Someone's High School #1978FordF150Custom Junkyard Find. Pretty rare sight to see a classic vehicle in the yard that was recently someone's highschool ride. This 78 #longbeddentside was just recently on the road wasn't in bad shape at all. Heck, I'd drive it. It had a nice dash and perfect dash pad. The interior as a whole was a respectable all things considered. Under the hood was an inline 6 and it was a factory air conditioning truck as well. Makes me wonder why it was sold to the junkyard. #Myfirsttruck #myfirstcar #myhighschooltruck

Hey hay Straw straw Benny. Happy 4th. Of July weekend 2021. I had one of these in the Mid 1990s. 300/6 3 speed column shift. Short box F100 round lights. Beautiful forest green truck. Breaking down continually. Driver Returned On Foot. Fords are JUNK....late 1999. My last fomoco truck. Only Chevrolet or Dodge. No More Ferds...

That dash & instrument cluster is in good shape for it's age. I was 10 that year.

It's the "you ain't gotta go home, but you gotta get out of here" horn. The truck looks pretty decent for its age.

1978 was the last year for round shaped headlamps on those generation Ford F-series pickups & Broncos & the first year for square shaped headlamps too which came standard on models with the Ranger trim level. The pickups were built from 1973 - 1979 & the Broncos were built from 1978 - 1979.

I would think you could flip clean tailgates to the north if you could find a source for big cardboard to wrap them with. Foam underlayment makes a good padding material. They're big but they're thin so the shipping shouldn't be too crazy. You wouldn't get rich but if you could buy for $20-$40 and sell for $100-$200 plus shipping I think they'd go.

You're a better man than me in that I wouldn't take that on at all. Too much work for too little profit. I just sold an NOS rear glass for a 73-91 K5/Jimmy and the same guy grabbed the 73-91 NOS Suburban glass I had. I got cash in hand, and he drove from CT to NY (about a 3 hour round trip) as there was no way I was shipping those, even though he asked. I dropped the price a few bucks and told him, "I'll put some money in your tank for the ride". Not worth shipping the big and bulky thing for a few bucks. You'll get almost as much net profit by having someone come by and pick it up. Another way to go if they still do it is by Greyhound bus. You load it at your terminal and they pick it up at their terminal.

@@googleusergp glass is different, you need specific glass shipping packaging for that. A tailgate takes a beating in normal use, so it should stand up to some abuse in shipping. Wrapping it isn't a big deal, but finding boxes has become tough now that so many places recycle and it's actually worth a few cents a pound. But they're fairly easy to remove, they have a square shape that's easy to wrap up, and they're something people often need. I even had a 55-59 GMC one and sold it easily despite some rot in it.

@@CR7659 Not worth my time for the profit involved. I can do it as a local pick up and make the same money with less effort. Boxes are easy to get---go to any store that sells bicycles and you can make boxes from what they have---especially when it's a store that puts them together for the customer. For smaller boxes, go to the supermarket. They will give you boxes. Less for them to deal with. At the end of the day, if doesn't fit in a flat rate box or something easy, not worth my time. Yes, glass can be shipped, but most sellers of glass online (such as Classic Industries) will charge double oversize for it. I made just as much selling it locally and the only thing I had to handle was the cash that was given to me. LOL.

Aw man, this video REALLY frustrates me, I've been searching for a 2WD 78-79 F100/F150 with the Inline 6 or a 302!!! This one looks real nice! Good dash and interior minus the door panel/bottom seat but that's EASILY replaceable. New oil filter and that bulletproof engine WILL RUN. Looks to be clean and rust free! Maybe a bad C6 tranny? Hell, it's worth replacing it! I'd drive as it, with them OEM full-size FORD hubcaps, 8 track radio, and Hankook Optimo Whitewalls! (Benny's favorite lol) The yard is really made a boneheaded decision on parting this one, the PARTS from other dentside could've rescued this!

Someone in the office said Ford... No way, crush it! I haven't seen many that year that clean that is still on the road. Bought the 78 new myself, and it come at the dealers... a three hundred six with four speed, half ton posi track, and no air conditioning for a whopping two thousand dollars and paper work for washington state sales taxes was another couple hundred close out the door and a full tank of gas. I could of bought its cousin next to it for another three hundred something for it as the four wheel drive one. I just don't understand as here in alaska now, setting on rubber and tags for twelve thousand. I seen it in anchorage at someones house and was going to go home and get into my piggy bank and the man gave me a call.... sold~! I find it hurtful as its okay to slam on fords and if you curse a nasty shape chevy and not all that nice sells higher with a "Wow, thats a cool truck". I never will understand

That's the yard's "last call". They are beeping you to tell you the yard is closing and to get your purchases up to the counter, get them paid and get out of there so they can lock up for the day.

Something might have been swapped out here. I'd have to see the trim tag to know what it came with originally. No tag, we cannot brag.....
