tournaments and has a shit ton of awards ,I'm proud of my father, he taught me RULE #1 IS SAFETY FIRST IN EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING U DO IN LIFE. IM A GIRL ,SO HE WAS MORE PROTECTIVE OVER ME THAN MY BROTHER, HE STARTED ME TARGET SHOOTING AT A YOUNG AGE AND I STILL REMEMBER MAKING BULLETS FOR THE SHOT GUN FOR SKEET SHOOTING AND THE MACHINE WE USED AHHHH FOND MEMORIES I HAD A GREAT SHOT AT A YOUNG AGE, NOT TO TOOT MY OWN HORN BUT I LOVED BEING A NATURAL AT SHOOTING, IT WAS FUN AND I ABSOLUTELY RATHER BE OUT SHOOTING WITH DAD THAN ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD ,...STEVE MUST BE SLIPPING IN HIS OLDER AGE LOL KIDDING, BUT DAMM I CAN'T BELIEVE HE GAVE UP HIS WEAPON AND LEFT HIMSELF WITH NOTHING AT ALL..🤯crazy ..
@@meredithahern-tamilio4667 Steve went into grizzly gulch without a weapon...he loaned his scabbered to another hunter so he didn't take a gun...the only rifle they had belonged to the hunter....no freaking way would I do that...lol
Had a similar story happen to me but it wasn't quite as scary. I was deer hunting in a little snow maybe 2 inches probably less. I had gone around a hill maybe halfway up because the hardwood allowed decent viewing lanes and made it to an old overgrown logging road. I stopped for a while hoping to see something when all of a sudden, a rabbit comes running down the hill full tilt crosses my tracks and disappears. Not sure what was chasing it I took off the safe of my rifle and waited. Sure enough a few seconds later this huge pine marten...big pine marten... OK, a pine marten comes running down the hill following the rabbit tracks but (here's the scary part) when he gets to my track he turns 90 degrees and runs towards me! I knew I was helpless and would never be able to shoot it with my rifle. Not because they're small mind you but mostly because they're fast. He stopped about 10 feet from me while I was doing my best not to look like a scared rabbit. I guess it worked cause he did a 180, went back to the rabbit tracks and continued his chase. A few minutes later my heartbeat got back to normal and I resumed my hunt. About a mile up the hill I crossed the rabbit and pine marten tracks where they had crossed another old logging road. That pine marten was determined get that rabbit. I also learned how the rabbit felt, Ha Ha!
Wow, while you were narrating the story I could visualize everything I was getting a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach while you were talking about this Grizzly, I'll bet you don't go without your weapon anymore! LOL.
Great story Steve!! And I would NEVER EVER go in those woods in your area without a BIG gun with me ever again!!! I've got that "1 in a million luck" streak like you, and it's not with the kind of luck that wins lotteries either! I know you know what I mean!!!
Hunting guides don't go commando do they ...alot easier and cheaper to change underwear than to buy a new pair of pants each time . Damn you have lived a blessed life . That would scare most people to death hearing the story let alone living through some of the s@#t you have . Another great one ! More !!!
Been following you for a while now. These are far better videos to spend time on than the Bigfoot stuff you do. And I’m sure you have a ton of these stories too. Give us more of this...
My brother in law has a scary grizzly experience like that.picking morel mushrooms in the Lincoln mt.area.Grizzly got with in 10 feet of him.the story still gives me the shakes.
Bro, I don't even go to the grocery store without being heavily strapped! If some slicker comes out without his own rig... well that's on him! When you take folks out, give them a list of 'must have or no go'. Keep extras to rent if they don't have their own shit. Do not die because of another person being unprepared!
I would love to learn how to hunt. Strangely though, I cried when I listened to your vivid description of the bear's death. You're a great storyteller. I still want to hunt but I'll probably end up bawling the whole time. I realize bears are predators who kill to survive, so why am I still crying?
