SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG HERE. | No One Lives Under The Lighthouse (FULL GAME) 

I wanted to answer 8bits' question. My grandfather was the last west coast lighthouse keeper. He was stationed on the Northern California coast. The question asked was "was it really that secluded?"..... Yes it was. These keepers worked 24/7. Most were married and raised their families on these lonely stations. Keepers were required to leave the light for 1 month a year for "vacation". This was more of a mental health break. If conditions did not allow for the keeper to leave... They didn't leave, regardless of need.. sickness or injury was no exception. If their children needed access to school.. families would separate for a short time. Lighthouses were the ultimate full time job.

Im seeing the VHS-esque low polygon horror games have been getting alot of attention lately, especially with producers like Puppet Combo, it's really cool!

For those who have no clue about the achievements or weren't paying attention to them, the achievements are named after tarot cards of the Major Arcana (which means they're all specially unique) with pictures from the Rider-Waite tarot deck. The cards listed in order are: VIII. "Strength", XIX. "The Sun", XIII. "Death", XVI. "The Tower", XVIII. "The Moon", XVII. "The Star", I. "The Magician", IV. "The Emperor", VII. "The Chariot", II. "The High Priestess", XII. "The Hanged Man", XIV. "Temperance", 0. "The Fool", X. "Wheel of Fortune", XV. "The Devil", IX. "The Hermit", XI. "Justice", VI. "The Lovers", V. "The Hierophant", III. "The Empress", XXI. "The World", and XX. "Judgement"/"The Final Judgement". The descriptions also seem to tell a story (go look for yourself). I love how Ryan puts a lot of strength into his videos and intros, but he's still sick. To make videos while your still sick, that's a man of word right there.

I love growing with Ryan. Watched him for so long and it's just hard to imagine how long he's been in my life. It's like he was personally here with me whenever I needed him. All I want to say is thank you for being you and hope you are prosperous for the rest of your years.

i think the chest was important and it may be the key to another ending, the chest might have a gun in it and if u open it and get to the part where u had to fight it that could be a ending if u would kill the monster. that or the part where u entered the celler and ran from the monster before jumping into the hole maybe you had to find his son in that case it could change some parts of the story. i don't know that's just my take on it but overall i loved the video as usual and im glad to see you smiling again ryan take care

Okay, this game was very confusing, but I'm going to try my best to put it all together. Let me know if anything here sounds wrong. It seems like there are a total of 3 lighthouse keepers we play as in this game. The first one we play as is the 2nd. They're the one you play as when you start the game, and they go missing (likely killed by the monster), so they're replaced by the third. I think they might be the shadowy figure that pops up every now and then. The third is the one you play as through most of the game. They're the one who replaces the second and the one who faces the monster multiple times. At some point, they're chased down by the monster and fall into a... nest, maybe? Eventually, they jump down the hole when that monster is there (In the scene where they should have a gun) and die. The first is the one in the village. I think he lost himself and was possibly found by Satan? There is a lot of talk of repenting from that meat sack at the end. In his monster form, he kills his son. He constantly drinks to deal with the grief, and he starts searching for his son in his drunken state. At some point, he's taken down to the nest, and kept there for quite a while, until he awakes again upon the third's arrival. He is the monster the third faces. Again, let me know of your theories.

Another well played PS1 style horror game. I like how it’s a copy of the real life job as a Lighthouse worker. Also the low quality of the persons view makes the game even less settling. These poor quality games r starting to make a come back. And it’s a damn good one too. Keep us in-tuned and waiting more.

I love the eerie vibe this game has, and how well it executes the whole 2nd person chase.

At 58:09 that is a direct quote from Joseph the King of Dreams, where his brothers had thrown him into a pit and taken his coat his mother made for him. After they took his coat they killed a goat and dipped it in the blood of the animal before telling their parents that Joseph was mauled to death by a wolf (or something like that). The game I think centers around this diety the island worshipped and made sacrifices to keep the creature happy

Just a little note, you got the bad ending where the lighthouse keeper would continue going missing, if you found the first rune (thing for the chest) you would of unlocked the shotgun and if you killed the monster instead of jumping into the hole at the end, you would of got the good ending where you stopped the curse of the missing lighthouse keeper.

Another game implementing the 2nd-person view. Nice. That is so rare and it's nice that more game devs are very slowly trying it in their games. I know it's very jarring and that is why there isn't a lot of it but it's nice that there are at least 3 games that have it.

As soon as I saw the storage shack near the beginning of the game, I thought to myself “That’s going to be a hiding place later on, isn’t it?” And I was dead right!

If you're up for more Nautical themed mystery, a game I can certainly recommend would be "the Return of the Obra Dinn," a mystery-adventure game made by the same people who made "Papers Please," in which your character, a representative of the British East India Company is assigned to the ship, in order to discover what happened to the crew, why the ship vanished for nearly a decade, and what caused them to get lost in the first place. It's a game of deduction, where you have to pay VERY close attention to all the details, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem (accents, style of dress, nationalities, the dialogue of the characters you're investigating, real world history, and the context clues of what their occupation aboard the Obra Dinn was, as well as when and where they were when they died or went missing). The game is not presented in the appropriate order, instead it begins at the end of the story (everyone dead or missing, ship a ghost vessel devoid of life), with you retroactively trying to rewind time and backpedal to discover the ship's history, filling in the blanks.

the player gets drunk and falls over 49:40, the oil barrel falls over the basement door and traps the son under the lighhouse. the son does not make it out, and because the dad feels guilty for this being his fault he is in some sort of limbo. but that is just my theory

Yea, this is an such an abscure game, that the only guides is on this is on Steam. I will not spoil for you, but I can give you some hints of how to get the full ending. 1)The tower: This is easy due to the fact all you need to do is play the record every time you are in the lighthouse, you can do this during other achievements. 2)The Magician (getting the gun): This easy for you since you got 3/4 medallions, to get the fourth one, it's simple. LOOK DOWN TO THE SUITCASE GIVEN TO YOU AT THE DOCK WHEN YOU GOT OFF THE BOAT, YOU BLIND MONKEY! Then it's easy as bringing it to your home and opening it, with the medallion inside. 3)The Hieorophant (hang the cross): Another simple one, every time the cross is tilted or on the floor, put it back in place, but you might have to do that monster ending again... sorry. 4)The Hangman (DO NOT SKIP THIS): This is important, so follow closely. First do your 1st day as usual, get off the dock, suitcase in your house, realign your cross, ect. But! When you get the fuel for the lighthouse, light the lighthouse first! Then turn the crank, but before you head up the ladder head down stairs then exit the lighthouse. Head to the dock and meet a friend! He should be at the dock itself. Then head back to the lighthouse, up the ladder into the loading zone. 5)The Emperor: Just keep your home clean, I'm serious. There are three instances of your home being filthy, clean it. 6) The Hermit: When you were outside and getting chased by the monster, run to the outhouse. 7)Temperance (This may drive you crazy): During the rainy day, you must find 10 dig spot all over the island, I'll make it easy on you and say find 9 of them before the dig spot that holds the key and oil lamp, digging in the dark while it's raining is no fun. 8)The Fool (you should have the gun by now, reload with R): Now you have the gun, go to the top of the lighthouse and go to the balcony, shoot the seagull. DON'T HESITATE. (At the first flashback, the cross should be on the floor of your house, hang it back up) 9)The Star: During one of the flashbacks, one of them leads you to a grave site. Take the shovel from the cabin and dig up the grave site, open the coffin. 10)The Chariot (facing the monster, get the medallions): ..... or not. Just get killed by the monster three times in a row, it will give a choice to skip the encounter, choose yes. [Now for the split in the path of different endings, which will lead to different achievements] {Spoilers Ahead for those who haven't played the game!} [Kill the monster] 11/12)Wheel of Fortune/The Empress: You must not get hit once during the whole fight, hopefully you have been collecting ammo on the ground, they are next to the skeletons. Always let the monster attack first then back up to dodge, fire at it. Will take a few shots but shouldn't give you much trouble and get both achievements. (Note: Might have to restart the entire week to get The Hierphant) [Be the monster] 13)Justice: Take a shot at the monster, then run into the pit. (When you get back to the island, place the cross back on the wall to get The Hierphant.) 14)The Lovers: Chase down the keepers on the island fields and catch all of them, DO NOT LET THEM ESCAPE! 15)The Devil: Do not get shot as the monster, so strafe to get the kill! [After all of this the candles in the church should be all lit for specific Taroh, you should gain access to the church cellar behind the alter. This will give you access to the two final achievements and the final ending] 16)Judgment: There is a shovel at the top of the lighthouse, that is all I need to say. 17)The World: Final ending. [Then you get the final achievement Major Arcana, when you got all other achievements] If you haven't guessed already, all the achievements are based on the Taroh Cards, each with their own meaning depending on their orientation.