Those bears sounds my god that had me feelin like I was right there with u both that’s one scary hunt I’m glad u were both ok there is no way I’d go in the bush over there we r lucky here in Australia lol
Holy Crap, that was a Great story Steve 👍, I bet when you get together with other guide's and outfitters for a Beer🍺, You all share some pretty good stories. 🗻😲👍
You want stress. Try your pilot turns to you and says [ you want pucker factor? ] why? We have 30 minutes of fuel! And 45 minutes back to the boat! ( been there) the pilot was cool we ditched in the dark open ocean cut and scratched! He swam up to the l - raft can I come aboard? Yep we wouldn't want to feed the sharks something as nasty as you! Sars picked us up 2 hrs later! After we were aboard you could see the size and number of sharks that had been circling! I looked at our new flight crew and said , no swimming lessons for us?
a shot over the valley or ridge the bears running will change his mind. if i'm scared of something that i don't want to kill a warning shot will scare most men even crazy men ..... a bear that is worried about surviving a winter and needs to survive will avoid death by bullet almost one thousand percent of the time
Licensed Guides should be able to carry sidearms , Law makers are idiots But one must admit, Adrenaline is one hell of a drug Take it from a adrenaline junkie. I hate the crash but love the high
Steve you are my LIGHTHOUSE, thank you very much for sharing your crazy adventures and wild times out hunting, it's u bringing me with you.. LOVE YOUR SOUND EFFECTS, STEVE WTF NOT EVEN A KNIFE ON YOURSELF?!!! SHAME ON U. IM ACTUALLY SHOCKED NEVER EVER WOULD I TRUST ANYONE ELSE EXCEPT MY FATHER TO PROTECT ME FROM ANY ANIMAL...WOW LESSONS WE LEARN ALONG THE WAY, HAY HOW MANY OF YOU WOULD TRUST A PERSON WHO U DON'T KNOW FROM JACK??! IN THIS TYPE OF SITUATION?? I HOPE NONE OF YOU WOULD, IF YOUR OUT THERE ,MAKE DAMM SURE U HAVE FULL CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF, OR U MIDE AS WELL JUST LAY DOWN AND WAIT UNTIL THE ANIMAL KILLS U...Seriously if you don't have the confidence in yourself in all sides that could happen ,you better practicing your technique or you could end up bring dung!!! And tested for DNA IN SOME LABORATORY LOL U NEVER KNOW 😁💯% confidence is a MUST or your not going anywhere with me ,no F way my life is at the top of my list to Lee breathing in and out ..I'm still shocked that Steve gave up his weapon and left himself with NADA to protect himself with ,not even a gun on his side nothing, STEVE YOUR SLIPPIN BUDDY I AM THANKFUL EVERY HUMAN BEING DIDN'T GET HURT OR KILLED, BUT IDK WHAT TO EVEN SAY OR THINK RIGHT NOW...YOUR OBVIOUSLY NOT NEEDED FROM OUR CREATOR AT THIS TIME, AND THAT IS A GREAT THING, BUT DAMM ,U HAVE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME ,THE SPOT YOU GUYS WERE IN 1ST OF ALL WAS INSANE TO STAY THERE IN MY OPINION, I WASN'T THERE BUT I DON'T THINK THAT IT WAS SAFE AND WHERE THE HELL WAS THE OTHER GUY GUN? ILL HAVE TO WATCH THIS AGAIN, I KNOW HE SAID EHERE OR WHY THE GUY WAS WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF GUN..OK ON TO THE OTHER VIDEO THAT IS UP TODAY ... KIDS I HOPE YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEVER GO GUNLESS OR BOW LESS U MIDE AS WELL BE BUTT NAKED OUT THERE WITH YOUR BALLS BLOWING OFF YOUR SCENT...LMAO
The first time I saw this story was in one of your other videos I really loved it. The second time I watched it I started wondering about some parts. Your the guide right. You guide the hunter and its your job to make sure the hunter gets the game and gets out alive. Yet you go to grizzly gulch with a guy that never hunted big game and don't bring a gun? Don't get me wrong I love the story , you tell it great but it does sound a little unprofessional from my point of view. Justsayin.
@Keith Maxwell I assumed he was in Alaska and could carry a pistol. Maybe one of those "mare's leg" rifles in 45LC or 44 mag? Non-restricted backup. (Still, in country like that where you could literally be eaten, I wouldn't go for a morning whizz without firepower!) 😆
What calibers can you use to kill grizzlies? Just wondering, Sorry I’m inexperienced! Can you use 10mm, 12 Gauge slugs, and 45-70? Those are the calibers I have that I think may be effective. Thanks for the help!
Dang Steve. I hope you always Carry at least a 12ga. With slug's. We don't want to lose you man! And like you said you never know what a man is going to do when the unexpected happens.
